This is by far the biggest cleaver I've ever seen, I'd almost say it's the biggest in the world. We are going to restore this giant in this video. I will hardly use any new materials in the restoration, only what is no longer talkable. Just see for yourself...
▶ What did I do?! ◀
After removing the old wooden handle from the blade of this huge cleaver, I worked the metal on the belt sander and sanded off the rust. I then sanded the surface with the random orbital sander before polishing the blade on the polishing stand. I made the pins and the corresponding nuts on the lathe and the milling machine. Furthermore, I had to replace one end of the handle with brass, as the wood was broken at this point. Finally, I glued and screwed everything together and adjusted it with files and sandpaper. The handle was treated with linseed oil varnish.
▶ Good to know ◀
I used the following tools: Multi-function tool, scriber, screwdriver, drill, pliers, milling cutter, pin punch, hammer, belt sander, random orbital sander, polishing block, polishing paste, lathe, lathe chisel, thread cutter, saw, files, sandpaper, two-component adhesive, cotton buds, isopropanol, linseed oil varnish

Can't describe the pleasure I get after watching such restorations ❤
I'm glad if you like it!🐢
Nice to see you turtle. I’m glad you didn’t have haters. You are my favorite restorer. ❤🐢
🐢❤👑
One of the greatest knife restoration I've watched in KZhead! You used most of the old parts including the original handle but make it brand new and keep the original shape. Well done!
Thank you for the wonderful praise! 🐢
These videos are amazing!! I've always had trouble falling asleep but they videos are so tingly. I think i've found my favorite channel
Thank you, I'm glad if you like it! 🐢
I'm trying to imagine using that cleaver. It's probably longer than my arm! It looks stunning at the end!
Yes, that's really long, over 80cm. I don't think you need this at home😅🐢
@ForgottenShineRestoration It's over half my body length! It's almost a spear! Still, I would love to see that hanging on the wall in someone's kitchen.
Bone cleaver I'd imagine, if it didn't cut it it would smash it
@stumagoo5433 Hulk smashing bones sounds messy but fascinating. I've only ever seen bone saws (manual and electric).
It tickled an itch in my brain 😅❤
Beautiful result! And I'm such a sucker for reflection shots, they were gorgeous! I also must say that I love the new camera angles on the lathe. My brain really struggles to figure out which way is down when looking at the other angle 🐢
Thank you for the praise and feedback, I'm glad you like it! 🐢
Stumbled upon your channel this evening and just couldn't stop watching. You sir are an artist theres no other word for it... great job and great videos.
thank you for the wonderful restoration sir ❤👍
The brushed accent pieces on the ends are a gorgeous touch!
Thank you very much, I'm glad you like it!🐢
Dope AF results, @ForgottenShineRestoration!
It’s “almost” too beautiful to use, but it was built for a purpose and I hope you get to use it!
That knife clearly dreams of being a naginata! It's so big with such a long handle! What was it made to cleave!?
A pig, it's called a hog splitter
Loved this, absolutely love the transformation 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you! 🐢
Oh, I'm happy to see turtle is having a good time with her date 😊
🤣😅🥰❤🐢
17:52 Wow! that was a perfect slice!

@@ForgottenShineRestoration Great video by the way. 🤣🤣🤣

Very nice, nice sandpaper transition and brass work👍
Thank you! 🐢
🤯🤯👍👍👏🏻👏🏻 now that cleaver looks amazing 👍 your skills are amazing 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🍻🍻🇺🇸
Thank you very much! 🐢🤩
Apparently that thing is the answer to life, the universe, and everything 🤷♀️
That is a very nice hog splitter. But other than making a mess in the shop with a watermelon, or hanging it on a wall, what would someone use it for? Just about anything that you would cut with it, including watermelon, would discolor the blade, and it would need polishing again. Conversation piece maybe?
This reminds me of White Beard from ONE PIECE ^^ Great Job ^^ This was an awesome restoration
Thank you very much! 🐢
the result was really stunning, and it was really cool to see you reuse the handle wood. one question though - did you consider just cleaning up the handle rather than rebuilding it? the handle looked beat up but serviceable. was there something wrong with it that couldn't be repaired?
Thanks for the praise, no I just wanted to clean it because there was still enough material available🐢
Looks like a weapon from the game kenshi. Also love your filming skills, very good camera effects and setups!
Thank you for the praise and feedback, I'm glad you like it!🐢
Really like your lathe and milling skills. While many would just go to Harbor Freight or Home Depot for replacement parts, you made your own. It's now better then new. Well done Sir 👏
Thanks! 🐢
0:57 wait is that a blue turtle?! Why don’t they get any screen time like red? 😢
Maybe the time for the blue turtle will come... 🐢❤
Good evening Indonesian time, keep up the enthusiasm to continue your work..
Great restoration 😍😍
Thank you very much! 🐢
All your videos are amazing. The transitions have become so good and smooth. You make a tremendous and beautiful work. It is art. Love what you do. Keep going 👍

Vielen Dank! Schön immer wieder von dir zu lesen! 🐢
I, no joke have a larger cleaver than that. Grabbed it from an antique place about 10 years ago. All I can read is west Germany.
Блестящая работа, бро! 👌👍👏👏👏 Кстати, нужно было ещё гоблинов порубить этим тесаком! 😂😂😂
What up these videos are amazing and I’m stopping cringe people from saying anything
Thank you! 🐢👑

Good job on this giant knife😉
Thank you very much! 🐢
çok güzel bir video ve artık kaplumbağa yalnız değil (0:55) onun bir kız arkadaşı var
Çok teşekkür ederim, beğendiğinize sevindim! 🐢❤🐢
That watermelon cut was very satisfying. Another awesome vid, dude. Keep it up =]
I wouldn't have thought that so much would be broken with this cut 😅🐢
Very good! I'm from Americana SP Brasil.
Thank you! 🐢
Do you remember me?
Talk about a full tang. 😅
Yikes! Is that a cleaver, or a polearm?
Kompliment 👍👍👍
Danke 🐢
Получилось произведение искусства. Повесить на стенку и творить на него намаз по пять раз в день. А дрова рубить топором.
Why are the time stamps elden ring bosses 😂
Red and Blue Turtle together... plotting together

17:52 I think you got it
0:56 what da turtle doing...
Good job mister beautiful restoration beautifully restored well done
Thanks! 🐢
More like the longest cleaver 😂
When are you gonna make a knife out of rust
1:26 MY EARSSSSSSS
😍
I think the screwdriver didn’t work in the beginning because the groove wasn’t deep enough
That's what I thought at first, but the whole screw turned and I couldn't hold it on the other side... 🐢
Nice hogsplitter.
This reminds me of a cleaver/knife I saw that was used for butchering whale carcasses. I wonder what this was originally intended for?
Блин , я аж подпрыгнул на стуле в конце . 😢😢
😱😱❤🐢
17:51 What the ..
Gotta say that turtle guy is pretty creepy.....
😱😱🐢❤
Bruh that‘s not a cleaver that‘s an instrument for committing war crimes
😱😱🙈🐢
In the next episode there will be a cutting board
🤣🤣 good idea! 🐢
Малость поясничаешь.
Had hoped to get the weight and measurements , but no .
The complete cleaver is 82cm long 🐢
I'm just a curious, why all of you restoration fellows wasting so much liquids, oil... WD40... etc?
You do have a big cleaver there how ever a hog splitter is considerably larger.
That thing was built like a brick shit house. If it's that hard to take apart, maybe it doesn't need a complete restoration? (Just the blade?)
THANKS FOR 0 HATERS
You don’t see two handed cleavers very often
Плохо это смотреть без озвучки, чем со вуком.😊
Oh no our handle! It's broken.
Bro restored this 3 minutes in.
Too sexy!
I’ve seen bigger cleavers… 🤷🏼♂️…. Damn good job, bro.
You need to pin the brass bolsters. Glue is not good enough to hold them to the blade in real life use. And... making it into a wall hanger defeats the entire purpose of restoration.
Art for art's sake is purpose enough. It's not for you to judge what the "purpose" of restoration is for someone else.
Art has nothing to do with propper restoration. Techniques of restoration are well defined all over the world.
Если есть гриндер, зачем точить напильником ?!?
You forgot to put the initials back at the end of the handle. Everything is nicely restored, but you shouldn't erase the mark a creator put into their work And even if you throw the excuse of "Well, _I_ wouldn't mind if someone else put their mark here if it's restored restored again in the future" that's because you weren't the one who drew up the design of that tool, you weren't the one who cut out the piece of wood to make that handle, you weren't the one who cut, or even worse, forged out that entire blade, and you weren't the one who heat treated it neither. If you wanted to put your mark on it so bad, put it somewhere else. But at the fucking least leave the original initials there And even if those initials weren't from the maker of the tool, although not as scummy, it's still pretty unthoughtful of you to erase history quite literally carved into that cleaver. But if you don't know if this was a manufactured piece or not, the initials are as good as a maker mark
You sanded and milled all the history and character off of that handle. KO is forever gone, no one will think about them again, no one will look at the measuring marks on the handle and wonder what they were used for.
Or gave it a new lease of life to create more history
My initials are KO! Sad
You do realize he kept the handle right... most people would have gotten rid of it and made a new handle but he kept it... stop throwing a fit and enjoy the video
Good riddance to KO
bro no one cares its a fuckin restoration
clutz.
Pretty simple work, normal finishing, ugly handle, no laser engraving or anything special. 5/10
That's a solid "NO". Totally ruined. Those handle 'channels' on the edges are indicative of a certain period of time and are now lost.
Then do better yourself. 🤷🏻
@@ynysafalon stop defending destructive techniques.
First thing I do, is ruin the heat treatment immediately by sanding it.
