  • I don’t want to ever again hear from anyone “if Djokovic had played he would have won”. Carlos Alcaraz is the 2022 US Open champion fair and square, and nobody can argue with that.

  • Ruud is the perfect example of a player who doesn't have generational talent, but a mind of steel. At times he has played well, at times bad, but he is still there. Quietly moving forward. Last year he would win every ATP 250. This year he has reached one ATP 1000 final and one semifinal and two grand slam finals. Edit: And Torino Atp finals final.

    • Not just saying it because he didnt prevail down there, but the hard court at US Open is slower than the one at the Australian Open. Thats why he has somewhat success on the hard courts over in America, I think Miami and Indian Wells are THE slowest ones they have on tour, because of the slower pace and it bounces higher. Thats why you're never gonna see him win at Wimbledon, and most likely not at Australian Open either. I wanna see him win something else than the ATP250s where he's a constant 1st seed tho, its about time now. Tennis is moving into an odd Era, there's no clear cut no. 2 in the world behind Alcaraz after Djokovic retires, so there's a lot of space up for grabs.

  • Everybody talks about how fast Alcaraz is but honestly, Ruud’s speed is underrated and probably a bit faster. He was reaching some ridiculous drop shots. The main difference is that he doesn’t make a big deal of it so nobody pays attention.

    • Ruud reads them well, but for pure speed I do think Alcaraz is faster.

  • I remember the second commentator of this match was obviously rooting for Ruud. He made sly comments throughout the match. At some point he said Alcaraz was tired and was using the crowd to motivate him and so many others. A commentator should be neutral and not constantly look for what was wrong with a player's game. When Alcaraz rventually won, he said there was some point in the match when he thought Alcaeaz would not make it.

  • If Alcaraz confirms in the long term, it will be the end of Djoko's reign in lack of competition & Nadal in physical breakdown

    • this is the funniest comment that i ever see. Alcaraz is brilliant player and he just begin wining , to do that for 15 year more he must have Nadal perfomans , over and over again , Novak head over and over and oveerrr , Federer art of play over and over .

  • Carlos is the next thing after nadal, djokovic and federer, once they all retire and it wont be long, federer already semiretired and may play one more wimbledon and nadal has injuries. djokovic may stay a few more years but this is the next big player, if he can eat right, ensure rest, work the gym, and wont be distracted by whatever outside the court and be injury free
