I have the downpipe and a tune on mine and it’s true you can beat huracan’s and r8’s. Can’t even imagine what 800hp at the wheels feels like!
The fact that the engines are so overbuilt from factory is amazing. Definitely a dream/goal car to get!
Start with a GLI
absolutely, its my dream car as well, super obtainable.
Take it from someone that owns one. Only thing that’s really overbuilt is the fuel system. The stock rotating assembly is weak. To make any kind of power beyond FBO e85 you need to build the motor. In fact some stage 2 e85 cars have catastrophic engine failures. To do this kit properly count on $25k easily. In normal driving below 4k rpm’s car sounds like crap, with a catless down pipe the waste gate rattle sounds awful. There is no fix even with a hybrid. You have to go full frame turbo to get it to sound good, imo.

@@joshpetit44 yeah I’m aware, I switched to ds1 on the built motor and supposedly the rattle will be better. Cars done next week so fingers crossed 🤞.
I'm lucky enough to have this car, I think the best thing about it is that with minimal mods you can get to 500+ hp and have the car as reliable as it was when it left the factory. Mine has been running on 525hp for 3 years and I've never had a single issue with the drivetrain or engine. It eats brake pads though, and the pads for the carboceramics go for 900€ for the front ones only, and they last like 10k km
Yup I'm running stage 2 on E with FBO and lowering springs and upgraded sway bars on both ends. Perfect setup power and handling wise. Haven't dynod it yet but from seeing a similar setup I'm putting out 560hp/420tq to the wheels.

I always been a big fan of that little 5 cyl! It sounds amazing and it's literally a Lambo/Audi V10 cutted in half, that's why it can handle power so easily!
You mean the other way around. The 5 cyl was first.

@@ronsvg97-25 Originally I would have thought a similar firing order but I have one of the old late 90's 5 Cylinder volvo's David mentioned and it sounds COMPLETELY different despite having the same 1-2-4-5-3 firing order. Still sounds awesome and totally unique but not as high pitched of a howl as the RS. It has more of a deep grunt.
Absolutely love these things. Just like the 2.0T motors from the r/gti but with an extra cylinder so it can make even more power tuned and sound amazing in the process. Amazing car
It’s a lot more than just an extra cylinder. A lot of trickery in the head with valves and timing along with more fuel. Plus you have the DQ500 dsg to put it down. I had a 2.0 in the R and now the 2.5 in the RS3. Night and day difference in power and sound. Although the 2.0 is amazing on its own too.
Dude you’re completely wrong. The block that they use in the RS3 is from a Lamborghini V10 block but chopped in half. The internals are also forged and made much stronger to handle more power. The s3 can’t be tuned to the level of the DAZA motor in any way.
Honestly ever since I heard of these makikg big power Im in. This platform might be the one from evos/sti to GTRs. Love the review David, amazing ride.
Don't sleep on the new M340i's. They're just as capable and a better car overall.

so true I bought a 2016 model back in march. so older engine with the iron block. stock 376hp but with stage 1 software giving me arround 420 crank. Was at a 1/4 mile event some weeks ago. did 12 sec flat. there was a new 8y that did 11.6 bone stock

Just swap the rs3 engine + dct + rear axle and goodies, there’s a few companies that can help you like innovative motorsports

I like how these turbo 5 cylinders sound like turbo R8’s or turbo hurican. And the Volvo turbo 5 cylinder sounds like a turbo viper motor.
I have an old S60R and I've been eyeing this RS3 since it came out. This seems like it's european successor in terms of specifications, they even sound the same right down to the burble. Volvo S60R is an 2.5L Inline 5, Turbocharged 6 speed manual transmission(yeah I know RS3 is 7speed) with and Haldex AWD . Sound familiar?
@@dex2531 well the RS3 you can’t get in a manual as far as I’m aware. Also has a different firing order like I mentioned.

This sound will FOREVER be amazing. The 5 cylinderr, is just .. the most glorious sounds. And hearing it accelerating with 800whp just makes it even better. Holyy shit. :o Like some of the people in the comments, I'd also probably end up in something like a Focus RS because I love the manual trans. BUT, for a sound like this, and being able to mod something to push this power or even 550whp .. I would drive this with a dual clutch and survive not having maybe an inch more fun with a manual trans. I could listen to this RS3 all day.

The Audi RS3 Stock.. is a great track car, and when it comes to mods... INSANE. A friend of mine is doing around 800AWH and with the subtleness of a sedan, they do not appear to be that dangerous. LOL Until you get GAPED from a dig or even a roll race.... they are fast as hell.

It's basically a 5 cylinder Lambo with this tune and seeing as Lamborghini is owned by the Volkswagen / Audi group. It's like a baby version of the Huracan / R8 V10 but in a saloon body I guess, I think you mentioned it also being the same engine in the TTRS

aehhh, they did an R8 (R8 V10 RWS). the RS3 Quattro system can split the power as needed so that you can go from fwd to awd to 50%-70%(reports of 100% capable)rwd depending on demand. look up haldex 5 system (it is more aggressive split on the RS3 but its all software controlled)
The ttrs is a mini R8
Imagine if Toyota could have collabed with Audi and put this in engine in the Corolla apex and the Rav 4.

you should. I went from a 513whp evo x to a 2018 Rs3 currently just bolt-ons and it would spank my evo. on e85 with haldex controller I've pulled a 0-60 in 2.8 seconds (street tires on the street) and over 200mph top speed.

@@WynterK I use unitronic tunes and they seem to currently have the most records. However, a new product called DS1 is out now that allows a custom tune and are supported by many tuners. To find one near you join the Dyno Spectrum DS1 RS3 facebook page.

4 years building a ~500HP (hopefully) Audi 1.8t 20v, 😪. I don't have the interface knowledge to wire a 20 year old Audi, to a modern motor. Physical objects are easy, wiring though, uh no.
I love 5 cylinder engines almost any 5 cylinder car is a win in my books there noise is so unique. My buddy had a 5 cylinder gmc Pickup truck that was 2wd and when I say that truck sounded like a small viper I wasn’t lying
David, you HAVE to drive the first gen TTRS with this engine and the manual gearbox!!!
