The king of carwow drag races, the Porsche 911 Turbo S, is BACK! And it's got some new competition to take on... An Audi RS3 saloon?!

    • Having the engine at the back of the car is the best set up for acceleration. A front or mid engine car can't compete with this set up.

  • Mat has made me believe that the Porsche TurboS is quicker than a Bugatti Chiron..The Porsche is a proper daily driver - nothing is going to beat it off the line and you’ll always be the king of the road

  • That audi tune is impressive. I reckon if he had a way better start he would've beaten the porsche. Still amazing how that porsche does 10.1 secs every time though

    • I used to have an S3 with ecu and dsg tune...nothing extreme, just a stage 1 tune! The reason that tuned RS3 can’t get a good launch is most likely due to the dsg’s “Torque Management” system that’s built into its programming. It’s essentially just a software controlled fail safe that prevents too much torque going through the clutches based on gear, load, etc. Apparently, this cannot be overridden even via a dsg software tune from what I was told.

    • makeithappen bourriht - yeah, I know!! Just saying that a tune in the RS3 will still be slightly restricted by the dsg programming! Basically, the dsg doesn’t allow full torque through the drive train in the the first 2 gears. Not a lot of people realise this though. It’s why the RS3 beats it in the gear acceleration runs, cause after 2nd fear, full engine torque is allowed !! Don’t get me wrong...not taking anything away from the Porsche...was just posting so everyone can get a better idea why the launch in it wasn’t that great, when in theory, everyone would expect it to be a lot better :)

  • Been an Audi guy since my first car years ago. Love the rs lineup, would love to have an RS one day. But Porsche has always been the unicorn, the pinnacle, the dream for me

Considering Sacrifice implies that you’re loosing something to gain something in this case sacrificing extra weight for larger brakes.   • For the brake test the brakes themselves aren’t what win the test, it’s the TIRES. You need good contact patch and good coefficient of friction for that. Better brakes will allow you to do it more than once but the TIRES are what determine stopping distance

    • Carbon FIBERC6 the rs still isn’t the best around a track😂 you basically just compared a speedtail to a senna 😂 the only thing the rs and turbo share is body lines the 911 name and displacement. One car is a gt car the other is a track car they look the same but are completely different cars

    • except the gt2 rs held the nurburgring record until a hypercar with f1 technology for a ridiculous price had to be made to beat it... the new gt2 rs isnt even out yet either, so name me a better car around the track? Also out of the Top ~90 fastest production car lap times, The Porsche 911 Holds 20 places in that list, so nearly a quarter of times, then if you just look at porsche as a company they have like over a third of the times in the top ~90 places.... @@ethanstorm1735

    • The tuned 992 Turbo S will be a sub 2 seconds car at 0-60 mph! With just a little more power it gets near 2 seconds flat, because the stock version needs only 2.5 seconds...

    • I think he can predict the launching... Matt departured a few milisecond earlier... Its evident that the RS3 is quicker. Should use a different launching method.

  • Mat I read this somewhere that you should with Turbo S To achieve such a quick launch to 60 mph, put the Turbo S in its Sport mode-not Sport Plus because it engages all of the active aerodynamics-and Sport traction in Porsche Stability Management (PSM). Launch control in Sport mode holds the rpm at around 4000, but smashed the Sport Response button in the center of the steering-wheel-mounted drive-mode dial to jump up to just over 5000 rpm. Then, released the brake

  • When you do the rolling races with the Turbo S, you have to put it in Sport mode, not Sport Plus mode because Sport Plus is for drag races/handling because the wing come up, creating downforce. In Sport mode, the car is more suitable for top speed.

  • Issue 101 I have with this. That engine and Audi takes a while for the launch control to spool the turbo up to max. He was ONLY initiating the throttle on the 2-1 count. Why? My Cupra takes about 2 seconds to spool to full turbo and it'll do 60mph in 5.2 seconds (stock btw, FWD version). If he initiated the launch control on the "3" count I reckon it would of been a closer race. You've GOT to know your car if you are gonna do this vids. I was in a tuned S3 (NOT RS3, S3) the other day hatch back. Was running about 380hp at least, 2010 plate. You could absolute feel the power if moved like a god, and it was MANUAL as well which was awesome. I think he deserves a rematch with being taught how to spool his boost properly...

  • I'm always wondering if these guys driving the 911 turbo s are set in Sport plus and are pushing the additional boost button on the steering wheel. On my 2018 it adds about 50 horses and same torque. It makes a big difference.
