    • Feel so sorry for Eleanor. As for the coyotes that took her dead calf that is just nature's way of disposing of the body.

    • @@deloresrogers685 Yes it is. It's how nature works, and the bison are familiar with it. Hope Eleanor gets lots of attention especially these days. She is so sweet, it hurts me that she is so much alone.

  • Poor Elenor and I’m sorry Dusty that something took the calf before you could get back to it. I know you never intended for that and we’re doing the right thing but sadly predators are ruthless. They don’t care our poor girl was mourning and you wanted to give it a proper burial. Hopefully, she will be better soon I can’t imagine how she feels! 💔😢

    @chrissy7242@chrissy724213 күн бұрын
    • You have to put yourself in their "shoes". If you were a predator and you were hungry, you would welcome any food. They don't know about burial or things we humans do, they just try to survive. We can go to the store to buy our food, they can't survive if they don't take the opportunities they are given. It's how everything is created. They "clean up" and eat dead animals, better that than hunt the ones who are alive.

  • Poor Little Princess Eleanor! First, she lost her baby then he got taken by a predator! It is a wild guess but do you think the breaking and jumping of the fence has something to do may be with the herd trying to chase the predator? For sure, Little Princess Eleanor needs all the love she can get now!

    • I wouldn’t put it past coyotes to have been drawn to the herd in calving season. A cow like Eleanor off by herself giving birth may have made her a target? pehaps it was a coyote that harassed her away from her baby & kept her busy defending it when it needed her attention to take its first breath? ,. Maybe next year Eleanor could be confined/protected in an area close enough to the barn for the dogs to run coyotes off & where “mean” cows could not interfere with her birthing a calf.. Poor Eleanor. ❤ so sad. still looking for her baby. I remember how she would hang around Dusty, just watching him, curious about everything he was doing. She was not afraid to approach him and eat out of his hand.She showed high intelligence . She solved the problem of surviving as an outcast by making up to the Boss . Dusty has always made sure Eleanor got enough to eat to stay healthy and makes sure she gets her own special helping of cubes, away from the others. I sure hope she will have another little red dog , hope she gets pregnant soon to be a Mother agaiin, to carry new life within, through the months till spring..❤

In the horse world you’d be looking for an orphan foal. I know that’s not the case with Bison. Maybe a twin red dog that’s not thriving and needs a Mama? Again, I know that’s not the case with Bison. • First I’m heartbroken for Elenor you must know by sharing them with us they become part of our family too. Second I’m so glad you pronounce it coyote and not coyote-ee. I’m Australian I love your native culture and knowledge and bison.
