As an example, the 20,000+ pokemon that I encountered over the course of completing my Ruby dex (Dang you FEEBAS!) likely over half of them had predators. Predators that are intelligent enough to think "If I just follow this kid around, he'll exhaust a bunch of (insert Pokemon here) for me, and I won't have to do a thing aside not get caught in his rampage myself".
