For those of you that don't know, Article 5 is a NATO article that says: An attack on one NATO country, is an attack on all of them. This is a reference to how operators from different countries help eachother in their countries, I.e US FBI SWAT helping out GSG9 on the map kanal.
Being in the NATO doesn't matter, what he meant was "An attack on a human, is an attack on humanity" kinda deal.
Nato is this: if someone attack US then everyone in Nato will defend US
no, an attack on a member of nato will have all members of nato defend that member to the best of their ability. not if US is attacked it gets helped out.

In the original books only Nato troops were in Rainbow as the Iron Curtain had only just fallen. If you play subsequent games you'll see operators from Egypt, Korea, Spain, Russia, Australia etc

In the beginning cutscene, a Rainbow strike team of 5 Operators are seen inserting into combat. In the ending cutscene, only 3 of them remain. I guess the canon to this story is that 2 of your teammates die in the Siege of Bartlett University.

+EODIFoley I feel like this is a teaser ... or testing the waters kind of a thing. It is like ubisoft wasn't sure if the players would like they type of game and coop focused storyline (cough ghost recon future soldier and assassins creed unity) and decided to introduce the concept, then at the end, show a little teaser of the campaign they plan on making. If players don't like it not too bad. If the players do like it it's a plus for them. All in all Siege feels like a experiment. A good kind of an experiment by Ubisoft and hopefully they'll develop a sequel with a full storyline WITH the characters we have been introduced to (see the operators) and the gameplay from siege which has been improved on.

They wanted to appeal to a bigger audience which it did got Rainbow 6 series to be more popular but it lost its original image in the process. Granted the series was slowly changing but Siege took a BIG leap in left field. I miss the OG Rainbow Six titles, hell Rainbow Six: Patriots was shaping up to be something but yeh....

Rainbow, while more sci-fi in regards to like gadgetry and equipment, is still gritty and realistic as it pertains to theme. The Rainbow Six Franchises identity, and other Tom Clancy works, were always meant to tackle like real world political issues, not necessarily to be niche, mil-sim kind of media. Siege still does this well.

These cut-scenes really show how the game took a drastic turn somewhere in development. Like the E3 showcase, it shows a team of indiscriminate spec-ops guys and not a colorful cast of operators like we see in the actual game.

It's definitely the right Tom. Tom Clancy is the writer of the Rainbow Six book series that started the video games. Hes also the creator of series of Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, HAWX. Rainbow Six is the spec ops organization in all of the games that I just mentioned and are mentioned in all of the books and you're definitely mistaking it when it says "Tom Clancys Rainbow Six" as him being in the real universe.
Yes and No. Tom Clancy cofounded red storm entertainment which is a ubisoft subsidiary now, and was involved in Rainbow Six, Ghost recon, and was involved with alot of the older games. But splinter cell and Hawx he definitely had no involvement in. Eventually ubisoft bought the rights to use his name in every "tactical" game at 2008.
This cutscene gave me a feeling I hadn't felt in a long time. Patriotism.

Article 5 should have been all objectives in one mission. Eliminate terrorists, defuse the chemical weapons, extract survivors, and defend them at the end.
What I want to know is what moron at Ubisoft decided it was a brilliant idea to remove all of the story and lore of R6S by removing both the story mode and T-Hunt. They were absolutely fantastic in my opinion especially since they replaced it with a bland remake of the multiplayer (Quick-play) with terribly boring bots that basically just run around and shoot alongside what seems to be a remake of T-Hunt without any of the interesting parts as all the enemies are literal target dummies that stand still and shoot you with no accuracy whatsoever.

Article 5 best for operators. IQ, Thatcher, Montagne, Glaz, and Blitz IQ: for searchin C4's and bombsites. Thatcher: for using EMP destroying C4's and disabling Bomber so he can't denate its bomb Montagne: Useful for defuser planted, plant it in a corner and have him stand on it with its extendable shield Glaz- easily see throu gas with its scope Blitz- flash incoming suicide bombers to kill them easier, flash other terrorists.

Don't come up with an argument about realism, because that becomes moot as you realise that sledge (an angry British man with a hammer) could make holes through walls and floors on day 1 and iq could somehow see all electric devices from a huge distance away. Also, how does Doc getting you a shot of heroin help twenty bullets lodged in your chest? It never made sense. How are the maps worse? There's no more blatant easy one tap spawn peeks like there used to be on chalet or clubhouse/consulate. More balanced sites. More space. The recoil isn't circular anymore (realism).
You really need one player as IQ on this to keep everyone from dying too fast. The first time I tried it my whole team went right in the front door and was slaughtered in seconds. Lots of teamwork too. The visibility ramps the difficulty up to an insane level.
Nah. IQ is great but my and me learned one important thing without IQ on this map, Use your hearing to find out what place the terrorists are currently in.
I won in just 1 round with IQ, Zofia, Monty, Capitao and Finka

Nope, I sincerely doubt there'll be another R6 game with this in it. The original campaign they had produced was up and cut from the game due to bad press from the media. Thats why this is multiplayer only. and what single player there is- is just shooting aimbot terrorists with no thought put into it.
Sneakz z Ik this is old but the in the Universe Tom Clancy, the counter terrorists eventually fail as the terrorist get funded by Russia which then cover it up to look like it was Europe, WW3 breaks out with the US, Russia and a United Europe which would probably force Team Rainbow to shut down as i think the operators would be forced to go back to their respective countries, i think this game is close to the starting point of WW3 as you can even see the Terrorists use Russian weaponry and are fairly advanced along with attacking around the world which is also in lore, regarding to The Division, the game takes place right after WW3 had started which is why the military and Government were not prepared for the outbreak, Ghost Recon teams operate under JTF which are just USA special ops, Splinter Cell program is able to tell America that the terrorists were funded by Russia and not Europe but due to tensions there are no peace to team up against Russia, HAWX i think is disbanded or works under United Europe or America. I

God the level of detail in these two cutscenes alone is fucking outstanding Example being at around 2:48 - 3:12 you can see the fabric of the unknown operator gear at first resisting the water but then slowly absorbing it until he’s completely drenched God I fucking hate that they had the opportunity to create such an amazing story experience and just kinda pushed it to the side

We could've had something great but for anyone wanting a gritty game i suggest Ready or Not it's a dark gritty PVE game that puts you in the shoes of a swat team sent to take down street criminals, terrorist, peds, and some maniacs living in a forest, having real police officers and swat members help them make the game right and realistic as they can it's currently in early access on steam and has it's own modding platform.
There’s also SWAT 4, but that’s older than Ready or Not. I remember that it has a mission where you have to take down a serial killer and one where you can find out that members of a local cult murdered their own children. You don’t see any bodies, but you do see graves.
Holy shit this would be a incredible campaign. Ubisoft get on it.

5 years ago: so we just stopped a massive attack with almost no vision and a highly potent chemical gas and came out with only 2 deaths now: so we made a fucking stadium where you can see how we operate, and also we aren't even recruiting CTU ops anymore, just people with guns

what an amazing cinematic, they need to make a movie out of this or something. And by movie, i mean something that actually has depth and explores the tragedy of things terrorism on school grounds, instead of just being another "swat team run and gun with explosions", which would be a huge missed opportunity.

The difference this mission had then any other match or game we had in rainbow six is that it gave us a reason to fulfil a mission, we saw the damage those terrorist were doing, we saw what they could unleash if they kept going. Allowing us to interfere with their plans gave us that motivation, when we finally finish the mission and see the results, the devastation, we do accept it. But we are also proud and grateful of our work, as we see those police officers, students and injured victim still alive because of our work. This is by far the only mission in rainbow six that gives us a value of reason and determination.
Man the ending song when the rainbow operator goes out again is the same song they used in the Rainbow 6 crossover mission on wildlands. Imagine how hyped I was during the entire mission with this song in the background XD

Think about this, this mission was probably made with leftover assets and story ideas from Patriots. Patriots could have been one of the best FPS games ever made with such a campaign and cinematics like this. The world we live in is hopeless :'( (not that R6:S is bad anyway)
The weird thing is, is that this cutscene is so out of place within the rest of the game. (not that it was bad, it was really good!) maybe there was a single-player story planned, and corporate made the devs cut it out.

+Thexhiv Considering who Team Rainbow recruits from and the time it takes to train those people to be of that caliber, it doesn't feel realistic although I agree it would be a nice little touch. Another way to do this would be to have Team Rainbow intervene in a "The Division" scenario where the White Masks have an entire city quarantined for several months and later recruit a few veteran survivors (exceptional badasses that went above and beyond the call of duty to keep not only themselves safe but many others as well) into their member pool.

Everyone's talking about siege having a campaign, but I'd just be happy if the lore was good and it surrounded the White Masks like the end cinematic set it up to. We still could have had Kali and Nighthaven, Harry, and we still could have had all the same ideas in the game as we do now, but with a much better enemy whose motivations we could learn with time and with team Rainbow actually fighting terrorists like they're supposed to, rather than a game, infighting, and a mysterious guy bent on taking down rainbow. In other words, the fucking ice capades. Siege lore had SO much potential, but unfortunately this is the timeline we're stuck with.
I really want this as a standalone co-op campaign for a new Rainbow Six game

I had blast playing this mission :D It was kinda hard and so fking intense.Fighting countless enemies in yellow mists(kinda reminds me a COD:BO1 mission)
Connor Mac I would've had a blast, but all the people on my team TK'd each other and then the host would leave. I TRIED FOR half an hour to find a good match. Didn't find one

That sad moment when you realize this game could of had an amazing evolving coop campaign with real depth and meaning...But now all I do is rage when I get fucking spawn peaked by Jager and get sniped on plane by Glaz.
This shoulve been the first mission, and the rest of the game wouldve been more scenarios like article 5.
