As an owner of a hobby farm with only 3 horses, most people don’t realize the expense of horse ownership. Fortunately my wife and I had incomes to support and maintain our small herd. Square bale hay here in Connecticut is $8-10 a bale. We need 400 bales every season. Every 6-8 weeks the farrier comes to trim, reuse the shoes or replace $250.00. The grain, fresh water and treats add up every month. We just put up a new barn 10 years ago. So you see it’s a costly hobby to get into and maintain. Not to mention vet bills twice a year. ($75.00) just to visit your barn before any treatment. You can’t cheap out on your horses. They deserve all the care you can give. I just subscribed. Thanks for the quality and informative videos. Thanks for watching everyone. We charge very little to trim these neglected cases. Many of you want us to report the owners. While this seems like a good idea, it sure would keep these horses from coming to our school for help. Many owners would fear the consequences of getting help. ($75.00) just to visit your barn before any treatment. You can’t cheap out on your horses. They deserve all the care you can give. I just subscribed. Thanks for the quality and informative videos. Whimsical Wind Farm.
Dude if you can't afford it, sell your horses and your farm. Don't make your horses suffer because of your miscalculation on what you can financially handle.

Same situation here. 4,000 to treat Lyme. Get the check book out!
@youtube-ventura You suffer from a lack of comprehension skills. The poster clearly states that he and his wife have the money to fund their little farm. He wrote only to share the fact that people get horses without knowing how expensive it is and he shared some examples. Then you barge in accusing him of being a dirt-broke animal abuser, all because you can not comprehend reading. Go back to school and try again. Meanwhile, quite commenting and showing the world how pathetic your skills are.
@TWay-yf5zm You're agreeing with a fool. Go back to the poster's comment and find where he says he and his wife CAN'T afford their farm...go on. What you'll find is a man saying they were financially prepared to afford their hobby farm and horses. He did a good service by listing some real costs they pay that people need to be aware of. youtube-ventura did NOT understand a word the man clearly wrote. Then YOU come along like a backwoods bobble-head UH HUH UH HUH AYUCK YUCK YUCK DATS RIGHT! I hope you're at least intelligent enough to be embarrassed and delete your comment to ventura so the nonsense isn't there for all time.
Thanks for watching everyone. We charge very little to trim these neglected cases. Many of you want us to report the owners. While this seems like a good idea, it sure would keep these horses from coming to our school for help. Many owners would fear the consequences of getting help. We keep it anonymous and recommend more frequent farrier care. This helps us leave the door open for horses that need help. Please subscribe and share these videos your friends so we can keep doing this work we love! It is free for you to subscribe and it helps us and these horses so much!
thanks for the information. We can never know the story behind a neglected horse. it's pointless to assume. What we can do to help them is support your channel.
You have an enormous amount of compassion to do this 💖💖
I understand your point of view….but don’t you feel a sense of duty for the horses welfare? The poor horse needs to be fed and looked after properly.
Wonderful, sensitive work. So what you’re saying is that this horse is going back to the same owner? He’s not a rescue? What a shame.
@@michellen1125... he just explained it! Duh
That poor horse, he must've been in so much pain! his hooves look so much better when you're done, i'm sure he'll feel amazing in comparison once he gets used to them being a proper length again.
The owners don't deserve him.
That is what I was thinking. That has to be extremely painful. Poor horse.
yeah, better than the neglectful owner selling him to slaughter, ain'it?
@@kelperdude He's a rescue.
The amount of science and craftsmanship that goes into helping these horses is just astounding. I hope his owner brings him in more regularly so he can get back to a normal life!
That horse will never be right.... the legs are bent and deformed. He's better off, by far. But I can't imagine he will be sound enough to use. Ever.
Thank you for helping this horse, which is a beautiful creature who deserved more than this. ❤
This is my 4th time watching this video, I can only speak for myself but I like the way you describe the hoof what we’re looking at and then your game plan or goal. No loud music just informative narration and demonstration of the proper technique, thank you again.
Yes I enjoyed that too. Just a great informational video.
That was hard to watch. Hoping he's been rescued and is on his way to a better life. So glad people like you exist.
Those were the most horrific conditions I have ever seen on any horse! The work you have done is absolutely bloody Brill! What talent and compassion.
That poor neglected animal :( So glad there's someone like this guy to help and hopefully make their life better.
thank you for giving him a little bath, too! that mud caked into his fur couldn't have been comfortable
I hope the owner does come back in the 6-8 week period and that you could film the followup work, I would be interested in following this horse. Thank you for showing that even with foot neglect, a well trained and experienced farrier can bring the horse back to healthy feet.
Owner should be arrested
What a patient, calm horse. Thank you for helping him. I hope he is doing much better now.
Dude he is zonked out of his noggin
That looked like incredibly hard work! I'm not a farmer, I know nothing about horses, but what u just did for this animal was amazing, brother! Just to take away the pain he was in was worth it. Well done, sir! Well done!
The sheer neglect is criminal. The immediate relief you can give these horses just by a regular trim can never be understated.
No matter what has happened to that horse in the past, thank GOD he found his way to you! ❤🐎
That’s a good way to look at it. It’s easy to judge, but braver to move forward like these farriers are doing. Nice to see the horses getting help.
It's so amazing that there are people with the ability to help an animal like this and an owner that is willing to get the right people out the help this poor horse. Thanks for sharing.
The horse moving around his hooves just breaks my heart. Thank you for this! I’m so glad the horse is in better condition
So glad people like you exist. Your work really makes a difference in these animals lives ❤
Those look totally horrendous. How could anyone let a horse get that bad ?? Thankfully you are going to try to help this poor horse.
I choose to tell myself that these are the stories of horses owned by someone who died. In the months of hospital stays and funeral arrangements and divvying up property and possessions, the family remembers to feed the horse... but it takes all that time for the non-horse people to look at the poor boy's feet and ask, "are hooves supposed to look like that?" And then it takes them a while to find someone that can help.
@adde9506 that's usually how it goes in cases this severe
@Ksweetpea I really hope so because that's a sad state to find an animal in.
@@adde9506Might be a good time to remind folks that if you have pets of any kind, make sure you have arrangements made if something happens to you.. so your loved pets have a home and proper care right away.. ❤
It takes at least two years for hooves to overgrown so much, this family must've take care of horse for quite a long time
Amazing watching you work! I am so glad that the poor horses have you on their side. Thank you for a satisfying video of hoof restoration.
Thank you showing us how to help out the voiceless and they know you're helping them thank you for being there
Thank you for posting this. It is very sad to see a horse so neglected. But encouraging to know there are farriers who have the knowledge and experience to address such problems. If only owners took their financial and other responsibilities more seriously.
In six weeks, does he get some custom shoes to help rotate his bone, ligaments, and tendons back into anatomical alignment? It looks like even with the fantastic job you did getting him back on flat feet, things are still pretty out of whack. It's going to take a while for the neglect to grow out either way. I hope the owner keeps with it; I know you will.
100% what I was about to ask and say, so @adde9506 well said!
I couldn't understand why the horse wasn't gotten horseshoes
@@HIZ1975the horse is probably not doing anything that requires it has shoes, and with everything going on with its hind feet it makes me wonder if it may not be possible to safely shoe those at this point.
@@HIZ1975 If the owner couldn't manage a trim every 8 - 10 weeks, they certainly aren't going to do shoes every 6 weeks.
Shoes would get in the way.
To me, you farriers are the most unbelievably valuable skilled labor in the world!! There is really no profession that requires so much painstaking, careful foresight! And to free a suffering creature from such misery! God bless you!
Wow. That was a mess. Thank you for helping the horse. ❤
this poor boy :((( thank you for the work that you do, it gives me so much hope knowing that there are people like you out there with the compassion and dedication needed to care for these animals properly. i'm sure you have touched the souls of every horse you have helped ♥
I’m always impressed to see you find the correct foot inside all the awful overgrowth.
That broke my heart!!!! I’m so glad you could help him. 🥹
Excellent work and I enjoy your compassion for the horses you work on.
What an amazing job you did. How awesome the horse looked. Hope owner gets a clue. ❤
Thanks for helping him....he looks like a good boy who deserves a better home.....😊 A combination of brawn, knowledge & an artistic bent makes for a beautiful job!🎉
OMG 😱Thank you so much for helping this beautiful horse....my heart is so grateful for your compassion and care. Namaste'
I keep watching this video, feeling so sad in the condition. It thrills me how ya'll work miracles. Bless you and thank you for this rescue!
Thank you so much for helping this horse. I pray they do bring him back in six weeks and continue to give him the care that he needs.
TO SEE SUCH NEGLECT OF THIS HORSE IS, MORE THAN HEART BREAKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU DID A LOT TO HELP THIS HORSE OUT & THANKS FOR SHARING!!! Do take care. Fl.
Amen ! So happy you have helped this Neglected Horse God Bless you !
I do admire this guy for not berating the owners but instead he just gets on with giving relief to the horse.
This is heart breaking to watch the condition this poor horse was in and can't believe the amount of pain you figure 1,000 #s of weight of pressure on those feet before trimmed and corrected the best it can be for now Thank you for the video and giving him a bath brushing out his mane and tail the most attention this horse has gotten in awhile attention and love he needs to have! Great job on feet and care he got thank you for what you do
Ouch, that poor baby boy . Hope his cloppers feel better x
That poor dear creature. As a human with severe corns until recently, I could not walk properly, always in pain, could not wear so many types of shoes so I try to imagine how this was for the horse and I can't. Not even close. I can only hope that he is more comfortable now and having some life.
God Bless You for coming to this horse's rescue. I pray God Blesses you richly for your kindness. And Bless this horse with a new Life of Love and Care.
What a brilliant job you did I really hope this horse makes a good recovery
I really hope that the owner lets you keep helping this beautiful horse.
Thank you so much for helping this beautiful horse ❤️❤️
You work so hard. That horse is blessed to be in your compassionate care.
This neglect makes my heart hurt. 😔 God bless you. 🙏
Omg amazing job🙌👏👏👏❤❤❤ i definitely want to see him for an update!!!
thank you for your hard work and giving this beautiful animal a better life.... I pray that the owner appreciate your work, but also give this horse a better life.
Thank you for restoring this horse's ability to stand, helping his life!❤
Words don’t even come to me to express how amazing you are!! Thank you for all you do and Many Blessings!!
Poor horse! I imagine a little blood is probably just like trimming one's nails too close to the quick. A little annoying, but nothing terrible. Thank you for doing such a wonderful job on this horse! I can't imagine how uncomfortable the poor creature must have been!
It hurts my heart to see horses or donkeys and mules with horribly neglected feet! But it's always nice to see a capable farrier get them straightened out enough to have a comfortable surface on the bottom of the hooves for the animal to stand and walk on!!! Good job!! 👍👍❤️❤️❤️
Such neglect is hard to so. Thank you for making this video for awareness!
You are brilliant, well done. Thankyou for helping this sweetheart of a horse. THE OWNER SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ANYWHERE NEAR ANIMALS AT ALL FOR LIFE ! WHAT A CRUEL PERSON. Thank goodness for people like you. Alovely kind compassionate man and brilliant farrier . Hope the horse has a comfortable good life now xx
Wow! That was amazing. You did a great job on all the feet. I'm sure it will take him sometime to adjust to his new feet but I think he'll feel so much better. I hope the owner will continue to bring him to you so he can be trimmed on a regular bases and that will probably improve those back feet a great deal.
Hoping this horse gets regular trims and has a good life. Thank you for helping
Thank you for having a place where these cases can be helped. ❤❤
That poor sweet horse. Thank you for helping him. ❤
Do you have the ability to keep horses to ensure monitoring and close follow up? I don't own a horse, never have, but watching you repair these hoofs and give these horses a better way of life is heart warming. Thank you.
Thank you kind sir for your patience and skill. That poor horse certainly deserved better, and your efforts helped to achieve that.
Thank you for helping to heal these beautiful animals❤
Wow! You worked a miracle for that horse! Doing God's work. Bless you
Just seeing that thumbnail is horrifying. He absolute pain this horse was in…
Thank you for helping this horse. There are possibly numerous reasons why his owner neglected this animal, but hopefully that will change or he will sell the horse.
i've been watching your videos for a while. I really respect your try and your work. I watched another channel where the farrier gave up. That horse was happy to eat! that's a great sign. thank you for helping him.
The distortion on the back feet reminds me of photos of Chinese foot binding from centuries past. This horse should be so much more comfortable moving forward!
Until you told us he was sedated, I was totally amazed that he was tolerating that saw. I should have seen it by how his head was so droopy and how much he was leaning on you. I don't know his back story, but hopefully, his future is a bit brighter. You do really good work. The horses you service are lucky critters. Well done! I'm proud to share your state. Edit: I just checked out your FB page, and you're onlu about 20 minutes away!
Thank you Sir for all your work and care for this poor horse .x
When Michelangelo created David, he said "I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free." You are setting these hooves free, buried in the growth!
Hats off to u finding a hoof under all that ..that actually almost looks normal. You sir are damn good at your job !
Why do people get animals and then ignore them?
That was incredible work. Bless you for caring so much.
Sir, I'm glad you know your business, I'm glad you were there to help these service animals. A Horse is a beautiful animal. A horse has served us human beings well for many hundreds of years. May God Bless you, and those like you.
Poor guy. Thats a shame. Some people don’t need animals. You do a fantastic job. Well done pal.
I really admire your skill in helping these neglected horses, while the horses are sad to see, watching an expert at work is a treat.
Thank you for helping this horse!
Thank you for taking care of this horse❤❤❤
Bless you for the work you do. I am glad you sedated him for this. It may be the most comfortable he has been in a long time but hopefully better days are ahead.
I was sweating - and heaving - through this whole video. Couldn't stop until the end! God bless you!! ❤️
This is so sad it breaks my heart thank you for helping this beautiful animal.
Very talented, amazing job thank you for sharing 😊
I was about to ask if he got a little sleepy juice before you started. So happy for the outcome on this, thank you ❤
Wow!! This guy did a FABULOUS JOB on this horse's feet!! Bless you sir for making this horse's life sooooo much better!!😊
This makes me sick to my stomach. Thank you for helping this horse. ❤️
Did someone else take ownership of this horse besides the people who let this happen? I hope this horse has a soft landing at a sanctuary. You did a great job for the first trim. Will you be trimming him again? Or will the new owners continue with better care? ❤🐎😎
Such a shame that the owner neglected this poor animal. He deserves so much better attention.
im in no way a horse guy but i give you maximum respect for the work you do looking after these animals, thank you sir.
Awesome job! Thanks for all that you do and let's hope this horse comes back so you can help some more. I'd love to see how it all turns out.
Incredible work!!❤
Do the owners ever get reported for neglect? I hope so.
Fr but they probably paid a fortune of that hush money.
Oh bless that poor sweet little horse and bless you- whoever let that poor creature get to that point, I would like to "take them out back" and have a "nice chat" with them... it would be my greatest pleasure. Have a WONDERFUL life horsey!
Bless you young man for everything you do for these poor horses.
Who in the hell are the owners of these horses?! Why are they allowed to own animals when they neglect them so egregiously?
Probably, they aren't anymore.
