I am Mongolian and came across numerous archeological sites whenever I travel to the countryside. Once an archeologist told me it is easy to locate graves as they have stone indications on the surface but the majority of the graves are empty because it was tradition for enemies to dig each other's ancestors graves as a sign of humiliation and disrespect. Most of the graves were dug up and emptied hundreds of years ago. Since Mongolian empire always consisted of tribes perhaps that is why he wanted to hide his grave.
Yea me too
Eyyy same broo

WOw!!! Funny, informative and thought provoking as always!!! I've been fascinated with Ghengis Khan since I was a little girl (a very long time ago) in geography and history lessons; of course most of what we were taught about this famous man has since turned out to be totally wrong, but the fascination remains...what a great ruler he was!!! Thank you so much for all your hard work, I look forward to all your posts knowing that I'll learn something new while chuckling every time...Oh! if only our history lessons had been half as interesting!!! Hugs and appreciation from a fellow Brit 😊😉🤩
It’s surprising that people do have good side of Chingis. Actually his life was very humble and simple. Only role of ruler made him look like a tough one or bad. But as an orphan he devoted to his family and his land, stood against all odds, yet, he just did everything he had to, nothing extraordinary, but later on his reputations grew bigger but he was still temujin. I’m glad that there are more people have true story about him -than fake one. I’m Mongolian but this doesn’t make me to glorify chingis, I just want truth to be ‘untouched’.
It would not surprise me if all these stories were true. That is, maybe there was a burial on the steppe, and one in the mountains, and one near the court, but in two of these cases the casket was empty -- or more likely, housed an unfortunate double. This would be sure to generate conflicting stories that would confuse potential grave-robbers.
Did they leave the 2000 bodies there? I don't think a few soldiers could move them all? And they were also killed. So would it be somewhere with 2000 skeletons?
They just listed the dead as covid casualties...simple.
And a long body trail leading up to the bastard 🤣
Good idea actually... at least a mass grave is probably nearby. That is if the story is true...
why move when you can use burn them all ?

In Young Justice, there is no tomb because Genghis Khan was another alias used by the immortal caveman Vandal Savage. The whole part about his tomb's location being obscured was likely a tale told so that nobody would know Savage was immortal and he could adopt another identity.
That means Vandal Savage has canonically raped thousands of women, contributed to the downfall of the Middle East's golden age, and was responsible for the death for 10% of the worlds population at the time
I have a thought why it's unlocatable. Let's set aside the essentially mythological stuff like the notion that everyone associated with the funerary procession was killed so that no living person remained who knew where he was interred. It may simply be explained by no part of his body now existing, nor having existed for centuries. With in ground interments, depending on soil chemistry, no discernible trace of a person may remain after as little as 30 years. He died almost 800 years ago. He mouldered and there isn't so much as bones or teeth left.
He could have had a Sky funeral, where the body is cut into pieces and offered to vultures to eat. It's a traditional Mongolian and Tibetan practice dating back thousands of years.
That’s a possibility but I’m not sure he would have been treated as just a mongol he was the founder of a nation after all
Is it legal to do a sky burial today? Asking for a friend.
@@seanbrown4706 some does
Mongolians never had a practice where they cut body into pieces and feed it to the wild vultures. However Mongolians had the practice of leaving the dead without burying so that wild life can eat it and the remains could dissolve back to the nature. That could be the reason why his tombs hadn't been found yet.

I started reading a great series about genghis khan called wolf of plains. It's a 5 book series. Just insane. One of the craziest things i read about was the falling of petals. Something like 60,000 chinese girls jumped off the wall at night in white dresses after being under siege for something like 3 years. Truly an insane story. Amazing read

There is no tomb. The genius had himself cremated and this is all his greatest achievement: Tricking billions of people across thousands of years of time.
so it was "just a social experiment?"
that’d be so cool
That thought keeps on niggling at me. He could have been cremated and his ashes scattered across his kingdom.
That's not true at all.
This was a hypothetical joke. There is definitely a tomb.
It was a common custom at that time for a sky burial. Wrapped in cloth and left on the mountains for the eagles and be forever connected to the sky and mountains.
I love these videos. They are educational while entertaining. Keep it up!
Wouldn't you just sort of look at the other guys and be like "well, he's dead do we still have to do this?"
Yes. A quick easy vote. “Raise your hand if you want to to die for the dead guy!” Everyone else kills the ones with their hands up, ditch the uniforms then become goat herders in Hungary or whatever. Let's be honest. The Great Khan was the original Chad. He outwitted his enemies as a child. He united a group of tribes who hated their kin as much as their enemies. And conquered an empire that relatively exceeded any ever. More importantly, 15% of Asian, and a lesser, but significant percent of European males carry his DNA. Most importantly, when he died he said "FU let me rest in peace". That is a life the most based today can only fantasize.
He and Alexander were ones of the biggest badasses of history.
“The Great Khan was the original Chad.” Has to be the best sentence I’ve read in my life, thank you LMAO
Added to that he accomplished all his conquering in 20ish years if I listened to this cool dude correctly.
He also started at least the concept of universal education when he was never given a chance to have an education himself. He insisted on equality for women which was unknown then. His kids all got the education he had wanted himself. We think of him just as a killer, but he was pretty amazing as a leader as well.

Hey I appreciate what you do. These videos are good to just listen
I have to give Gengis Khan mad credit. Dude was dead and still squad wiped 2,000 people.
If he truly had 2,000 people plus soldiers killed after his funeral, then they should be looking for mass graves. That would point them in the right direction, since that's far too many bodies to move and where they were killed is probably where they were buried. They probably didn't travel too far from his tomb before being killed, so his grave would be within proximity to the mass grave.
Very good idea
If they really put that much effort into that slaughter plan, do you truly think that they wouldn't have moved each body to a different location? The mongols weren't stupid, and they clearly had the man power and resources to do so.
But then a mass grave of 2k people would seem like something fairly normal of the period :D
who said they were buried? Left alone wild animals will scatter it all on the 4 winds
Damn right now you're thinking brother

This felt like a history video disguise but I absolutely enjoyed it.
What if he had a general that was dedicated to him dig up his body and possessions with a small contingent of soldiers, relocated the body and possessions far away from there, killed the soldiers then traveled and killed himself? If that is the case it is very unlikely anyone will find Genghis Khan's body. It would be pure luck if they did. Just a thought
If he was dedicated to him why would he kill himself when he knows that he won't tell anyone lol
@@user-zi8lg5qu1h Because that is what was asked of him by Genghis Khan himself. If the only person that knew is dead then the location also goes with him. Didn't think that one through did you.
Yeah, I hate it when that happens.
Or several fake funerals done at the same time. Use a forest to hide a tree.
I feel like that would bring more opportunity for a mistake somewhere. By that I mean someone stealing shit or even people following and finding the location themselves. I feel like someone out there used to know where he lays other than the people that buried him in the first place. But honestly what you said is a full possibility and would be an amusing story to try and follow.
The only place I can think that his grave/tomb might be is at the head of the Onan River. I choose this spot because it's said that this is where the Mongols first began. According to their origin story in their folklore "A Blue Wolf took as his spouse a Fallow Doe. They settled at the head of the Onan River to raise their offspring, and there were born the Mongols."
They took him to the most sacred mountain at the foot of the steppes, Bogdain Khid and built the city of Ulaanbaatar around him to protect the tomb
I remember reading this in aoe2, never thought games would educate me about history
If this needs to be secret then why relate to his birth place? Even those many lives were given to this- must be hard to be found

Since Genghis Khan body buried in unmarked grave without any treasure on it (just like any other graves), even if someone find the grave and dig the body (or what's left of it), nobody know that grave belongs to Genghis Khan or just a random nomad guy buried in the middle of nowhere. A French Archaeological team have certainly made a case for the location of his burial, through extensive circumstantial evidence: That is to say he most likely lay in a large burial mound alongside a handful of other royal burials, but they will never have the permission to excavate. Evidence also suggests that the royal mound is still looked after by mysterious caretakers....

True. At least Thoughty2 has the sense not to trial the product on his own team. Freddie (Tavarish) is doing the same ads and he's using the product himself, and pretending that he's growing his hair back. He even puffs his hair up and uses concealer for those promos. Only problem is there are all these videos on his 2nd channel where he works on cars and they film his head and his baldness is exactly the same as when he started. Keeps is a scam, no doubt about it.
Why would Genghis Khan need to take anything with him to the afterlife? He would just conquer that as well.
And that he did, he also met Tom Brady and tried to make a deal with him. Didn't work out well.
0:59 before you go and explain why this really happened or something I want to take my best guess. There's no tomb. And if there was it has Sunk ages ago beneath the waves.
@@KarlJayce Uh, I'm gonna need evidence to back that up. As we have multiple accounts of people visiting Alexander The Great's tomb site up to 390 AD. From 323 BC to 390 AD. That's over 600 years of recorded history where people throughout the times record visiting it. There is a theory it was destroyed after Christianity took over to prevent worship of anyone who may be deemed as a god, since the last recorded mention was in 390 AD. There is another theory his tomb was moved to a Catholic Church after Christianity took over, as Paganism generally wasn't tolerated from a monotheistic religion. Unless you just mean that it's probably been destroyed by now, it definitely did exist, the mystery is just finding it, or at least the remains of it.

Actually, Ghengis Khan was claimed to be Turk by himself and always used Turkish in govermental and daily (when their writings translated to Latin it turned out to be Turkish). And it's written "Cengiz Han" in Turkish and his real name is "Timuçin". I am not a historian tho and as far as I know this is a topic disscussed a lot. So don't come at me please guys.
I would like to correct a fact. Genghis did come to India, but he returned from the border. He never captured India. Nobody knows why he did that.
Its because, there was no need of him to capture India at the time... At the time, there was a invasion going on throughout china and iran, and also, the Land was completely new to Genghis khan and his army. Given the fact that, he already had a pretty big Kingdom to rule, Entering into a New Unknown Land was completely not necessary for him at the time. That is why, He never invaded india
He was most likely buried somewhere secretly while others made a fake funeral, which became these myths
There's also a strong chance he doesn't have a burial in that sense. Some studies show cultures of the area may have also practiced sky burial.
I mainly only watch for the words "Hey, Thoughty2 here" and "Thanks for watching" ❤
For the longest time I thought he said 42
@@alfakrullen reading back, I can understand why from another's perspective this may be interpreted differently to how I intended. Although I'd like to stress that it wasn't meant in the way it may appear, and that I merely meant that I find the words heartwarming and always puts a smile on my face.
And the little wink at the end. I agree he's a heartwarming kind of guy
As a Canadian, I understand the sheer size of 1.5 million Square kilometers, but it always sound so anticlimactic due to the size of my country
I'd love to have a game of Risk with Thoughty2
there is also the fact that the mongolian people revere him so much that even to this day fanatics still hold true to his desire of keeping his resting place hidden that they would even kill to prevent its discovery.
