SKI-DOO Summit 850 Turbo vs Non Turbo v2

Comparing a 2019 Summit 850 with a 165x3 inch track to a new 2022 Summit 850 Turbo 165x3. Yes, I'm poaching tracks. It was just me riding between the two and I was doing laps trying to break out the top. This is not intended to be a fresh tracks run-off comparison.

  • If u track poached the non turbo as much as u did w the turbo I think it would have made it to the top too

    • I think that is utter nonsense. The NA had seven pulls and each time right in its same track for 90% of the pull. The turbo didn’t get into the track until at least half way up and made it in less than half the pulls. Granted the track gets set up better each time but if you think the difference between an NA and a turbo is track poaching, I have to strongly disagree. I just went turbo this year and there is no comparison. 2023 turbo Carries 180 hp to 8,000 feet. At that altitude I believe the NA has 125 hp. No comparison.

  • those climbs are sketchy due to the open area, possibilities of avalanches are pretty good there take the precautions

    @Anonymous_1210@Anonymous_1210 Жыл бұрын
    • Eh, open area doesn't help with avalanches but just because its open doesn't mean its avalanche-prone... if you know an area well enough you know whats avalanche prone and what isn't... I wouldn't call this a sketchy spot compared to some of the shit I've ridden

  • Thats not a pull I'd poaching most all way up and goin out of the poach track to continue, that naturally give 2nd 3rd etc run more momentum. Not a legit test..

  • Its because they have it in their heads that a turbo sled is way better when all it is, is a keep up with the next guy and who can say they have the next greatest sled when in reality years back we were riding and doing the same things with older sleds and shorter tracks

    • @@kjmahanna5138 yep. Just got my turbo sled last week and got to try it out this weekend for the first time. Coming from 2 gen 4 summit which were awesome, along with the gen 3 I had before that. I didn’t think I was good enough at the time to warrant more power, so I progressed my skills to the point where I hit a plateau and now, finally, after about a decade of riding modern sleds in the back country, found myself craving more power because the altitude inhibited my abilities. The new turbo sled is worlds better than the old sled; I can perform techniques that were very difficult before at high altitude, and with the shorter tunnel it aids in maneuvering as well. People like Kevin are delusional if they think they can access the same terrain I do with even an NA sled.
