    • @@Katpitz7 He's a moderately successful comedian, but he was one of the most amazing interviewers I've ever seen. Easily up there with Johnny Carson or Larry King. He was nominated for an Emmy and WON a Peabody award while on the Late Late Show for his interview with Desmond Tutu. Larry King absolutely loved coming onto the show. He knew how to get guests to relax and open up, and while much of the show was carefully managed, the interviews were always off-the-cuff.

    • The canned laughter began because audiences stopped laughing their nuts off at the same kind of stories every week, scripts stop people saying what they want and getting the studio into trouble, the shows today only exist the way they do because of the older ones, if there was only 1 or 2 this wouldn't happen but now there are thousands and they are all competing, fake bs is inevitable And when you look at vewiership the newer shows get more veiws than the older ones giving credance to their efforts and making sure they continue the way they are

  • I've just realized that the first few seconds of every interview on this show are actually a split-second audition for an evening spot on Craig Ferguson's improv comedy team, which plays only if the guest passes the audition.
