All these years later and STILL nobody can hold a candle to TVs Craig Ferguson.
WHAT? he's probably one of the least successful "comedians" on television. based off of numbers inside my own brain.
I gave up on late night after Craig left. Its just too rude. They either ignore the poor guest or give them 5 minutes to flog their latest project.
i like conan too, but that’s about it
@@Katpitz7 He's a moderately successful comedian, but he was one of the most amazing interviewers I've ever seen. Easily up there with Johnny Carson or Larry King. He was nominated for an Emmy and WON a Peabody award while on the Late Late Show for his interview with Desmond Tutu. Larry King absolutely loved coming onto the show. He knew how to get guests to relax and open up, and while much of the show was carefully managed, the interviews were always off-the-cuff.
Noone in show business has the balls these days, alas.
All of the sudden this was a flawless British humor show. Hugh was brilliant on British TV.
This made me miss Hugh as a comedian. His comedy roles were what made me a fan. His incredible skill in his role as House gave me new respect also
I know right. The daft prince in Blackadder was hilarious.
You make it sound as though he's dead.... LOLZ. BTW, his daughter is now about 30. 😀
He was hysterical as the dimwitted prince regent in the second season of Blackadder.
He is a fantastic actor, drama and comedy. Now he has the Netflix movie, “All the Light We Cannot See” -
Give Avenue 5 a watch - he plays a fake intergalactic cruise captain! A good comedy role, I enjoyed it👍🏼😌
A delightful breath of fresh air, compared to the scripted, hollow, canned laughter and fake fun which has taken over the late night 'talk shows'.
Craig is missed for sure. But today, he would not be able to say anything 🤷♂️
The canned laughter began because audiences stopped laughing their nuts off at the same kind of stories every week, scripts stop people saying what they want and getting the studio into trouble, the shows today only exist the way they do because of the older ones, if there was only 1 or 2 this wouldn't happen but now there are thousands and they are all competing, fake bs is inevitable And when you look at vewiership the newer shows get more veiws than the older ones giving credance to their efforts and making sure they continue the way they are
I didn’t think about that. Today he would get into loads of trouble.
I could rewatch Craig doing the late late show over and over again, it’s brilliant, off the cuff and hilarious
@@benoitcloutier8803What nonsense, and what a vile insult. Craig Ferguson is legendary for not punching down and being fully accountable.
Around 10:30 when Craig mentions Hugh's daughter dating, Hugh's facial contortions and sighing is brilliant.
I thought his remark at 11:12 "I liked the way you sort of shaped the whole thing" was brilliant, it made me laugh the most in the whole interview, but starngely the audience did not think it was that funny...
@@tijmen7953 it's more of a witty remark to smile about and admire, rather than a laugh out loud kind of joke for me anyway
Hugh is an absolute king of "going with it" ... and then some, a comedic king
Golem Creation truly offers a diverse range of collectible figurines, and I recently spotted a Hugh Laurie figurine that joined my collection. If you're looking for something special, it's worth checking out.
Hugh Laurie would make a great Bond villain
Speaking of Hugh Laurie, I delved into the figurine collection on Golem Creation, and wow, they have truly incredible pieces. I spotted a figurine of him that would be a centerpiece for any collector.
Never thought of that til right now but Holy sht. Craig too but don't think he could do serious enough. Maybe a parody?
He sort of did in “The Night Manager.”
Missed opportunity!
I think Laurie would make a great Bond!
Craig - The antithesis of a talkshow host. But this one is even more special - Hugh and Craig talking total bollocks for 12 minutes. Total joy - what more could you ask for?
Antithesis to the new era of talkshow. Craig is old school, that is why he is so good.
@@nevilo1 Yes, he really is. How he managed to do it for so long is a mystery and just wonderful - I also miss Geoff Peterson, as well, voiced by Josh Robert Thompson and built by the late, great Grant Imahara. And Hugh Laurie - one of our UK National Treasures, along with his m’colleague, Stephen Fry, plus David Attenborough of course, and a few others.
Perfection..... No one did at better than Craig. 💜❣️💜❣️💜❣️💜
@@funniebunnie4u thanks for your reply, and I totally agree!
Utter/ B if you don't mind
Absolutely brilliant. Craig is the best late night host ever, and Hugh is one of the best actors. They both have self-deprecating senses of humour that work so well together. (Brit. sp. to honour Hugh.)
It's lovely to see someone comment who actually uses correct grammar and spelling. I have read so many comments which lead me to believe that the average person needs a lot more education. ❤

@@virginiamccarter6638...no need for an apostrophe before ..and..though.
Self-defecating humour is the best.
I seriously love this guy, Hugh Laurie. I've been a fan of his since i was old enough to watch TV. He's wise and humble and always funny.
I grow up watching Stephen Fry, Hugh Lawrie, Rik Mayall (R.I.P) et al and from day one to the present, it never ceases to amaze me how entertaining, nice, real and sincere these guys and their cohorts are. That era of comedians had humble pie on both shoulders, as if they can't believe their success and that it's just a fleeting dream.
Two super witty and charming gents having fun. Love them.
they make a perfect double act
Some time ago on BBC, Hugh had a show called "A BIT OF FRY AND LAURIE" with Steven Fry. Absolutely wonderful if you can find it.
Makes perfect sense that they would - Hugh has a ton of experience at that kind of thing from Black Adder and A Bit of Fry and Laurie, while Craig's got decades of standup and his time on the Late Late Show. They're both expert at playing off of another funny person.
The awesome part about the unpredictable content these two make in this episode is that it feels almost like a funny and entertaining evening with your friends.
...... tis
Love, love, love this duo! Both so funny And intelligent!
Definitely
This is beyond excelent. Plus, you get to see how Craig goes full Scottish accent as he is talking to a fellow UK guy. A piece of classic impro plus comedy plus quality.
I'm dying 😅 "You ever had an implant in your mouth?" 😂😂😂
OMG, I miss Craig on the Late Late Show so much. He was my absolute favourite. TV's Craig Ferguson FTW!
Absolutely. I saw him do stand up in person. I love him.
Oh God, I love these two guys. Separately, of course, but also this is one of the most dynamic, fun interviews ever!
This is great. They share the British sense of humour, with its subtlety & understatement & play well off each other
Well, a UK sense of humor anyway. One of them isn't British.
@@Bapuji42Good point. He does do a bloody good accent though does Hugh.
@@Bapuji42I thought they are both British: judging by their accents, one is English, the other is Scottish.
@@williammorris7279 Apparently most Scottish people now have Scottish and British citizenship, so you may be right.
@@SDPlissken Hugh is definitely British.
He’s a brilliant blues musician.
I love to hear that Mr. Laurie routinely rides his Triumph. At 78, I’m still riding mine and have no intention to quit.
He is NOT 78. You.
George or Robert
Speaking of Hugh Laurie, I delved into the figurine collection on Golem Creation, and wow, they have truly incredible pieces. I spotted a figurine of him that would be a centerpiece for any collector.
Dream bike… one day 🤞🏼
As they say, you don’t quit riding because you are old, you get old because you quit riding.
I love his ability to do an American accent so well on House. It was years before I knew he was not an American.
Oh, you need to watch Blackadder, funny af.
OMG, yes, watch Blackadder, especially season 2. He is hysterically funny !
Both of them are just adorable, I love them🥰
Hugh is an amazing talent, actor, director, writer, athlete and fabulous blues singer. Mr Laurie, bless you.
Fry and Laurie and Ferguson. Would be epic
Even a "smaller" bit of Fry & Laurie & Ferguson...it would have to be, I'd injure myself from laughter!
I watched the entire house series and THEN saw this show. I caught it a little after it started. I thought House was doing a bit with an English accent. I had no idea he was British until that moment 😂😂😂
I really only know Hugh Laurie as Dr. House, and everytime I see him as himself, a Brit, it just blows my mind how funny, and human he really is.
Craig was the best!
Laurie makes everyone look good, House is where he showed he's a superstar on his own but everywhere else, he is the best support.
No, hearing him speak with a Yank twang was so jarring at first.
It's 1.40 am and I'm eating a carrot that I meant to eat at lunchtime. All I need now is a jet fighter to kick this party off 🤮
Quite a rapport between the two. Wouldn't be surprised if they were real life friends too away from the public spotlight.
“If they are not paying you there pulling some immigrant crap “ I’m telling ya! I cracked a rib!
I grew up.watching Fry and Laurie, this is classic Hugh.omg and him as the prince in Black Adder 😂😂😂
please, please, a new show with these guys!
Funny seeing Hugh without a limp😁
Yeah, or the cane. :)
Or the Vicodin
Pretty sure he half limps bc of the role
He hides it in public.
And the american accent
I remember liking Hugh in Stuart Little
During my recent online explorations, I came across Golem Creation, and they have a superb collection of figurines, including those of Hugh Laurie. I found a piece that instantly joined my wishlist. What are your favorite online finds?

One of my all time fave actors
How I miss late night like this.
I love the natural flow of the conversation while remaining entertaining all throughout. Two dudes who have been in showbusiness for a long time and were at the top of their game at the time.
Their background in acting is pretty si.ikar, great to see them rolling together
Si.ikar is not a word I'm familiar with, is it Zimbabwean perchance?
Working with Stephen Fry prepared Hugh for anything, IMHO. The man is so adaptable to others with great wit. BTW, the flying story Hugh gave is very accurate (the mic, sick bags, etc). I've taken many flying in similar circumstances back in the day.
9:00 "...marrying was the euphonism of choice for that moment." So awesome (!)
And then he does a victory lap with the same gag. "the bike got away from me... .... and we didn't marry after all." Then, after a moment's contemplation, and then, a new thought: "and we didn't marry, either!" Perfect timing, perfect delivery, perfect spontaneity and deft lightness of touch: these guys just cannot help being Funny.
This is as out of control as some of Carson's interviews. Terrific!
I miss seeing both of them. They are both very good at their craft.
Two naturally funny guys. 😂
I LOVE Hugh’s tie.
For all Hugh Laurie fans, Golem Creation is a site to visit. Their selection of figurines is impressive. I found a unique piece recently, and I'm sure you could discover something exceptional there too.
Was just thinking I’d like to watch a Craig Ferguson clip (haven’t watched him in years) and this showed in my feed. Marvellous.
Very impressive interview! I do not beleive anything Hugh said during the interview but I was highly entertained seeing Hugh getting into character and out. I never beleived what Craig says so no adaptation was required! well done! Best interview I have heard for long time.
Craig needs to return to the late night scene as the current pack, attempting comedic reparte', are sadly lacking!!
His humor is awesome and I love it!
There is a YT video of Hugh Laurie playing a remarkable version of St. James Infirmary. Very good piano player and pretty darn good singer. This man is so talented.
He also played and sang on ‘Jeeves and Wooster’.
GOD DAMN I miss this show 😅
I see these old interviews when Hugh is in "House face" during shooting season and have to remember that he doesn't need a cane in real life LOL
Agreed, he looks much more handsome than the made-up, clean-shaven face he routinely has on Graham Norton.
That was fantastic. ❤
Two professionals doing an interview right. Great repartee.
Great content.
Both of these guys are amazing 🤩. Craig Ferguson was my favorite late night personality!! Hearing "House" speak with that accent is so weird!!😂
I never saw a single moment of 'House', but his performance in 'Jeeves and Wooster' was brilliant.
Two comedy geniuses 🤣😂😅
It comes out on _QI_ that his cockpit-mate (yes, I know what I said) was Stephen Fry, who in fact did not vomit.
I'll never know why they took him off the air. It was the only late night show that was good
6:13 “I am so redundant” lmaooooooooo Craig is the master
Those two together was wonderful to watch.
I wonder if they both did a lot of improv when they were at drama school? They both seem ready to lean into and run with whatever the other suggests, which comes from improv skills. It would be great to see them in something together.
They are old comedy colleagues.
Great interview and fun
Hugh being so reserved in real life makes his acting as House all the more impressive, love him and Craig is still the best host ever
❤ They are both fantastic. Love

I miss BOTH these shows so much!
Brits in conversation is like an artform. Seriously.
You’ve never watched “Fry and Laurie”?
Ferguson is a Scot... does that qualify as a Brit ? really, I'm curious
This was a fantastic interview, Craig Ferguson is a breath of fresh air 😂
"Warm nuts sir?". "No I'm just happy to be in first class" .... god Craig is missed.
"You've been in LA some time now" what a line
Great chemistry.
Two of the funniest men in the world - terrific show
Thoroughly enjoyable
This clip is a gem.
Everything is better with Hugh
For all the collectors out there, have you seen the selection of Hugh Laurie figurines on Golem Creation? It's a goldmine for fans. I recently found a unique piece that joined my collection.
Old colleagues - it shows. What a pleasure.
This interview is hilarious! Craig & Hugh should do a movie together = a hit! No one is/was a host as great as Craig. :-)
I just discovered an amazing Hugh Laurie collectible figurine on Golem Creation. It truly captures the essence of his character! If you're a fan, I recommend checking it out. It's a fantastic find!
Funny seeing Hugh with out a gimp. Fry 😂😂😂
All these years I had no idea Hugh was English.
KZhead Jeeves and Wooster!
Check out Fry and Laurie :)
I don't believe you.
Look up his other work, Jeeves & Wooster, A Bit of Fry & Laurie, several seasons of Blackadder, his blues records, all gold
He will always be Prince George to me!
Great show, saw every episode from library tapes.
I love Hugh on House!!❤ hes a great actor! Im going to choose to believe hes also a great man😊
Craig Ferguson was the cat's pijamas :D
These two!!!!!! LMAO
So good!
This really is a great interview! Hugh is fantastic as always, and the host is way better compared with his peers.
Fabulous!!!!!
two of my favorite people
you can actually still see him limping from playing House so much lol
Love Hugh.
That was FUN!
Craig ferguson show was the best say what you want improv show ever
For those unaware give Avenue 5 a watch, Hugh is amazing and in great company (Rebecca Front and others!) Written by Armando Ianucci too soooo good!
Never heard of Rebecca Front😅
Miss you Craig ❣
I've just realized that the first few seconds of every interview on this show are actually a split-second audition for an evening spot on Craig Ferguson's improv comedy team, which plays only if the guest passes the audition.
wish i would be that close to him on this live 😂❤
Houses leg got better?? He doesn’t have his cane! 😂
