  • What Disney movie should absolutely not be given the "live-action" remake? *Watch the Honest Trailers Commentary on Wednesday at 10AM Pacific and see all the jokes and thoughts that didn't make it into the final video!* POOL RULES One: Speak up and join the conversation- we encourage respectful debate. Two: Respect your community- racism, misogyny, homophobia and hate speech aren’t tolerated. Three: Don’t go looking for fights. Four: “Be nice.” - Dalton from Roadhouse

      @TwentyPercentDash@TwentyPercentDash4 жыл бұрын
    • @@TwentyPercentDash you must not have seen the movie if you thought they even fought the bird. It made sense in what was happening. Jasmine grabbed the lamp and lept to he rug...out of Jafar's reach, even if he turned into a giant snake...they would be flying on a carpet AWAY from him at speed. He'd have toslither through buildings and alleyways to even attempt to follow them.....OR he could send IAGO, his abover average intelligent bird, who can fly...use his magic tomake him larger andmore powerful...talons that could rip apart the carpet and the people on it as they tried to get away. A batle with the snake would make you HAVE to focus on the snake, as the fight would be close. With the bird it was a suspenseful chase scene...suspenseful enough at least...and you didn't really have otfocus on the cginess of it. It fit well enough.

Live Action Aladdin can never replace or come close to how amazing the original Animated Aladdin was, but this was a really good attempt at trying to do something different with the story while still capturing the heart central to the original. It's not the best movie ever, but it is a solid and entertaining movie with some great songs and a nice actually slightly different spin on the original and I think the Honest Trailer really got that across well.

  • Hi, I'm a person who, as a kid, was raised on the Disney classics. I love them all. With that said, I have yet to see a remake I don't like. I don't have a massive nostalgia complex like so many people do. I used to when I was younger, but I later realized that the classics don't get "destroyed" simply because a remake was made. They're still there, untouched. If you don't like a remake, fine, but using the excuse "I hate it, because I love the original and the movie is just a cash grab" is petty. With that mindset, you're already setting yourself up for disappointment. If you go into these with the notion that they're separate entities from their original counterparts, it'll be easier to judge them on their own merit, not the merit of their predecessors. That being said, the Aladdin remake is my favorite of the remakes, alongside Beauty and the Beast. They made some great changes that really helped the movie, as a whole, make more sense than the original. The original was great, but very flawed. There were lots of holes and contrivances, not to mention a huge lack of motivation from the villain. Jafar was a fun and colorful villain in the original, but never had much of a character other than "hi, I'm evil, and I do bad stuff for the sake of being bad".

If it's bad, I won't watch it again and won't bring it up unless it comes up in conversation. To me, you can't disrespect something that can't take offense, like movies. It's just entertainment. I will say, though, that since making that comment, I've found two retellings that I don't like. Dumbo and Mulan. Both had potential under the right circumstances, but too many wrong choices were made. They definitely don't disrespect the originals, since they have nothing to do with them in the slightest, other than the title. Also, let's be honest, the original Dumbo has far too many issues.
