This Has to be One of the BEST F35 Passes in the Mach Loop
For Me This Has to be One of the BEST F35 Passes in the Mach Loop, that I've experienced in person, These 5th generation fighter jets are so agile, they certainly get about the place a lot easier than a F15.
I'd be interested in your opinion of the F35 passes, would be great to here what you all think of it.

Hi everyone, Not sure if any of you are interested but I've put some images on Shopify if anyone would like to check them out. I've put a link below to my Shopify page. It doesn't always for some reason display my new listed items on the site, so best thing for you to do would be click on catalogue and sort by new to old listings, this will bring up my newest listings. I'm not sure about the price on the canvas and other framed images, maybe one day I'll be able to afford my own professional printer and maybe be able to offer the photos at a lower price. These canvas and framed images are aimed at the US market, as the shipping cost to the UK would be way way to expensive. darren-edwards-aviation.myshopify.com/products/fluffy-f-15e-strike-eagle-matte-canvas-stretched-0-75?variant=48060420620600
My nephew joined the Airforce a year-and-a-half ago, now he's doing maintenance on these birds. I'm quite proud of him
Awesome, amazing job to have.
As you should be tell him I said thanks for his service
Good for him. I guarantee you, when he gets home you will be proud to have him work free as your new car mechanic 😮 👀🚗💥💨
Your nephew is the GOAT bro! Glad he’s on our side and I’m proud of him too!
Good on him. Let him know that folk appreciate what he does...
In the early days of the U.K. receiving the F-35 I witnessed four flying parallel over our house in South Wales, the sight and noise of these four aircraft is something I'll never forget.
Super cool.
I love to see the mach looop in action. I taught in a school in the west desert of Utah where these F 35's practice a lot. Our school is very isolated with eleven students and the F 35 pilots often dive down on the school practicing bombing runs. It's amazing to see their noses pointed straight at you coming straight down on the school. Practicing or having a little fun giving us a show way out in the isolation of the desert makes an exciting day.
Awesome place to be, maybe there is air base not for from the school.
Dude i worked near buckley afb before it became a space force base homeowners where like ughhh does this happen alot when walking homes and i always thought as i was foing the baseboard what kind of boring ass person complains about getting to see the coolest technologies we have in action i loved working there forsure seeing f22s all day seen one do a straight verticle stall once then launch upwards like a rocket seeing that thing go from over 1000mph to almost a flat stop nose up then imediatly back to 1000 mph but upwards has stuck with me as one of if not the most impressive things ive ever seen
Reminds me of a story my dad told me one time: It was about 5 years ago, and he was at an nfl game in Boston. It was halftime, and for whatever reason, everyone was cheering and going crazy, even though there was no performers/anyone doing anything on the field. My dad was pretty confused, and all of the sudden there was a massive object overhead that blocked out the sun. He thought he was going to die, it didn't even look like it was from earth, just a massive black, silent object coming to rain death on those below. turns out, a it was a b2 stealth bomber doing a fly over.
@@DarrenEdwardsAviation Hill AFB
Thank you, I'll have a look at it online.
i have always liked the F-35 because of it's looks, it's kind of like a baby Raptor, but now i not only see a beautifully crafted piece of military hardware - i see surely the most technically advanced fighter jet ever built and even today we are still learning of it's capabilities. Awesome video
Thank you for watching the video, epic aircraft.
Its capabilities will not be fully understood until the design is declassified. Not likely in our lifetime. Keep in mind...this plane was flying in like 2006. It's a 20 year air frame already. There's a reason we didn't build a lot of them. Our technological capabilities then vs. now are just...incomparable.
my thoughts exactly. trough the years and the better and better quality of photos i've come to understand what an incredible piece of engineering the F35 is. I've always been a fan because i understood it's bigger picture concept but the more details we get from it ..the more astounding it becomes. The metallurgy in this machine ...just speechless
Yeah It's a piece of art.
The F-35 capabilities will continue to expand over decades to come. Because it is the NATO fighter of choice investment is directly motivated by the needs of the NATO member states. It may look the same in decades to come but it will have been reinvented several times over.
The F-35 is a work of art, thank you for capturing it so well!
Glad you enjoyed it!
At first, I didn't like the looks of F 35. Now with it's sharp edges, it looks as stunning as a Lamborghini.
Yeah it does look stunning.
Had 5 of these pass by me a couple months back all in formation and flying low and slow along the norfolk coast, what a sight
Awesome sight I bet.
This footage and these photos are amazing. Definitely the best representation I've seen of the F35 anywhere. That lead plane pilot is a madman, too. I love it.
Thank you so much. I'd certainly say he/she is an highly skilled pilot.
Really outstanding work Mr. Photographer!
Thanks so much, for saying that.

Great video Darren…Thanks!!👍🏻🇨🇦🇺🇸
😊👍🤗😁👌👀👀😎✌️✈️✈️✈️✈️
Brilliant footage 👍👍 would love to see this In person one day.
I love how the high wingloading creates the amazing wingtip vortices. This jet definitely is very nimble, fast, and maneuverable. I believe it has a published speed of 1.6 Mach but I’m sure it’s capable of much higher speeds if needed. It would just damage the stealth coatings. What’s great though is the amount of thrust this jet has. I’ve always loved the F-16 but this fighter is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine. Great video footage. I’d love the opportunity to see this in person someday. I had the opportunity to watch the F-35B a few years back and was completely blown away by the performance.
Thank you. Yes it's definitely growing on too.
Mach 1.6 is the top speed. speed limit is a result of power available and airframe drag. 1.6 is pretty good for single engine top speed when you consider the twin engine variants of jets tend to top out at Mach 2.4 . I think the F 16 is similar in speed limits. Look what the blackbird needed for propulsion to get to Mach 3.5 The power required is exponential so twice the speed requires almost 4 times the power. The "stealth coating" isn't affected by speed, it's just paint and only really affected by temperature, which this jet can not go fast enough to worry about burning the paint off. The majority of the low radar cross section stuff being the material the jet is constructed of, carbon composites etc and the canopy is mirror tinted for similar anti radar properties.
As somebody who used to drive up to North Wales, and back, on the road running up the side of the valley I'm hugely impressed by their skill.
Yes that's for sure.
Had a tornado fly right over me from behind when i was riding my shitty 125 bike along that road once, scared the shit of me.
Tornado was and still is an awesome aircraft, only managed to see a few of them through the Mach Loop before they were retired by the RAF.
Imagine what some traveling medieval knights would think if they saw these flying overhead.
Think they'd be impressed.

Breathtaking - just like being there. Thanks so much to all who are prepared to share their incredible photographic skills.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks...
This indeed is excellent videography and still shots. The one still shot of the plane in a 60 degree climb with the contrails pouring off it’s wings Is absolutely awesome. THANKS !
Thank you so much.
Very nice Darren 👍👌 those lifts out of Cad were just 👌 fantastic footage and pictures. Nice and low passes over the Cad West ridge 👍 looks like the pilots are now getting better acquainted with the F35a and Loop. Thank you for being there and sharing 👍👏👏✈️🏴🇺🇲
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Andy, i know I certainly did. And to think I was only there because I had bad left knee/leg, so I didn't think I could walk up to Bwlch or Exit.
@@DarrenEdwardsAviation it was certainly your day and you knee played up for a reason 👍😁 I'll be watching it again later on the big screen to get the full effects 👍 I'm seriously thinking about getting my tent ready for my next trip 🙄🏴
Thanks Andy. Maybe fate brought everything together that day, for me to create the video.
I’m not only impressed by the jets but also the footage and pictures. Thanks for sharing them.
Glad you enjoyed it
Even more impressed by the pilot.
That's for sure.
Stunning ....thank you so much for posting ...we're coming to Wales this summer... hoping to see some planes on the mach loop !
Thank you so much. If you do go up there, just admire the stunning location, if an aircraft goes through that's a bonus.
Wow! That's incredible to watch, showing incredible manoeuvrability and low-level flying, I can't imagine how awesome it must have been to be there
Thank you very much, very nimble aircraft.
@@DarrenEdwardsAviation where is this please? I take it they don’t fly every day?
I was a wind turbine worker in Tehachapi, CA in 1987 to 89; used to see fighters come in low under where me and my buddies were up on top of 200 foot turbines on top of the mountains doing our work; it was pretty awesome to hear them like this; I think they were flying out of Edwards AFB. Great video!
Thanks, wow, I bet that was awesome.
@@DarrenEdwardsAviation Yes sir, it was awesome and a bit scary; as we could not hear or see them coming until they passed below us!
Wow
If they were flying that low, they were most likely Navy or Marine Corps jets out of China Lake. I worked in Boron and Ridgecrest for the Sheriff's Office for many years, and the flying style between the two services was much different, at least in the 70's and 80's when I was there. The Air Force pilots took off from Edwards at the prescribed angle, flew the prescribed distance off the end of the runway and then made the prescribed turn off the base. At China Lake NWC, the Navy and Marine Corps pilots would do a barrel roll off the end of the runway and then stand the jet on it's tail and go vertical. When patrolling the desert dirt roads, the Navy and Marine Corps pilots would sometimes try to "sneak up" on my patrol vehicle at sagebrush level. If I spotted them first and turned on my red lights, some would waggle their wings and turn on their landing lights to acknowledge being spotted. I saw some amazing skill at high speed in the desert......
Wow awesome.
Just superb, I cannot find words, lovely videos, and photos, just amazing what these birds are capable. Thank you
Thank you so much for the kind words,
These pilots have wake up everyday with a big smile on their faces knowing what they get to do.
Yeah permeant smile.
My entire body just chilled. Wow! Just wow!! Thank you.
Awesome, thank you.
Great footage Darren, and absolutely amazing stills - top, top quality photography. What great looking aircraft they are.
Thank you so much.
Amazing how the stealth surface makes these aircraft seem like they spontaneously appear out of nowhere. Well captured. 👍
Thank you, I know I was struggling to see them for a bit when they were heading towards the valley.
Their engines also sound totally different to conventional jets.
Absolutely fantastic videography and stunning stills you took! Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you so much, thanks for watching the video.
From spitfires to those f35s they just make the hairs on my body stand up absolutely amazing 👍👍👍👍🇬🇧
They were American 🇺🇲
🇺🇲
Awesome, just awesome, crystal clear photos too! Unreal!!! Very talented, lots of good planning and these aren't accidental captures, top job!
Thank you so much.
Ive been wanting to go to the loop for years but just dont know enough about it. Fighter jets are the coolest thing man has ever created. Awesome work. 😎
I'll you search Mach Loop online, I'm sure you'll find some information on there about it.
@@DarrenEdwardsAviation I’m going to try and get there this summer with my son. We’re over near warrington so not to far away. Keep up the good work mate your photos and videos are awesome.
Be prepared to sit around for a long time waiting for something to happen. Also wrap up warm, can be cold on the hills.
Some cracking passes 👌🏼 lovely video and photos too! Yet to witness one through the loop but eagerly anticipating the day 🤞🏼
Thank you so much, hopefully when you visit there you manage to see something go through.
@@DarrenEdwardsAviation I’ve done a few visits already but only seen the Hawks and Texans. No luck with anything American so far.
Fingers crossed you manage to see some going through there.
Brilliant mate thanks for your video and stills from across the pond. I'm now in my 20th year in USAF reserves now and this footage was breath taking.
Awesome, thank you so much.
Sound of Freedom. I like the sound of F35's in the morning. Sounds like... Victory.
This jet flies incredibly graciously and lends itself for amazing photography. Darren, very nice stills!!!!!!.
Yes it does, thank you so much.
Great comment, Victor.
Ironically, F-35 pilots have nicknamed the Lightning II "Fat Amy" because it handles more like a SUV than a sports car. Being that it wasn't designed to be a dogfighter like the Raptor means its not quite as twitchy and nimble, but it is a beautiful multipurpose fighter.
The F35 is ugly on the ground and absolutely beautiful in the air.
@@tscott6843 honestly, it looks really cool even on the ground. Its one of the coolest looking planes there are
I agree with you, a stupendous shot, don't think I've seen jets traversing the loop as fast before? Definitely not hanging around!
Thank you so much, very manoeuvrable aircraft.
Fantastic footage of fantastic flying! Amazing stills, too. Thanks a lot for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the great feedback, pilots are amazing.
I love the "howling" sound it makes! Absolutely epic!!!
Thank you. Yeah, music to my ears.

Thank you so much. The countryside they are flying through is a low fly structure in the UK, in Wales, not England.
Superb. That first pass reminded me of a certain famous Tiffie pass. Some great stills too.
Thank you so much. From the position I'm on on the hill, it makes the aircraft look lower than it is.
Brilliant and fantastic audio. thank you.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
That was awesome! Superb close-up photos with the pilots too - Well done!
Thanks a lot!
If you’re watching this one without earbuds in…..you’re missing 70% of the experience!
I'll have to try it with them, just watch your ear drums.
Absolutely, I'm wearing mine. Wish I could hear that live sometime. What beautiful machines & the true sound of what power is
I have to hear them everyday because I live in RAF Lakenheath 😂👍 they can get annoying sometimes haha
The sound of FREEDOM!
Absolutely right.... Watching with Earphone.. 😍😍😍 What an experience
Great footage! It seems like some of those aircraft are passing crazy close to the hills.
Thanks, from the vantage point I'm, it makes them look closer than they actually are.
Great Video, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Great photos. Hat's off the photographer, the pilots and maintenance who keep them flying.
Many thanks!
What great video, and stunning still images! Love this presentation of an amazing airplane!
Thank you so much.
Quite an unusual sound not what I expected really, thought they might be more boomy but it was more like ripping the air apart as passed. Very cool footage.
Thank you so much.
I saw one of these leaving an air show last summer. A lone F-35 made quite a slow pass over the town in the morning and it just sounded like the air got ripped apart. I saw a Typhoon, a Gripen and a legacy Hornet during the show and none of them compare to the sound of an F-35. Sadly the F-35s weren't scheduled to fly at all during the show but at least I got to see a glimpse of one.
I'm not sure either emgee, but we don't know the exact speed of these planes, we don't know if they're going 690mph, or 800mph. At sea level, at benchmark barometric pressure, the speed is 741mph, some sources say 750+ mph, I think speed of sound is about 760. There is also a 'conical' vector whereby the sound is continuous, but not heard or directed everywhere, just where the geometry dictates.
F-18s sound like that too, when very close and traveling very close to the speed of sound. Awesome.
A trip to the States to watch an airshow could be on the cards this year, if I'm lucky.
Superb. Thanks for posting. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it
it is truly mind blowing how you can't see or hear them until they're on top of you. at least from the cams
I struggled to see them for a good while through the viewfinder.
Great vid, and stills! Something I’ve wondered for a while, are the farmers/landholders compensated at all for noise etc? The F-35 is far and away the loudest thing I’ve ever heard! It was awe inspiring.
Thank you so much. I wouldn't have thought so, but who knows.
Not too many places in the world where you can stand on the ground and look DOWN on fighter jets. So awesome
Thank you. Yeah, it's a weird but awesome experience.
Thank you so much for sharing. Awesome camera work. 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Stunning photos, thank you.
Many thanks!
Superb capture, video and those stills. Also the “Approaching Howl” made by the F35s reminds me of the F111s, or maybe it’s just me…thanks for posting
Thank you so much, I've never heard the sound of a F111 in person so I couldn't really compare them.
The F-111’s were something else! I miss seeing them. The F-35 II’s have an absolutely massive engine though. I think it’s the most powerful single engine in a jet fighter. …I think.
Awesome.
Another amazing video, and your stills of this gorgeous beast area awesome!!!!
Thank you so much.
Spectacular footage. Slicing through the air with that searing sound....
Thank you, and thanks for watching the video.

Magnificent machines 👍🏻 Must be one of the most awesome jobs in the world to fly a jet fighter
Couldn't agree more!
Met a lot of rich Naval Aviators who joined the Navy because all of dad's money couldn't buy them a fighter jet, carrier and support crew :)
I bet yeah.
if not the best job in the world, not only because of the machine - but those moments when you get asked "what do you do for a living"
Yeah definitely.
My first time getting a look at the F35 looking as cool as the F22. Incredible footage =)
