Welcome back to Aurora Tech Channel. Last week, I reviewed the Ender-3 S1 Pro, and many of you suggested that I make a comparison between the Ender-3 S1 Pro and the Prusa MK3S+. Like many people have said, the Prusa MK3S+ is the gold standard for hobbyist 3D printers. It uses many brand-name parts, the print quality is really good, the print speed is relatively fast, and it uses the Prusa slicer tailormade for Prusa Printers. It provides a full package for 3D printing. Last year, I made a video comparing the Prusa MK3S+ with the basic Ender-3 pointing out the differences based on the hardware cost. If you are interested in seeing that video, I put a link down below.
When people ask me if they should buy the Prusa MK3S+ or the new Ender 3 S1 Pro, there is no simple answer. It all depends on your budget, what you are looking for, and what is important to you.

If you can make such high quality videos at your age, I wonder what the future will bring. Absolutely amazing!
Probably one of the best comparison videos I’ve seen on KZhead in over 12 years of consuming content. Well done you two. Thanks for the density of information and lack of sensationalism. Subbed.
Totally agree! New Benchmark!
i too like the lack of sensationalism. she talks like a non-emotional truth teller, fact reader.
Finally a channel that acually does the vidoes we all want to see, great!
One huge point that was missed here is print volume which clearly goes to the ender.
ender also has an optional laser module
This was an extremely well thought out, and executed video! You clearly have a lot of experience and knowledge regarding every aspect of 3d printers and I’m here for it! I’m looking to get my very first 3d printer, and after going down the rabbit hole of options, I’ve landed on your video that I believe has swayed me to the S1 Pro. This is the first video I’ve seen on your channel but I promise it won’t be the last. Thank you very much for taking your time putting this together!
This is a great video! Thank you for your thorough work. I have the Prusa fully assembled and it's awesome! I have not worked with the Ender but I enjoyed learning about it in your video. I look forward to learning more from you!
Great to see you cevered every single detail!!
I love the detail you put into your videos!
You should consider turning on the 7x7 autoleveling on the Prusa in the settings menu. It’s even more accurate and still fast.
Thank you for this video. I was holding off on the MK3S+ until Black Friday 2022 but then saw the S1 Pro which caught my eye. After watching this, I think I'll continue to wait until November.
Actually excellent comparison and reviews. Rivaling established 3d-printing creators like Salanderer and 3dpnerd. Exceptional work!
Yeah but a $500 printer compared to an $1,100 printer is a little bit not fair. Plus I don't see how somebody could give more points for 3D printing Parts over injected molded parts. That's just insanity
@@Savage1776_ Ease of replacement. Very easy to print a replacement for a lot of people if a part gets damaged, injection molded you would have to source somehow. Assuming they both have the same functionality.
@@Savage1776_ i literally searched "ender 3 vs prusa" so yeah, it was a good comparison. for a few hundred more you can save yourself a lot of headaches and get better prints.
alos, they gave the ender more points for aesthetics but i don't care if it had 3d printed parts. it's kinda cool IMO
Such a well thought out review. Exactly the information I was looking for. Thank you!
Thank you. This must be one of the best comparison videos I have seen. It was tremendously helpful. Well done.😊
One of the best comparison videos I've ever seen!
Have seen several of your videos now and they are truly brilliant and helpful. Thanks!
The only thing I would add about the prusia kit is that putting it together is really educational in figuring out how these things work. [and its very well documented]
Putting my MK3S together was a lot of fun and educational. If you're a parent looking for a project to do with your child, the Prusa kits are amazing.
That was a fantastic, in-depth, review of both printers. Very well done. New sub.
I have the Prusa MK3S+ kit version and it's been performing flawlessly for over a year. I got the Prusa mainly because the company I worked for had 8 of them which were used to make precision medical device parts. I saw these printers running everyday in an industrial setting and they were clearly durable. Another thing to mention is that if you order the week after Black Friday Prusa usually has free shipping.
extremely thorough and knowledgeable review! i've never been to your channel, so was surprised to see someone so young doing the video. you are obviously very intelligent and skilled. nice work!
That 3 out of 5 for the Doc/Support was very generous, Creality has a long way to go still. Another solid video, looking forward to the next one.
I could see points swinging in either direction on a few of those categories. Personally I see these printers being much closer in value than than the point system outcome.
Just checked to see if the situation was the same but it looks like they have taken the advise on-board and re-vamped the doc/sup section.
Why would you pay 60% more for product support? Surly at 60% for a Prusa you'd expect to not need any support services?
@@shrimperlincs3395 For my Ender 3 I spent several days trying to find compatible firmware for my oddball motherboard to get Marlin linear advance support, before finally switching to Klipper firmware on a Raspberry Pi (extra $100 or so) to gain that functionality. If you value your time, it may be worth buying a better product upfront.
Thanks for another great video. Your content is jam packed with useful info. I've been wondering how these two stack up for a while.
Your test and analysis is correct and well made, thanks from an Ender 3 S1 pro owner.
Outstanding and in depth video! Very educational and thank you for the comparison!
I originally bout and ender type printer from Amazon about 5 years ago. After a couple misprints, a clogged nozzle and the headache of having to level the bed with springs, I returned it and got a Prusa MK3S kit. Assembling the printer wasn't difficult and was a really fun project in itself. The printer is amazing. Hassle free printing at it's best, just hit start. Prusa is a prime example that you get what you pay for.
You are a rockstar. Thanks for an amazing review
Thank you for this excellent comparison. Very much appreciate your opinion on these two options.
Great example of how to compare products for my design students. Thorough examples and prioritisation and granularity of the scoring system.
Excellent video and great job on how you compared them. 👍
Exactly what I needed! Thanx!
I had a question on my mind. You provided an excellent answer! Excellent work - Subscribed.
11/10 for effort in this video, great work guys!
Great review! Appreciate the insight and thought you put into your system.
Amazing and well executed review! Your scoring standards are on par with my prefrances. Next machine for me will be a Prusa but willl still love my Ender 5.
Excellent review, factual and down to earth. I've subscribed
If I would want someone to compare something for me, I would ask you and Helios. This comparison is Fan-Tas-Tic and reflects my experience in practise. You did research very well, made a great video and give great advice. You did grow to nearly 15000 subscribers for very good reason. Keep it up, mate.
Excellent information, thank you for your hardwork!!! 👍
The S1 Pro is a beast ... can't wait to get mine
Millwright work building the thing is the best part. Getting it to work after problems is the real battle even if you didn’t put it together yourself. Great review/comparison. Thank you.
ok, i'm getting the prusa. thanks for helping me move to the buying phase!
Another outstanding vid…subbed!
Thanks for all the great videos!
Great video as always 👍 Thanks for sharing your experience with all of us 👍😀
This is one of the most comprehensive and easy to consume review that I've seen of these two printers. Thank you for the information and presentation.
Yo just sayin great job on the assembly video it really helped me out. When I bought this "kit" I had absolutely no idea what I was getting into it took me about 20 hours in total to put this machine together I got perpendicular though, again thanks for the video!
Hi. Thank you. I'm a golden oldie and considering using 3D printing in other hobbies. Very helpful, well thought out and nicely presented review. For me good documentation is crucial but that's my take on it without your knowledge, skill and experience. Prusa have just released the Mk4 as I write (late March 23)
Great, I was looking for such a comparison! thnx
Excellent comparison. True Talent!
Well done and I agree with your comparison charts. It’s for hobbyist!
Very good comparison, thank you!
Wow wow wow!!! This comparison video blows me away!! In design engineering we sometimes resort to using a weighted concept selection matrix (or weighted comparison matrix) to provide a form of quantitative insight when trying to compare among various design/concept options. This is exactly what you have done and done extremely well! I completely agree with your selected criteria, the weight you assigned to each criteria, the scoring you assigned AND the justifications for assigning such scores! Excellent and thank you!
No, she didn't. She made a cardinal mistake. Prusa self-assembled version is more than 2x the price of ender s1 pro. Meanwhile she scored 15 vs 10. This ruins the whole comparison. You can get 2 ender s1 pro for the price of 1 prusa.
Also another factor to consider is the Ender 3 S1 has a build volume of 230 x 230 x 270 while the Prusa build volume is 210 x 210 x 250.
Nope, Prusa has from first public version 25 wide, 21 long and 23cm height.
Probably doesn't matter much for small prints, but if one prints bigger stuff all the time or tons of small things at once, the little bit of extra room is probably highly useful more than one realizes.
This is worth pointing out. At the same time, smaller footprint might be preferred for some. (Though if I were investing in a first printer, I'd rather err on the side of too large and make room.)
A friend has asked for advice on his 1st 3D Printer purchase, I just send him your video Link, You have done a beautiful job and I truly enjoy your presentation. Take Care guys. Dennis
Amazing comparison between those 2 printers, with a well structured scroring system. I think is a dilemma of a lot of us to choose our next printer Although price and assembly is an upfront cost/work you need to do and all the others will be our daily routine, if you remove them out of 100 the score will 66.25 for Ender and 85 for Prusa that make the difference even bigger
Outstanding video, you guys are just great, and a treat to watch. Smart and entertaining in a educational way. I want the Sprite Extruder on my 10S Pro what do think is that feasible? I want to print the Eiffel tower for my wife. Great test part. Thank You so much for all your time and effort in this review. Very well done. Well thought out, technically sound and professionally presented. Thank You, Dennis in Virginia
Excellent comparison, Aurora! And good timing. I think these two printers are _THE_ two best for consumers to choose from under the $1000 mark.
I think, there is at least one more: Mingda Magician X.
I love your direct to the point videos. You don't waste time re-hashing low value details and get right to the nitty gritty. I was very excited to get a Prusa Mini+ last year. I even ordered it at the beginning of November instead of waiting for black friday since the delivery was stated as beginning of December. I thought I could tinker with it during Christmas break. Well, Prusa failed me and kept pushing out the shipping date so I cancelled and looked for another option. I purchased a Kingroon KP3S and so far love it. It cost less than half of the Prusa and comes with linear rails and direct drive. I haven't pushed it with TPU, PETG and ABS which is why I wanted the Prusa, but so far it has worked great. Is the Kingroon kind of a black horse? I love my Ender 3 but recognize its limitations. From what I had read, the Prusa was the logical upgrade path. I didn't come across the Kingroon until I was looking for an alternative.
Correction: dark horse, LOL
Amazing video! Would love to see a comparison of a prusa mini against other smaller printers 👋😁👍
Great comparison, thank you.
Love your reviews so detailed! What do you think of the CR-10 Smart Pro? I'm looking to get my first 3D Printer, was gonna get the S1 Pro, but the larger bed size of the CR-10 Smart Pro makes me think twice...
That was a very good overview of these two printers and the scoring seemed reasonable and very fair for the testing. Even though the Prusa came out on top in many areas, I still like the added features on the Ender 3 S1 Pro, like the light bar and the fact that the replacement parts are much easier on the wallet between the two.
Excellent review, Thank you nice job👍👍👍
Another awesome video 👍
Very helpful, thank you.
This was an awesome review on the two. I’m getting into 3d printing as something to do as a hobby. I’m a full time welder and work with cad and build prints but never got into the design side. I’m looking at the s1 pro as my first printer for the simple fact that I can 3d print and also for just a little extra install a laser and also do some engraving. So this is actually a 3d printer and a cnc engraver all in one.
Their add-on laser is pathetic. Only 1.6 watts! You can't engrave much with such a weak laser.
@@tralfazy There's a 5w one too :)
Good job on clear mindset & data 14 Prusa owner pass by 😁
Great info, Subscribed ‼️
This was an amazing video to watch. This young girl appears more mature than she looks. She gave a great presentation and was very helpful in helping me narrow it down to a 3d printer I was thinking of getting.
Great work as always but build volume is something you may want to include into the calculations.
Great comparison. Just a question on the prusa.... With the "angled" extruder, does this eliminate the need for supports on most parts with overhangs? Thanks!
Another great review. This is what I would call a high quality engineering evaluation. Keep up the great work. Another consideration is repair/replacement parts. I have an S1 but it has been down for 2 months due a failed print that encased the heater block in solid plastic. It was good while it lasted (1 spool) but I can't get a replacement extruder. Don't trust the auto bed leveler... check it manually when you set it up. I ordered one a month ago but the order was cancelled after 3 weeks with no explanation... or refund yet. The extruder comes and goes on the web site as a spare part. It seems as though they're having trouble with inventory. Be aware that the S1 is new so parts will be VERY hard to get... or non-existent. Also, the heater cartridge doesn't appear to be the same as the standard Ender 3 so who knows when "sub-components" will be available. For now, the only option I can find (which is inaccessible) is an entire extruder assembly at over $100.00. Yikes! I bought an LK5 Pro to replace it while I wait and.....now I'm in no hurry to get the S1 fixed. The LK5 Pro is a fantastic printer at a bargain (IMO). Aurora did a review on it too recently.
I had the same filament issue on a Vyper. I had to melt the filament off with a heat gun and print a new cover (which melted). I might add that I am in Australia and Creality never sends the parts they promise.
what a great review... very honest...
What about the print volume and possibly of upgrades? I think your rating match what I would give for both printers. The prusia also comes with additional features such as auto test systems. I think it is still the state of the art for hobbyist. Keep up the great work 😃
The problem I have is having to wait nearly two to three weeks possibly to even get one.
@@alonzogonzalez4272 That's all you waited? My MK3S+ took 5 weeks, but considering they test everything before shipping I considered it a win. Prusa is getting bigger, but they take the time of a small mom and pop.
This is an excellent scoring system! I think all KZheadrs should adopt this system.
Excellent review... Wow! I'm coming from an Ender 3 S1 Plus that just kept throwing the infamus AB.temp error. After a LOT of troubleshooting, getting terible support from Creality, and watching a LOT of video like this one, I just sent it back and bought the MK3S+. Putting it together is cool and I like knowing how everything works anyway. The Ender was pretty good when it was working for the record. But I found myself cranking up the quality as I got better at the models and wanted higher quality tools and usful gadgets. So, it just makes sense to have a better printer.
Good stuff. I would put price as a bigger factor or a multiplier, but as you said "each person has their own expectations."
Great vid big thanks
Great Video, Thank You
The Prusa MK3S was my introduction to 3D printing. I was going to go with Creality, but a few of my friends mentioned that with upgrades they would run the same price. I could not be happier. The 8hr build helped with understanding how the printer worked and troubleshooting when things broke. Now I'm just waiting fir the XL to come out and upgrade to that.
Even with upgrades creality s1 pro still cost about half of Prusa. But Prusa uses higher quality hardware.
Not really. You can get Prusa quality with a fully upgraded Ender 3 and still much less than the Prusa.
thanks, helped me pick a 3d printer.
Excelent video content!
Hm but on your pictures the "X" on the cube looks much worse on the Prusa (the interior of the X I mean)
Fair comparison. Other consideration today is option to upgrade the S1 Pro with the Sonic Pad. Likely a shift in terms of usability and speed. You get Klipper firmware, a host of other great added features, and by all accounts run 2-3 times faster without loss of quality for an upgrade price (~$150) that still keeps the S1 Pro way less than the Prusa.
(And saw your other video about the Sonic Pad, too. It's why I mention it for others here. 😊 I think I'm leaning toward S1 Pro plus Sonic Pad now!)
considering how she got the same score for the same item but in kit vs. completed even with the sonic pad I bet she would have scored it the same.
Nice review.
Great and very detailed video, 2 side notes: giving the prusa point, for the psu being more expensive, and giving the ender more points for glbeing cheaper is no consistent i think Sry if i missed, but i think you forgot mentioning the build volume, the weight of the printers(portability), and the size/max print volume ratio (+1 the new flat tubes of the ender leaves less opportunity to modifiy it. Its a big drawback for me comparised to the outlook.) Pls keep up the good work, thank you for the video, u gained a sub by me
I have the MK3s+, it is my first printer and I bought it as a kit. I enjoyed building it and I've found that with minimal tweaking it is a very accurate and capable printer to make usable mechanical parts. I've added a 7" touchscreen with Octopi as well as a camera and that made a great printer even better. You have a good channel and I wish I had a room full of printers like you do. lol
How does the touch screen interface with the MK3+? Are you able to adjust the printer settings?
@@garythecyclingnerd6219 The touch screen is really cool, you can adjust positioning, speed, bed temp, nozzle temp. You can re-run programs that you uploaded to the octopi. You can watch the progress on your PC while it's printing (with a camera). You can record timelapses of the build. There are a bunch of plugins for other stuff too. If I got any other printers I'd put one of these on every one.
Great show.
Great details that you just don't see on other videos such as the firmware filenames mess. That can be a big deal - I remember to be lost, then gave up and went for Klipper.
awesome review, and extemely well presented, such a good voice for a young lady !! A++
Great Video!
Prusas Kit Assembly should get 1 point max, there can't be more work involved in building a printer besides building one based on your own idea and salvaging each part separately 🙈 10h assembly... that's more like a puzzle for nerds than a printer 😅
Great comparison. The only thing that kills me about the Prusa is the screen controls. It really is way past time to upgrade to a color touchscreen.
I've used both, and honestly the Prusa is faster once you get familiar with it.
i hate the touch screen and i have the s1 plus amd the mk3
I like all the upgrades in the S1 Pro. I've seen mixed reviews for Ender 3 linear rail upgrades, most people don't seem to think it's that useful. It would be a nice thing to have though I guess. Replacing rollers is a pain. Creality's awful firmware, support, and documentation is a real problem though. For my Ender 3 I eventually switched to Klipper firmware and it's been a big improvement.
Good use of the term watt hour. For anyone interested, a physicist would use the term joule for a unit of energy, and would express the flow of energy or work as joules per second. So what is a watt? Well electrical engineers came along and decided that an energy flow of one joule per second is equal to one watt. Then, in kind of a convoluted fashion, defined a new unit of energy watt hour as how much energy would flow in one hour at a rate of one watt. Thus a watt hour is simply 3600 joule. Great video --- thank you.
Thanks for telling me how to correctly use these terms in the WizMaker video :)
Explained well
How loud are they? Thank you for the awesome video!
How is this tiny little sweet girl so informative! Thanks so much ! Subscribed! :)
just one thing i noticed: the calibration cube in the prusa have some bed adhesion problem, the corners are bent upwards
Well done review. You should take a look at the mini also which is 350 and you only lose a small amount of print volume.
Very well reviewed. Many thanks to this, cause I requested something like this at the first review of the S1pro. Of course I would the points do a little different… for example the price 500 to 1250 means, you would get 2.5:1 printers … but in the end the comparison gives a very good feeling for both printers.
I agree with most of the ratings, but with my personal experience l think the v-slot wheels are a little better than the linear rods. You guys are doing a great job.
Interesting , why is this if you don’t mind me asking ?
I have to disagree on that one. I'm frequently adjusting the wheels on my ender. For my MK3, the linear rods are fantastic. Just a little silicone grease occationally
