Cessna Citation C525 CJ Jet Review with Garmin Avionics
Cessna Citation C525 CJ with Garmin Avionics
Today we are flying a straight CJ. Citation Jet or Cessna 525 is further development of the proven design, the Citation 500 which brought the cost of owning a jet under control. The plane in video is 1993 single pilot jet with a nice upgrade inside. It features most modern Garmin touch screen avionics which brings it well into the twenty first century. It has been upgraded with G600txi, GI-275 and GTN750. All the screens in the cockpit are touch screens, they all talk to each other, including your iPad. GFC600 digital autopilot provides full envelope protection in a 30 year old airplane. New avionics combined with proven simple to maintain and easy to fly Citation technology breathes new life into a straight CJ making it an even safer airplane. It’s almost like having a co-pilot.
Let’s make flying fun again. I’ll demonstrate how easy it is to fly a CJ. We will do steep turns, stalls and you will see amazing drone footage of the plane. After all anyone should be able to fly a plane.

You're finally online again because you do it really professionally and have a lot of experience. It's just fun to watch your videos and learn a lot from you!
I guess you are coming from my Russian channel. Are you ok with watching videos in English or should I keep the Russian version as well?
Wow!!! Great airplane, great video!

Premier for sure😉! Phenom, Eclipse and the pilot training videos will be awesome!

Awesome! I am flying 525RP now! Good video. Thanks.
It's a great plane! Say hi to Tim 😉
Great video dude. Super informative and easy to understand I can share this with clients considering the 525. Would love to see a Phenom 100 or Mustang video
Thanks Tom. Definitely do share. We'll work on P100 & Mustang.

@@MaxJetRev No, I'm not flying.
Cool! And good luck!
Thank you. What other planes should we film?
Loved the drone shots. Don’t think I’ve ever seen that with a small jet.
Thanks 😀. It requires a lot of precision and coordination to get those shots done.
Amazing 🙌🙌🙌🙌

@@MaxJetRev Of course! It's Jourdan from Tom's Escobars chat.
@@JourdanUrbach what plane?
@@MaxJetRev just sold my Colemill president II a55 Baron, still have a tailwheel pacer.
@@JourdanUrbach love tailwheel flying. Great Lakes is probably one of my favorite planes.
The panel behind the engine is the thrust attenuator, like the T-37 trainer has.
You are absolutely right. I didn't know T-37 had those. Do fly T-37?
Almost but not quite. The Tweet (T-37) the thrust attenuators would come out in flight. On the CJ they are ground only. Both throttles below 85% and they extend.
Love your videos!
Thank you for your feedback. Do you fly?
@@MaxJetRev My pleasure. Yes I fly a Mooney M20J out of KHWO.
I fly helicopters out of HWO
@@MaxJetRev cool! Do you instruct fixed wing for instrument rating?
@@rodolfocastro3222 I do, but only in jets 😉
Very Good videos Max, you have a fresh and unique approach here especially keying in on various ownership issues for a pilot owner. Sometimes the audio (speech) is a little difficult to understand, words get dropped or not spoken clearly. . Would like to see a citation mustang video, plus some analysis of pros and cons between that ship and the CJ 525. I’m currently flying a TBM910.
Thank you for feedback. I'm trying to share my knolage as a pilot and operator. Will look into doing a TBM vs a Citation comparison. Would be able to allow us to film your TBM?
@@MaxJetRev where are you based ? Just curious if you have flown yourself a TBM?
@@AZee-hh4mk Miami. I never flown a TBM.
interesting !!!. thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching. Do you fly?
@@MaxJetRev oh yes, that is the reason i like your videos, because you showed us the stall speed on jets. I am stil VFR now, but i remember practicing a lot how to avoid stalls and spins. Are you CFI?
@@zoozolplexOne yes, I'm a CFI. I teach for jet type ratings and mentor fresh jets pilots.
@@MaxJetRev I am Glad you are a CFI, may be you can recommend me a good jet type rating school.
Nice video, Max! PapaLima is not interested in using the relief tube for some reason. 😆
Than you! Relief tube can save a day.
Great video-thanks! Your thoughts on winglets on CJs?
I don't have real operating experience with winglets. Judging by common cense I would say they should be useful on CJ3 / 3+, because the range increase will be noticeable on 3/3+.
Love the content, would be amazing coming in the cockpit with you
Thank you. Do you fly?
@@MaxJetRev I run out of money whilst training for a single prop license in the UK, so now I just indulge in flight sim and watch hours of aviation KZhead videos like this one :)

Great review, Great English, Max !!! 19:12 Can figure 0.6 for VRef and 0.7 for V2 at AOA indicator be used on other more big Citatons (Like Citation X, CJ4, Citation XL/XLS) as reference or it is applicable just for small CJ series 500/525/M2 ? Thank you in advance for the reply.
It can be used in any plane that has direct or indirect (in form of a green donut on airspeed tape) indication of AOA. AOA gives instant indication of stall margin, which allows for precise flying, where as airspeed lags.
@@MaxJetRev Thank you for prompt and clear asnwer. Will refresh my Principles of Flight Knowledge ;)
@@andrewletaev2097 unfortunately traditional schools don't emphasize the importance of AOA enough.
Nobody answered thrust attenuators! The P&W JT15Ds use thrust reversers while the Williams FJ44s use thrust attenuators to decrease landing distance by diverting idle thrust. Interesting video - answered some question I have had about the difference between the 525 and by 501SP.
Yes 👍 Do you know why newer FJ44’s don’t have attenuators?
It's a thrust deflecter to protect the fuselage
That's a creative answer. But... Not really 😉
Would be great to have the Hondajet video in English and perhaps a Cirrus Vision Jet video
Will definitely do Honda Jet in English 😉
I saw a cesna flying at 42000 ft in flightradar24 .... is it possible
Do you know the approximate cost for the retrofit into the Garmin suite?
We did it for just over $300k. That included two G600txi’s, GI-275, Garmin autopilot, radar, XPDR and installation. We already had GTN750’s.
I believe that is a "Thrust Attenuator"
You are correct. What do you fly?
@@MaxJetRev Hey Max 👋🏼, I’m currently a B777 Captain out of JFK, but do some contract SIC work in the CJ3. I find your videos informative and helpful. I appreciate your work sir. Have a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year. I’ll be watching your content. Thanks again.
@@timothyjhaller8449thank you. Happy holidays! I learned to fly in FRG and the very first flight I did after my Private check ride was to JFK in a DA-20. The landing fee use to be $25 for a DA-20 😁 I was 17 back then.
@@MaxJetRev 👏🏻 what a daunting flight going into JFK as a fresh PPL. I believe that set the tone for all of your aviation successes and is reflected in your work today. Keep up the good work Max!
@@timothyjhaller8449 thank you and Happy New Year!
Cool screens. What’s the price to install it?
$300k+ If you refer to avionics. It depends what you have pre installed.
Very small, that's why I take the bus!
Same as car vs bus.
renato comprou um desse então...
Who's Renato?
Trust vectoring behind the engine, if I may? Thank you
That’s a wild guess. Unfortunately CJ is not a fighter. Although it does vector thrust out 😉 What do you think it is used for?
My bad, what I meant was to slow it down
@@danarami6378 that’s correct. Thrust attenuators block forward thrust which in turn helps the pane slow down, because early FJ44 engines had relatively high idle thrust.
another words, poor man's trust reversers on my next trip to NYC I'd contact you, perhaps for a short time if you're available and not flying? Thank you Max,
@@danarami6378 I’m not in NYC 😅
You should make a separate video to introduce yourself and include a story about how you became a pilot and how you got all these ratings.
I will make a video about myself when I have 100k subscribers 😀
@@MaxJetRev what if that video would bring u the 100k subscribers? hehe
