In primates, recognition of snakes is instinctive, but fear of snakes is learned. Today, caretakers of the jungle school set about teaching them.

    • you reminded me a story. Prepare for an adventure. It was my freshman year of high school at a charter school with a small farm behind it for on-hands learning in our agriculture and biology classes. We had just bought a dozen baby chickens, seemingly safe in a wooden hutch. But a student came running one day from the farm, screaming about a large snake. We all rushed to the farm to discover 2 had already been swallowed and the snake was working on his third. It was a pretty big snake so we all stood back. Except one kid who took it into his own hands and stomped on the skull of the snake until he was just a motionless noodle. For some reason this kid decided it would be a good idea to pick the snake up. As the girls began to panic, he realized the power he had. He chased everyone back into the school, swinging the snake around by his tail. He was able to throw it into the bathroom trash can before any staff saw him.

    • AO Shark they really are adorable. It's so funny how they whipped a couple of sticks at the object. What I found to be really touching is how they all huddled together to comfort each other and/or protect each other. Besides them all being huddled together and looking so sweet it brought to mind how much smarter animals are than people. Very seldom will you find people who will comfort you when you're scared and hold you tight in an attempt to protect you. The way they rest their hands on each others' backs and shoulders speaks volumes about how much they must care for each other. I wouldnt mind getting some comfort and reassurance like that from somebody but I have noticed it is nonexistent with the people I know. I guess you could say I'm jealous of the bond they have but I'm glad they all have each other lol
