@@glenc5929 huh?
As an Indonesian myself, I see some comments mentioning how sad it is that orangutans are threatened to be extinct, if you do love these funny cute mammals I really recommend you to stop using palm oil related product since the deforestation in Borneo are mainly caused by massive palm plantations and donate to local Borneo orangutans keeper communities
Thank you for the advice. I did not know this.
This comment should be on the top. Many people here blindly blame the poachers. Everyone must know what is the real problem.
Yes, and as an Indian I'm sorry because India is one of the biggest consumers of palm oil. I am strictly against a trade that destroys our neighbors ecology. There are many other sources like coconut or olive or mustard in india that can grow without deforestation here. We must stop destroying environment just for the sake of greed.

How they comfort each other is so cute.
What's interesting is that it's not an entirely "natural" phenomenon for two young orangutans to do that. What I mean is, in the wild, orangutans are very solitary creatures. Unlike troop-based primates like gorillas and chimps, young orangutans spend almost all their time exclusively with their mothers and, under normal circumstances, would very rarely encounter another orangutan infant to interact with. These little orphans have adapted to care for and comfort each other in a way that would just not take place outside the unique setting of this orphanage/rehab center, and it's adorable.
@Jackson Five 😂
@@broctheil4744 Agreed, they look for physical affection wherever they can find it. No mother to cling to? Hug your playmate.
They don't comfort the playmates (like macaques, capuchins, gibbons, vervets...all monkeys; or like chimps, bonobos, gorillas...all the apes) but they take profit, return: each one tries to be protected by the other. It's not their interest to protect their playmates. Griffith Chung is right, they look for their own personal physical affection, their own personal advantage: they aren't cute !

20 years ago on ABC Radio National (Australia), a research and expert on orangutans told a story. One day he was walking through a clearing in the jungle when he heard an orangutan screaming. He raced into the jungle and quickly found a fire which had encircled a baby. The mother was standing outside the fire, screaming. The researcher found a way in, grabbed the baby, got out of the fire and presented to the mother who snatched it off him, took one look at his eyes, and raced off with the baby. A week later the researcher was walking through the same clearing when the mother, a wild orangutan, came out of the jungle, took him be the hand, and took him into the jungle to a special tree. The tree had leaves regarded as a delicacy, and which the orangutans conserved. The mother took a handful of leaves and gave it to him.

@@KyuuDesperation just to let u know, orangutans r from borneo and sumatra only
@@KyuuDesperation Orangutans are so intelligent compared to the usual animal encounters that it's easy to dismiss such tales as myth, but elephants (and other animals, even predators) have been shown to remember humans that helped, so an Orangutan behaving in this way makes sense. I don't know why people dislike this c'mon these orangutans are cute.
I've don't understand either. How ANYONE could hurt or abuse one of these animals, so similar to ourselves, that really pose no threat to us what so ever, except we are greedy and want their environment for our own gain, with is unconscionable. There should be great punishment coming to any who maliciously and intentionally harm these gentle, innocent primates. I see so much of our own kind in them, naturally, well, along with ANY human with more than 2 braincells to rub together, and an ounce of compassion in their hearts. These people in Borneo, Sumatra, Indonesia..... absolute selfless HEROS with hearts of pure gold! Many thanks be to ALL of these people who care enough to do what they do to take in, care for and teach them what only their fallen mothers could do in any other situation.
