This film was made by 3rd year bachelor students from "Character Animation and Animated Filmmaking" in GOBELINS, as part of a pedagogical exercise using special effects.

  • The solemn atmosphere created from the visuals combined with the music, ramps up into something anticipatory and anxious as it moves along. I feel it is conveyed really well with all these combined elements

  • Just a nobody's take here, but... does this feel like a Ghibli reminiscence to anyone else? Like, I'm totally projecting.. But I mean. Spirited Away? Ponyo, Howl, Marnie? And even outside of the Ghiblidom, the animated film Garden of Words. all of those atmospheric waterscape settings sophistically smashed together, but all grown-the-f*ck-up and darkly alluring.... As Ghibli is my childhood, it got me thinking about how childhoods in general, especially good ones, tend to be remembered a bit sourly as one ages. Because life can hunt for, but cannot reexperience, those innocent highs ever again... So the house of memory crumbles, while the mind ebbs and flows with it. Such a gorgeously set short overall. I'll gladly keep this in my dreams.
