  • I can't help but feel bitter-sweet about this film. I'm entering my last year of highschool and I'm so scared of what my future holds, and what will happen to all the relationships I've built over the years. I understand Ren's fear of losing his friends, but I admire the fact that he accepts that may come to pass and instead appreciates the time he spent with them. I hope that I can enjoy this year with my friends, and create memories I can fondly look back on. Edit: I'm graduating in a week! It hasn't quite hit me yet though, but I'll update you all once the day arrives!

    • I may not be close to the end of my highschool years, but I'm afraid of "growing up". I'm afraid of forgetting, I'm afraid of losing the feeling of pure happiness. I'm afraid of being forgotten, being cold and alone. I don't want to forget them, I don't want them to forget me, but I moved away already, how am I going to maintain this friendship? Am I going to lose them? They chase their dreams with certainty, and I don't even know who I am without them.

    • @Marco Adventures sounds like you need to do a lot of soul searching, a lot of these fears are just that a concept that scares you, it's not a definitive thing. Why does growing up make you feel like all those things will happen? Growing up gives you the freedom to make what you can't do as a youth because you are too young, you get to choose for yourself, instead of being told what to do and not to do. And with friendships they will always come and go and change, don't stay stuck on the way something is I only one moment, appreciate it for what it is and what it will be as well, there is not negativity in something changing, just newness and adventure. You see it in such a bleak and negative light but Growing up is actually quite exciting, fun and positive, you just need to see past your ideas of what it could be, I'm sure you see business men types and think "that doesn't look fun" then why would you choose that life for yourself? Create your life to be the life you'd love to live don't just let it be whatever anyone else wants it to be. It's YOUR life do with it what YOU want! 😁

We're 29 now, she lives across the country, even further then she did in hs/college and i am still going to be a bridesmaid in her upcoming wedding. I see her maybe once a year, if that. You have to be intentional. She was the worst texter in college so we've never had consistent conversation going but she also always knew she was never a bother if she called me out of the blue.

  • This short film made me cry and so emotional. I’m a musician who recently had to leave his best friends and bandmates to move to another country and there isn’t a single day that I don’t think about the last time we played together, or the last festival that we were part of. I love everything about it, the cute art style, vibrant colour, pleasant plot, endearing characters and fantastic music. I like how you can tell Ren feels destroyed about disbanding through his miserable expression. He cherishes his friends and the band they established.

I’ve never been in a band but Ren’s story is heavily relatable..the way he’s staying while everyone around him is changing and moving on + the overwhelming sadness of not wanting your loved ones and the good times to go. this month one of the scariest changes is about to happen and I’m terrified, I can’t imagine the grief I’ll feel if things go wrong but it’s also making me cherish every moment I have with my loved one for the rest of the month. • I come back to this short film every now and then. The simple yet appealing artsyle, the nostalgic lighting and backgrounds, the music, the imagery, the vibes, and especially the story make this so special. Last summer, the idea of my friends drifting away crossed my mind a lot, but I often just pushed those thoughts aside since they’re, well... scary thoughts. We had two years of quarantine and online school in my country. In a time where a kid couldn’t feel anymore alone, they kept me from falling into that. I bet we all kept each other from falling into that. I still feel like two entire years of my youth were taken away just like that, but my friends kind of alleviated that loss for me. These guys were a constant for me. We’d hang out in VC all day everyday playing games or just talking after (or during lmao) class. We wouldn’t even have to ask each other to join the call. One of us hops in VC, everyone else comes in. I remember laughter, so many inside jokes, and feeling carefree. It’s gonna sting so much when I lose this, and I think it’s starting to happen. We all go to different schools and some of us are in entirely different cities. So it’s a no brainer that when physical classes finally returned this year, we’d hang out less. We still hang out from time to time, but it’s gotten less frequent. As we near the last years of high school, work gets heavier and time lessens. One of them even left without a word to keep up with these things. I understand that building up your future is important and I very much wouldn’t like to interfere with that, but I’m just upset that they didn’t say anything before leaving. But I’m rambling at this point. I know friends naturally come and go and that I already have been miraculously making new friends, but making new friends doesn’t necessarily take away the sting from losing them. It’s so, so very difficult for me to talk to and connect with people for a natural lack of social skill, so it just sucks so much to lose people that I so quickly connected with. It takes so much for me to build up relationships. I’m gonna try to make the most of what time we have left to be kids together. I’m gonna miss these guys so much. Cattleyans, I know we’d never, ever say this type of thing to each other’s faces, but I love you guys.

    • Wow. I loved this comment. When I was younger I had an online friend group and I don’t think they understand how much they helped me in my life. I don’t Even know if they really remember me. I had another group of friends (irl) a little later in my life. They still go to the same school as me and stuff but I never talk to them anymore since we don’t have any classes together and they’ve definitely changed a lot. The idea of friends fading away and someone never knowing how much they meant to you and them not feeling the same way about you is really scary, but I at least feel like by the time I graduate I’ll be used to it, considering most of my closet friends are older than me. Anyway, your comment reminded me of my experiences, and I always love hearing about others lost friends and memories, it’s very bittersweet.

    • @@torquedawg1004yeah.. I kinda get this. I have had my friend groups over time, my first one consisting of me and two other people, and one of them wasn’t even really my friend, I just considered her one because she was the friend of my real friend, y know? I didn’t like her though. Me and that one friend still text occasionally but we never hang out, ever. That’s how it is with the majority of friends I have, we go long periods of time without talking, sometimes days, sometimes weeks, months, sometimes over a year. My most recent friend group consisted of originally four people, who were all my friends, but… things change, one person in that group changed so much I don’t even remember what she used to be like. The group of four didn’t stay a group of four for even a year, it.. shattered. Two people, left, and then it was just two of us. Me and my “friend” she’s… toxic now. I can’t stand her, being around her brings out a side of me I don’t like, and she is always making fun of my insecurities to make herself feel better, I’m almost glad we go to different schools this year. I won’t text her unless she texts me now. One of the four who originally left though, we still text, not often at all, but she’s a great person. I’m currently getting used to the flow of Highschool, and although people are nice I haven’t made any true friends. I wish I could have a perfect group of four, as shown in the video, but I know, just like in the video, people drift, change, and it’s never the same.

I love this animation style, it's strangely minimalist but incredibly expressive and they don't make the mistake that many youtube animators do of over-animating their characters' movements. It's subdued and subtle but still fluid and doesn't cut corners by only animating parts of the characters at a time, like anime often does. Great vibe, great little story, great characters and incredibly well done overall!

  • I've never been in a band, but I've had friends that I'm super close with. This situation feels a lot like my current one and I can really empathize with the characters. My roommates (we live in a college dorm together), left for the Summer a few weeks ago and I've been struggling with feeling disconnected from them and feeling like I'm the only one who cares so much; however, my roommates make it known that they miss me too in their own ways. I shed a lil tear while watching it and really enjoyed the animation.

  • This video has been popping out on my feed for a while now, I watched a bit of it back then but never finished it because I felt it would leave a bittersweet feeling on me, it did I can't help but wonder what would have happened to my circle of friends if it didn't dissolve the way it did, having the same friends since kindergarten all the way to junior high made me unaware of how much I sucked at MAKING friends, looking back, my friends probably had other friends outside of our own circle, and I didn't, so I never thought about what would happen once we all parted ways, once it did, I don't know what happened. High school went by fast and I ended up on my own, I feel weird whenever I recall someone from my past and I haven't had "that type" of friends anymore, seeing or hearing about the strong friendship stories make me mourn over the friendships I lost in a blink of an eye, but something about the beauty of strong friendships make me feel euphoric, I hope I don't grow old fast enough to miss on the opportunity for interactions like these, I would like to experience it for myself at least once

  • I come back many times watching this short film and I can't help but liking it more and more, but most of all understanding it even better and have a deeper thought about it and the characters. Through this story, the protagonist spend the time with their lifetime friends, chilling and having a good time (summer feels like forever); but the conflict is told really naturally and instead of start is something that was already implicitly happening, which is the separation of the group. The protagonist is so homesick and just want the good times to keep happening and stay like that (all the perfect times are stuck on repeat). But this is what life is about, a journey where you find good friends but at the end of the day no one stay still. We all have to move to continue living, from the biologically to the most spiritual sense, and that's ok. At the end, the protagonist finally understands and that last breeze is the representation of how he is finally aware of it.

Tonight was one of our timed last hang-outs, we've been friends for over a decade, best friends, childhood friends, I'm beyond happy for them, though, I'll miss it, I'll miss us but like Ren, I accept it and now nothing left to do but smile at it all. It was a good ride. Fantastic work guys.

The way you captured their personalities through their designs, the way every bandmate is distinctly different from each other, it’s fantastic! And the vibe, the aura, the hot son beating down on the characters, it feels just like summer! I heavily related to the vibes of moving on and getting to a new stage in your life and having to leave people behind, and it made the story 10x better. I just, this is so good, wow!

  • I never thought about commenting on this video when I had first watched it one week after it's release on my youtube recommended. My name is actually Ren and I love drawing/animating, guitar/uke, and songwriting/singing haha. I felt like I was straight up looking at myself, like uncanny valley type-shit. But what made it all tumble down on me is that I'm in the Class of 23. I'm graduating and leaving all my friends behind, this whole short film has expressed my feelings of growing up and closing a chapter of my life before Fall semester starts for college. It made me damn cry after watching it the first time, no joke I realized I am who Ren is in this animation. It's terrifying how the youtube algorithm can find me in a time like this, also how a group of animators can create me without intending to, quite literally, create me. Trust me my hair looks like his LOL
