Sims 1 vs Sims 2 vs Sims 3 - Police
Sims 1
In The Sims 1, there is an NPC Police Officer named Michelle the Policewoman. And there are few instances when she'll appear on your lot.
Your childhood anxiety began with the sound of a burglar trying to break into your house. Michelle will come holding a baton. Once she spots the burglar, the police officer will blow her whistle and the burglar will stop immediately, with his hands in the air.
If a Sim uses this chemistry set outdoors during school hours, or if it's used by a Sim with low logic skill, Potion Enforcement Agent Angie, a police officer, will come to your door and fine the Sim §500 because of the smell.
Sims that throw a party with many guests at night, can receive a visit from the police.
Sims 2
In The Sims 2, There are also NPC police officers that can visit you different occasions.
The most obvious one is when there's a burglar on the lot and the alarm goes off or a Sim calls it in. a Police Officer will arrive immediately driving a police car, and unlike The Sims , the burglar will not surrender without a fight. If the police officer wins, they will cuff the burglar and put them at the back seat of the patrol car. If the police officer loses, the burglar will escape with everything they have stolen.
If a Sim throws a party at night, and has music playing on a stereo, they can sometimes receive a visit from the police.
In The Sims 2, A teen Sim can run away from the household when they have negative relationships with the other members of the family. Another occasion a teen Sim can come in contact with the police is when they try to sneak out. If they get caught sneaking out after curfew, they'll be brought home in the back of a patrol car.
With The Sims 2: University, Sims can counterfeit money. If they're caught printing money, a police officer will arrive and give the Sim a lecture and a fine.
Sims 3
The Sims 3 also has NPC police officers that show up on several occasions in the game. Like in the previous Sims games, when a burglar tries to break in, a police officer will arrive on the lot driving a patrol car. and like in The Sims 2, the Police Officer will have to fight the burglar. If the officer wins, the burglar will be arrested. If the police officer loses the fight or come a bit late, the burglar will escape with the stolen goods.
In the Sims 3, a police officer can arrest your Sim when they're working as a criminal. The police officer will bring the criminal to the police station. The Sim will then be detained for 12-24 hours.
Vampires can also be arrested in The Sims 3 if they're caught raiding a grocery store or a hospital.
Teens t are pulling a prank on other Sims, even pranking the whole school, can be caught by the police. Teen Sims can also be busted by the police when they violate curfew. Police can also come to break up a party. If your sims' party gets too wild.
Unfortunately, The Sims 4 doesn't have NPC Police Officers.

    • I think they only get the “met ____” memory if they actually talk to that person, so if they themselves don’t interact directly with the robber then they won’t get a memory of meeting them…but I could be wrong!

    • Gets even better. Sims will get angry with the robber but as that anger subsides in the end they will have like 100 relationship with the robber.

    • @@BooDotBoo I mean, TS4 will still be supported long enough, many things have come into game with updates, like small children. Problem is not "when", problem is "for how much", like how "Pets" have been chopped into Cats and dogs, rodent pack and now horses (what next, birds?). I actually enjoy playing TS4 a lot, but I buy things on the biggest discount that there are.

    • Idk, I played the sims games from early age and never found thieves scary. I rather considered them annoying because of negative mood buff after things being stolen and I used to put reset sim code in console

  • Also in the Sims 3, while the burglar is waiting at the car you can ask for a relationship, one time my sim asked the police to release the burglar and my sim added her to the family household and have a family. That was funny when one of the sim kid asked how did you meet.

  • In The Sims 2 University: if a student is a member of the Secret Society he can hack his grades, but if he manages to trigger the security systems, the police will arrive, fine him, return the grades to the original value and officer can also take away the computer :)

  • I remember 1 time when I was playing the Sims 3. A burglar came into my house so I called the police. After the police caught the Burglar and put him in the car, The Police Officer gave all my items back but TOOK MY PLATE OF FOOD FOR NO REASON!!! WHY??

They must've talked long and thoroughly about it and decided to axe it. Everything else like no open world is definitely incompetence and laziness.

  • The most ironic and contradictory part about The Sims 4 is that there’s a whole career of being a cop/detective and was primarily marketed with this profession when they released the Get To Work expansion pack, yet cops don’t actually exist outside of your sims’ job lol. So they had the NERVE to sell a $40 expansion pack where you get to work as a cop, but didn’t even take the time to add actual NPC cops and robbers to the game💀

  • I feel like 2009 was just not a good year to release Sims 3, it was way too ambitious for the tech they had back then and it made us lose a lot of good things from Sims 2, it did give us many features that future life sims can add though. I'm glad that Life By You is getting delayed so that they can work on the character models and features more, if only this was done to Sims 3...

  • In TS2:U, a police officer will wear Secret Society uniforms, and kidnap new inductees in a limo. In both TS2/3, your sims can also release the burglars after captured by the police. If you have the Miner in TS3, you can dig at the police station to free criminals too. I find it so comical that speedy vampires in TS3 just teleport to police vehicles, when they certainly can outrun the officers in pursuit. Also, not so realistic for teens to run right to the police car too. 🤷‍♀️ I love the intricate details of Sims 2, especially when returning the teens after getting caught sneaking out, they lecture the parents. Also, if you have butlers in Sims 2, they will autonomously call the police if you happen to invite or bring home (from work), a burglar. It will result in a fine, this could be quite costly, without mods...lol 😂

  • I remember in Sims 3 my criminal Sim got arrested but just as he went into the Police station his phone rang and I told him to answer it. He then appeared outside the station talking on his phone. At the end of the call he just stood outside and no one told him to go back in, so I just made him go home. It didn't work the next time he got arrested though.

  • Sims 4 do have police officers, they’re called detectives and they pretty much do the same thing as police officers. But more in depth.
