  • The Henry Rollins show was on IFC the independent film channel ( which in the early 2000s was amazing) I use to watch The Rollins show every week as a teen. I loved it, it followed the flow of his spoken word performances, sometimes funny but often times more sarcastic, angry and poignant with serious subject matter. often about the Bush Jr administration. he usually had interesting conversations, I really enjoyed his Ozzy interview, skits, and some memorable live band recordings from under appreciated artist.

    • He didn't wanna say heroin. Even if you're sober, it's still frowned upon to admit it, more than meth, weirdly enough. Despite the fact that it's the tweakers hitting that boofy pipe that steal peoples stuff & go crazy & hurt people. I've seen it first hand cuz its an epidemic in my small rural area.

      @DoobieKeebler@DoobieKeebler2 жыл бұрын
    • @@DoobieKeebler as distructive as meth is, heroin is a different class all together, so addictive even doing codine a lesser version of it can cause people to spiral out of control thats probably why, still though ive seen people in my area on meth and crack and it isn't pretty either

      @poopghost9845@poopghost98452 жыл бұрын
    • @@poopghost9845 Im gonna have to disagree with you, to a point. While, yes, it's insanely addicting.... and you can overdose from it and die, the drug itself isn't really that bad for people, in context. That may sound crazy, but just walk with me for a second. I've seen many people on both. One, the other, and both at the same time. Meth is the one that has caused personal friends of mine to literally lose their minds. They are walking zombies now, that live under bridges& steal from stores to support their meth habits. You can't even have conversations with them because they might be transfixed on a tree leaf on the ground, talking about "it's my 'special leaf... my special leaf,'" like an out of it Gollum from LotR. That being said, I've personally had friends die from heroin, but I STILL say meth is worse because it takes over your mind like one of those parasites that attatches to insects. Meth makes you violent, paranoid, willing to steal from family & friends... While heroin just makes you a danger to yourself, and many people on heroin take it because they were given opiates from doctors, but were taken off....

      @DoobieKeebler@DoobieKeebler2 жыл бұрын
    • @@DoobieKeebler I have been very hooked on, and quit using both. I have to agree with you. The meth days were filled with violence and insanity. The heroin days were just normal. Outside of the desire to do the drug, we worked and played, just as we would without the drug. If both were legalized, from my experience, the meth people would still end up in jail, due to behavior, while the heroin people would just continue their lives, and use their drug a few times a day, while they lived their normal lives. (this is assuming correct dosing)

  • I've always liked Steve O. Now while I thought he was cool back when he was living a totally insane life, I really do love seeing him get his shit together. While I'm not a huge 12 stepper these days, it did help me a bunch in my early sobriety. For whatever reason, I only dip my toe back into the rooms every once in a while to see how my friends are doing. There is one thing I know for sure though, if I did end up back out there living that insane life again, once I'd half way come to my senses, I'd be getting my ass back to them meetings. I'm not the type for telling other folks what they should and shouldn't do, so it can be a pain in the ass dealing with some of the personalities you'll find at most meetings. I've seen a decent number of people from the rooms out and about in the real world and while a bunch of them were happy and really supportive, of course there were also a few that said something along the lines of, "you'll be back, yada yada yada" I wish everyone well that is getting their shit happening, both in and out of the rooms and even more I send all of my love and faith out to them addicts still out there spinning their wheels. Considering how much of a total fuck up I was, if I can manage to get and stay sober for even a few days, then it's gotta be possible for just about anyone.

I saw Rollins out front one time when I was parked across the street waiting for my buddy. It was pretty awkward. My buddy's SUPER perverted (like far beyond anything I've ever heard or seen) gay roommate who owned the house ended up dying from a cocaine overdose in the backyard. Cops were looking for my buddy and my brother to question them about the death. It was some weird shit. Good times.
