In this video, we look through the history of Minecraft Pocket Edition and the major evolution that the game went through throughout 2011 to 2023. The game would eventually be renamed simply to Minecraft in 2017 (which is where the evolution ends).

  • If you are wondering why the evolution ends at V1.1, it is because Pocket Edition was renamed to simply Minecraft and was referred to as Bedrock Edition.

  • Its so sad that children today will not have the experience we had as a kid. It was a blast living in the golden age of minecraft. 2011-2013

    @pebble_rocks@pebble_rocks6 ай бұрын
    • It truly was, sometimes I wish the game was still under Notch's control. Although the team was smaller, the updates and additions felt significant and fit the puzzle of what the game had represented. I miss that indie vibe. Unfortunately kids today won't understand how it felt.

    • Maybe but since minecraft is always updating the updates people have now will seem nostalgic in 10 years to the new players. Also mod support, redstone, mobility, server support, and many other things are way better now. To be honest the golden age of minecraft is stupid because you can play those versions if you want the only reason people consider 20XX the golden age of minecraft is because of who they played it with and because it was new. I don’t know why I’m even commenting this I guess I’m just saying it isn’t that sad for new kids playing the game for the first time.

  • 5:13 Man, 0.5.0 was the version I started playing Minecraft PE. I was 13 years old, I didn’t have my own PC nor a PC that could run Minecraft very well. I remember playing this on my Grandpa’s Kindle Fire while he was at work. I had such amazing memories building houses, discovering Minecraft PE KZheadrs, countless laughs playing local multiplayer with my friends. 11 years later and multiple versions of Minecraft later, I’m still playing Minecraft at the age of 24. I now play Minecraft Bedrock on my PS5 and the similarities between Bedrock and OG Pocket Edition is very nostalgic to me and I’m glad I found this game. This game has gotten me through so much and still continues to get me through life. Definitely a top 5 favorite game of all time. ❤️

    • For some strange reason your comment was held for review and I wasn't able to read it. It's awesome to see that you still continue to play and enjoy Minecraft so many years later. Minecraft is a game that feels timeless, you can never truly stop playing it. I really hope that it won't crumble under Microsoft's control, and that it will continue to blossom for many more years!

    • To be honest, I’m a little salty that the console editions turned into MCPE with a controller. Don’t get me wrong, I am nostalgic towards older MCPE versions, but I’m also nostalgic to the legacy console versions of the game (mainly the Xbox one edition) and I was disappointed to say the least, when I first booted up the bedrock version of the game on the Xbox one.

  • 0.9.0 or 0.8.0 was the version I started playing when I was around 6 or 7 and the mcpe community at the time was way different than it is today. The nostalgia I get from old mcpe videos on how to crouch without the crouch button (since the crouch button wasn’t added yet) and making campfires out of boats and a torch. These early versions of mcpe are in my opinion the best to start mcpe with since every new update after it felt like it was slowly catching up to Java and a better and newer experience.

    @CrytpoHyphen@CrytpoHyphen6 ай бұрын
    • At around that same time, it felt that MCPE was at its peak point. The game was on a roll, the updates were fantastic, and the game felt likes its own separate experience from the Java and console versions. Eventually I feel like Bedrock kinda ruined the "specialness" that PE had.

  • Early minecraft PE was such a fun experience for how early stage it was. I remember i had the “stonecutter” before it was fully added and implemented on all platforms, and that you had to dig straight down to mine because there was just no mines yet either. Bedrock could also be broken in creative and youd just fall thru the world into the void. 1st house i built was a ugly dirt house in the side of a mountain which i planted flowers in the walls

My sister's classmate downloaded a newer version of Minecraft back then on her phone, where I play (didn't have a phone back then) I was so happy because the world wasn't limited anymore and the nether update newer stuff too, and the rush as a kid exploring in Minecraft makes it more thrilling, this game has a special place in my heart.

I have an old world with a bunch of old nether reactor towers, man that was so unique at the time. Also discovered that the old limited worlds had this thing where you could just build up to the world limit and you can just walk out of your world lol. ALSO, I played minecraft LITE alot before I got the main game. The MC LITE app is still on my phone but I cant play it because its not on the app store anymore but I keep it on my phone just as a nostalgia thing.
