FNAF is what got me in to MatPat and the Theorist channels, so seeing him show up in the movie was amazing.
Matpat was actually in the movie where those criminals are disscusing how to get mike fired at a restaraunt the say they aren’t hungry and matpat says, “you know lunch is the most important meal of the day” and then says “but that’s just a theory”

Imagine when the movie finally comes out and MatPat actually was saving a surprise for cameo and that this theory actually was a mystery to the real one coming out in the film. If MatPat does make a cameo it will probably be the most lore thing to happen in all of FNAF.

I love the idea of video game movies just setting up a different universe that's still based on the franchise rather than basing the movie in the same universe from the established lore. Sonic did it, Mario did it, and now FNAF did. This isn't really game changing but it's a neat detail I wanted to point out.
Well to be fair they did that with the books already, but it’s nice to see other forms of media with the same franchise doing the same thing

My theory: In the first night of being a security guard, he falls asleep, in his dream he saw five kids, the kid with blonde hair is Golden Freddy, the kid with a top hat is Freddy, The kid with bunny ears is Bonnie, and the kid with pigtails is Chica, also the kid with a hook is Foxy
The fact that this movie was able to be pieced together just from trailers shows just why I hate movie trailers and watch movies going in blind if I can help it.

Ever since the announcement I’ve been waiting for a film theory on this franchise and even if he’s wrong on this theory you can’t deny he’s accurate in what we got from these trailers so far and I’m impressed every time. Can’t wait to see what people are thinking to casual audiences when they don’t know the franchise. Can’t wait for the movie regardless if this is the story or something else.

I'm kind of surprised Mat didn't make the connection between the 5th kids STRIPED shirt and the puppets arms! Don't know if that'll be anything and I'm not veteran enough in the lore to speculate further, but Mat saying that they didn't share ANY characteristic with one of the animatronics felt a little odd when the colouring and pattern is almost identical to the puppets arms.
I see where you're coming from but it would feel a little odd to me. The group of the 5 missing children from the incident are usually considered those who haunted Bonny, Chica, Foxy, Freddy, and Golden Freddy (as evidenced by FNAF 3 endscreen), whereas the Puppet, AKA Charlotte, was kind of a separate thing. Which considering them as being a totally separate figure makes sense, considering their different narrative role (being the 'gift/life-giver' after all). So just showing the kid who would become the Puppet on the same playing field and occupying the same role, just kinda standing there, with the other missing children, is kind of odd stylistically... like they should have some special place at least. Also not that it definitely matters since it's an adaptation, but Charlotte was not a boy and the kid in this is clearly a boy- only mentioning it since the other characters seem to follow the same rough character types. That being said in your favor, the FNAF 6 tombstones end screen does show Charlotte being included in the same screen as the 5 missing children. So that adds to your point potentially. Also worth considering is the popular theory in the games that Golden Freddy is possessed by two spirits, Cassidy (the 5th missing child) & the Crying Child (Mike's brother)... I don't think they're gonna go with that in the movie but it would highlight how even in the games potentially, that Cassidy, and thus Golden Freddy, is more separate from the other missing children, making it easier to imagine the Puppet being more closely aligned to them. One final thing in your favor, is in the trailer, there is a specific few frames showing that striped child running alone. Could this mean they are special, or is it just randomly one of the kids running?
@@Bawhoppen yes but if you take into account matpat's other theories--mainly that the puppet was the first child killed, and thus was there the whole time and ignoring the chica theory where she's the first--then it would make sense that the child would be the puppet. However I've seen another theory in the comments stating that the one in the front could be freddy and the golden tophat wearing one could be golden freddy, so we also have to take that into account.
@oddabandon We have high confidence that the top hat wearing one is Freddy, not Golden Freddy, as the actor is shown in the scene, leading to the Freddy jump scare.

I have always had this theory, so I’ll share it here since the cupcake is brought up. I think the cupcake is Susie’s dog. Hear me out. Chica’s the only character that has a smaller animatronic with them, and Susie is the only one we know the way Afton lured her to her death, claiming her dog is still alive, and is with him. A lot of people think the dog is Mangle, as it acts a lot more animalistic. However, the animatronic has literally been ripped apart constantly, and is build like an animal, so it physically can’t attack like person, or like the other animatronics. As for the movie, the cupcake literally jumps on the dudes face. It acts a lot like a guard dog. Unable to protect her when they were alive, but still trying to protect her now as animatronics. I personally believe this theory. It’s so small, it probably doesn’t impact the lore much, if at all, but it makes a lot of sense, and helps draw similarities from Susie to Chica. Chica and her cupcake - Susie and her dog, it lines up really well. Thought it’d bring it up here.

The thing is, since so much of the story has already been told, the movie will probably have a much more engaging tale to follow than the first and second games. And if the movie does well enough (as it probably will given the popularity of the series) they can easily set up the plots for more movies.
Yeah, and I'm just putting my hail mary wish here for the ending. I'm hoping abby becomes baby, sure, but I also really hope Mike also gets fatally injured in some way but pulls the whole "I should be dead, but I'm not," I doubt it will happen, but if it does, :D. They aren't going the same direction as in the games so they could make some excuse similar, I just think Mike being like this conscious rotting corpse out to make amends is still such a cool idea. Again, ain't no way that happens, just a wish.

Dude, I just saw the movie yesterday! I was stunned and shocked at the entrance so much. I was at the edge of my seat when you were preforming. And the catchphrase always makes me smile: "Just a Theory"
*To be fair,* FNAF 4 does have Chica's Cupcake _attack_ for *her* rather than herself for a few times. But I guess the Cupcake in the movie could be like Bon Bon (Attatched to Funtime Freddy) from Sister Location (Who also *attacks* the player _and_ can *move* around).

A lot of people have talked about Mike's not recognizing William. What surprises me is how so many haven't considered repression of memories as trauma response to explain the lack of recognition.

Matpats comment about the Venassa Character having watched his video actually did spark the idea in me that it is really possible that the actress likly did. there is a solid chance that mutiple actors of this show got into this franchise from Matpats videos. Thats how long he's been at this.

@@cheese7119 I dont know if it was out when you posted this but he literally said that he had the entire script for the film and knew what the plot was going to be in a recent video. AFxs130 is right. he got one of his creative directors to write this theory.

Now that I saw the movie I'm suspicious that he already knew what was kinda going on with how he deduced things. Not sure, but the movie really perplexed me when thinking on the lore, so I hope he does another movie lore video.
Supporting the cupcake theory, his brown & stripy shirt could represent the ‘cup’ of the cake (or the candle), and the bowl cut is reminiscent of the cupcake’s overall round head-icing-eyes thing. The only thing we can know for sure is that the cupcake being sentient will be absolutely hilarious.

I do not at all agree with cupcake theory, the kid is an exact replica of crying child, I feel like matpat is overlooking that. Similar hair color, same color shirt with the same color stripes, same color pants, and same color shoes.

Remember that Freddy Krueger came to his victim’s nightmares in striped clothes. And in this movie, the killer, Spring Bonnie, is a golden brown animatronic. Notice how he is the closest to Michael in the dream (Springtrap is targeting Nightguards in particular) to indicate his aggression towards him. The golden kid is placed between foxy and bonnie. Springtrap is a Bonnie with similar faulty conditions as Foxy. In the shots of the movie, the golden kid is the given the forefront of the confrontation with Michael in the dreamscape realm, indicating a similar kind of rivalry that Springtrap and Michael have later on in the trailer.

i was first introduced to fnaf via your theory video attempting to connect it to the real life chuck e. cheese murders. i was around nine then and im now turning 18 next month. these videos, your theories, and these games have been such an important part of my childhood and i will forever appreciate you and your team for contributing to this series.

@@Samdoesstuff553one of the actual real life events that you could say inspired some of fnaf. plenty of channels on here have covered it time and time again. im sure 85% of true crime channels have covered it at some point (not meant a negative thing, theres just so many past true crime topics everyone has talked about).
i was probably around 15 if it was 9 years ago. i remember everyone freaking out in my doctor who club (yes we made a doctor who club at my highschool, i was on the board and one of my friends was the president).
matpat rlly travelled to the fnaf universe to work at a restaurant to find more fnaf lore
I waited to watch this video until after I'd seen the movie just incase, just for Matt to be in the movie 😂
