It’s scary to think Sabalenka can still win despite giving her opponents a bunch of free point.
Sabalenka is so unpredictable. When she's playing well, she looks like a legitimate contender to win slams, yet sometimes she has matches where she can't even seem to land a first serve. Sharapova's serve was just never the same following her shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff.
One reason why sharapova could not push Serena in matches was her inconsistent serve
This is why Mladenovic’s singles career never went anywhere. All those balls that have went into the net over the years. Ostapenko had some bad serving days because when her serve is on she is really good and she is really good at winners when she gets those angles in. Sabalenka is currently the double fault queen with Giorgi coming in at second.
To be fair Sharapova came back from actual shoulder surgery and you lose feeling in your shoulder when your arm is above your head after getting shoulder surgery. She had one of the best unreadable serves prior to surgery and also got it close to its previous glory in starting 2011. Still the only tennis player ever to win a major after shoulder surgery

Sharapova we can stand her shoulder was absolutely f*cked that time I can't imagine how she didn't just give up to play earlier. And Sabalenka forces too much the 2nd service she always ALWAYS did it but started to df as never and then it hits her mind what's the whole issue.

The video is no longer relevant. At least for Aryna Sabalenka. Her serve has become much better, and there are much fewer double faults. She made a huge leap!

@@stephaniefagan1736 This isn't about who has the worst serve technique, it's how many double faults they hit. Errani has a terrible serve, but she must get it in more consistently than those featured in this video

Kournikova, Dementieva, Sharapova, Kasatkina all had the problems. But no Russian woman did it more painfully at some points like Safina, excruciating to watch when she's struggle with her early game second serve and then all her game just crumbled with it, it hurts just to think about it. Poor Dinara, always a happier person off than on the court those days.
Yes Dementieva df were legendary. Safina didn't have the mental strength required to stay at the top.
It's pretty impressive that Sabalenka can be a top player with the yips on the serve.

I dont understand how you can hit sooo many df?! Are they just scared to get hit by fast return winners?? Cuz a soft topspin serve is easy, u just have to get it over the net 🤷🏼♂️
sharapova actually addressed this question at some point that having a safe, slow second serve would not win her any slams.

To be fair, Sabalenka had a run of TERRIBLE serving…. and since she sorted it out she has won two grandslams… so i agree that was dreadful form and not a dreadful serve… u like errani haha

I think Sabalenka is a really sweet girl but I always cheer against her because of her screaming and the fact she just seems to want to overpower with all her shots. So, I enjoy watching her miss. But it’s a shame she can still seem to win because she continues to keep pounding the balls and eventually enough go in. Very boring tennis.
