These bowls wouldn't look out of place in a multimillion dollar mansion or a mega yacht 👏🏾
Agreed! Thanks
We enjoy your show very much. My son and I are joining a Woodturning group to learn how to turn. Thank you.
That is awesome! Thanks
Are these bowls for sale?
The larger one def reminds me of gingerbread vibes with snowy white frosting + absolutely love the white thermal crack lacing throughout the set.
🦘❤️❤️❤️
I have a new appreciation for pinecones since I've started watching you
Great! Thanks
Hi Jim, That was me putting the Designer Epoxy and Sandpaper in the older videos. I don't know that they're older videos, and just trying to get in on having a chance to win something. I'm not a winner, so I'm not holding my breath. I haven't been watching as long as your most loyal subscribers. But I did go back to your beginning to see what you have gone through, trials, failures, and how you still made something beautiful out of it. You're enthusiasm and ability to teach us from the mistakes just amaze me. I am extremely impressed!😊🎉
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
All 3 of the bowls look great -- I'm glad you left the white on. Cool appearance with the light passing through the walls (but also when the light is just on the outside). Nice job. Designer Epoxy.
Thank you! Cheers!
Really beautiful work. On Friday mornings I delay going to the shop so I can drink coffee and watch your premier. It's one of my favorite times of the week. Thanks for all your hard work.
Awesome! Thank you!
The vertical pinecones look like trees on the side of the bowl. Yet another stellar project.
They totally do, thanks!
Famous Marketing Quotes from the Early Days of Sprague Woodturning: (while first learning to use CA Glue) "And Jim leaves a little of himself in every bowl!" Fantastic work on this set, especially the "rose" that appears in all three pieces. Beautiful!!
Thank you very much!
Just when I think you couldn't make a more astounding work of art, you prove me wrong! Well done!!
Thank you very much!
What a great way to create multiple pieces. It's a beautiful set. The red is surprisingly muted. It is almost orange. The pine cones and the gold flake really make the set truly unique.
Thank you so much!
I love the rosette effect when we see the pine cones dead on! A whole bowl of those would be beautiful.
Yes it would. Thanks
Who would have thought weeping mulberry would be so beautiful!
Thank you very much!
I would love to see a pumpkin 🎃 for the Halloween/Fall season. These pieces were great. Loved how the white came through on the cracks.
Great idea!! Thanks
Awesome idea
Can you get orange looking wood?
Heck yeah, that sounds great! Just need some wood to form a hollow-form pumpkin blank, or - and I don't even know if these exist - large pumpkin gourds which are already hollowed and can be impregnated with resin using the rice/plastic bag method of filling interior space. Maybe some black/smoke-tinted resin and fairly thick yellow resin as well, to color light from one or two of those battery-powered LED tea-lights with the "flicker" effect to them. Just enough light for maximum spookiness as a table centerpiece for a halloween party. A lid turns it from seasonal decoration to function kitchen jar for packets of sweetener, teas, or anything which doesn't have to make bare surface-to-surface contact since food-safe stuff seems to be more finicky and expensive to use, in addition to being harder to find. I remember he had a video where the "food-safe" tag had been removed from the epoxy usually used for bowls, and it was thorny just trying to get an answer from the manufacturer as to what had changed, if anything, in the formulation. But food protected from contact contamination with the epoxy resin should be fine, I would think. I could see it taking a long time as a project, with cutting (I'd use hole saws and then a hand tool/die grinder with a narrow conical high-speed-steel bit) and providing the shape of the light-blocking portions of the form. Like carving a very intricate pumpkin, if that pumpkin was made out of thick, hard plastic. Obviously he's got the tools and skills to get the job done, but also -- I think I hear it mentioned from time to time -- a schedule for either routine uploads, works for clients, or both. The problem with being good at something like this is that then people expect you'll make things for them, and usually on time scales that are only reasonable after explanation and negotiation. Not that it isn't worth it in terms of income and exposure, but people who don't know how much work goes into a single piece often assume it's quick and easy if they see many videos of their production with all of the editing tricks to compress them into a digestible format.
Yeah man, a pumpkin would rock
The variety of nature’s bounty in this set is awesome! You are definitely a resin magician! ❤️
Wow, thank you!
Love how you don’t waste the centers. So many turners don’t make multiple bowls.
Thank you very much!
Just enough white left on the top. Just a light snowfall. With past snowfalls down through the cracks. The colors are gorgeous. The cones look ethereal.
Thank you so much!
What a perfect bowl set for fall! That Mulberry turned out beautifully and the white compliments the piece nicely.
Thanks so much! 😊
Absolutely stunningly Beautiful Jim. I really like the white on these bowls. Such a beautiful set of bowls you created. Thank you so kindly for sharing your wonderful talent and videos with us all ❤Take great care and keep creating and smiling 😊 So looking forward to seeing your next video.
Thank you very much!
The big bowl reminds me of all the little( big) waterfalls coming down from the sea to sky highway. This piece is amazing!!!!!
Thank you very much!
My wife commented the bowl now has a forest around it and looks really cool. Congrats on 100k subscribers and thank you for allowing us in your shop. Fingers crossed on next win!
Awesome! Thank you!
1.5k views and it’s only been up for 4 hours. And another thousand subs since last week! 🎉 So happy for you, you and your work are totally worth that and way more!! Cheers!!!!
Thank you so much!! 🥃
Beautiful as always!
Thank you! 😊
I just love the way pine cones look in resin. The deep thermal crack is also nice accent. Beautifully done, as usual.
Thank you very much!
Designer Epoxy seems to be just that! That thermal cracking really works to your advantage when filling the cracks with a contrasting color, or gold/silver, whatever. Beautiful! I love the tall pinecones, they look like a tiny forest in the side of the bowl. Each bowl seems to have a tiny panorama in it's side. Even if the gold leaf isn't readily apparent, when there's a little light coming through, the red takes on a gold sheen, I love it. Beautiful set, Jim!
Thank you very much!
The white is stunning, and the mulberry is great. An outstanding work of art sir, outstanding indeed. The cones set the piece nicely. Thank you for all your hard work, and thanks for sharing it with us.🌿 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
Thank you very much!
Very nice work
Thank you! Cheers!
OMG What an amazing trio! That mulberry? wood was spectacular! And my vote goes to the middle bowl for “looker of the year”!
Thanks so much!
What a great piece. I’m glad you left the white on the bowl and appreciate the different colours, especially the pink. 👍
Thank you very much!
Jim. This Mulberry tree never knew it could be so beautiful. Love!
Thank you very much!
Jim, I absolutely love your projects. I'm not a woodworker, but I wish I had the creative talents like you. Thanks for the great narrating.
You are very welcome, thanks!
Can nothing but repeat your own words: Awesome, awesome, awesome! A 👍 for each piece 👍👍👍
Thank you very much!
Strawberry shortcake bowls is an appropriate name for this set. The pine cones enhance the beauty of the larger one
Thank you very much!
Wow just an amazing bowl set. I like the way the fir cones end up looking like trees after they were turned.
Me too, thanks!
Slowly working my way through your videos and I always have a glance at the thumbnails to see which ones I am going to really look forward to. This one too much so much by surprise! That grain is just incredible and the white cracking is an amazing detail especially after you cored the smaller bowls. Would be amazing to see this wood with your signature peacock colours. Thanks for all you do!
Glad you like them! Thank you very much!
The white on the rims really works for these. It's really cool that even the little tray has all the features of the bowl in it.
Thank you very much!
Thanks Jim for making and sharing those videos and let us all take part in your amazing projects. Always a pleasure to see you doing your thing.
My pleasure! Thanks
I appreciate the voice over explanations you provided. They are often more extensive than ‘live’ explanations.
Thank you so much!
I think the amount of gold flecks was perfect the way it worked out. This set is gorgeous
Can’t argue that, but just a little more might of been nice too, thanks
Splendid ! The 3 branches in the 3 bowls, the cracks are nice and emphasized, the flower in the smallest bowl... great !
Thank you very much!
I dont have any of the natural God given talent you and others have. So i gues it 1 of those sayings, "those of us who can't, watch"! I find thr turning of wood, any wood work really, absolutely amazing. I'm so very happy i found your videos. They brighten the day for me. I just bake. The stuff i bake is real good, but it just a hobby.
I’m happy you are enjoying my videos! Thanks so much!
White lightening in that thermal crack! At first I was not sure about the white at first… but it works great! ESPECIALLY in the thermal cracks. The artistry of this piece is spectacular! Love the figures in that wood.
Thank you very much!
Another home run...right out of the park with designer epoxy.......and an experienced eye for composition. Thanks.
Wow, thank you!
Had a mulberry tree split in my parents yard not long ago. Wish I had been aware of your channel at that time. I also love the white fill of the thermal cracks. Really stands out. Designer Epoxy
Thank you so much!
That wood is gorgeous It has so much depth and movement.
It does. Thanks so much!
Hi Jim, big fan here-and I’m not even a wood-turner, though I have learned a lot about it from you. These are my “Zen” videos every week! This is a lovely piece-too bad about the gold leaf gathering at the top, but no matter. Congrats on your son’s nuptials.
Glad to help, thanks
All three turned out great! The middle sized one is definitely my favorite. Designer epoxy all the way!
Awesome! Thank you!
I liked the way the cracks contributed to the beauty of the turning.
Agreed, thanks!
Amazing as usual. Been watching you for a few years now. I’ve learned so much. Just got my first lathe! So excited to get started. I know that I’m not the first person you’ve inspired. But I am grateful that you have chosen to share your talent with the world.
Awesome! Thank you!
it's like a mini forest with a touch of snow in bowl form
Thank you very much!
Designer Epoxy strawberry short cake, yum!
So good! Thanks
I really enjoyed watching, the bowls turned out much different than I first imagined they would. Great job!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks
I don't know how you make your living, but, if you are not a teacher you would be a very good one. Thanks for sharing all your knowlege and experience.
Wow, thank you! As long as it’s not children, I would probably do fine! Ha ha!
Just want to say I really enjoy your work, and the fact that you explain what you're doing as you're doing it. I watch some other wood turners that never speak and I don't enjoy their videos as much as I do yours.
Thank you so much!
I loved how the resin color blended with the wood and pinecones in the final pieces.
Thank you very much!
Those all turned out very lovely, Jim! I especially love that they are British Columbia bowls. You brought all of the beauty of my province to it's fullest effect. Great job!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks
The white epoxy looks like snow on the pine cones. Love it.
Thank you very much!
Last week's piece had an aquatic feel to it, and this set looks like fire. Have you ever thought about doing a set of four themed pieces, with each piece representing one of the classical elements? It might be an interesting challenge thing, to see several wood turners to do their own takes on the concept.
Good idea, and no I haven’t. Thanks
This is the first time that I have seen your work and I am in awe of the beauty of those bowls. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks and welcome
Absolutely agree that all three of the pieces share a unique look compared to how a regular coring would turn out. Love the Crack filling color. Great piece(s), Jim!!!
Thanks so much!
I really love seeing the way these cored sets show the progression through the material. I particularly like how different the fir cones look in each of the bowls, because of how the angle changes from one to the next.
Thank you very much!
That Mulberry grain is quite interesting. Great work on this set, Jim.
Many thanks!
I have never seen Weeping Mulberry before but am in love with the look. Very Attractive set of bowls.🤠👍🏼
You and me both! Thanks
They turned out so striking, Lots of details all over to see. Designer Epoxy.
I totally agree! Thanks
wow never sasses to amaze me how some people can bring the magic out of something that was seemingly nothing thank you for your time absolutely fantastic
Wow, thank you!
11:10 at first I thought you were adding correction fluid! I was like WHOA WHOA JIM! 😮😂😂
That’s a lot of whiteout, haha. Thanks
I was a doubting Thomas but that white detail looks like snow and it is gorgeous Jim... Fantastic Job 👍👍
Thank you very much!
Very beautiful bowls. The amount of interesting detail would have me staring at each one for hours.
You and me both! Thanks
Flow and punctuation, the continuous and the discreet, harmonious colors, I get lost in this set, all three bowls are magnificent. just wow.
Thank you very much!
Designer Epoxy. Love the look with the fir cones. I am always in envy to see you start turning a big epoxy pour like this one. You make it look easy. I started into one this morning. While I was turning the bowl my wife called to get my attention. The shop man door was open, the house back door is 16 feet away. My wife thought someone was knocking on the door because of all the large chunks of resin flying through the air. I almost gave up on it. Once I got it balanced and I could turn up the speed it went a lot better. Thanks for all you do.
Great! Thank you so much!
Bowl Sets are so captivating, no lie!
Thank you very much!
just wanted to say Thank You for all the turning. Love them all.
You are so welcome!
Designer Epoxy Sandpaper This is absolutely gorgeous. And in my favorite color, too. So, of course, I LOVE it!!!
Thank you so much!
This piece looks like a forest fire. The yellow of the wood and the cones match perfect. Really love your work. ❤❤❤❤
Thank you very much!
This entire set is eye candy. I love it.
Thank you very much!
I love the mulberry, and the resin is absolutely beautiful, leaving the white on was the best choice and the douglas fir cones just look amazing. It's an amazing work of art
Awesome! Thank you!
Hi Jim, I'm glad to see that trick worked for your pour. These pieces are absolutely fantastic. Great job. We always make sure to watch your channel. We enjoy it. Thanks for sharing. Keep on turning!!
Thank you! Cheers!
OMG Jim. These three are exquisite. Thank you for doing the third one. Yes, it does make a difference! And I love how the design resin flows over the top. The collection of wood, pine cones, and resin were purrfect. Thank you.
Glad you like them! Thanks
Admittedly I know absolutely nothing about wood turning or epoxy for that matter. What I do know is the things you create are all utterly stunning! Thank you so much for the wonderful content.
Thanks for watching!
The big bowl reminds me of a forest and snow. Designer Epoxy
Thanks again!
I always love watching your videos. This is wood and resin turning at its best. I love all 3 pieces, the colours and patterns just pop. Any chance if you're short of ideas you could do a tall flower vase out of the same colours. You're right the mulberry looks ace. Keep up the good work. I look forward to your next video.
Awesome! Thank you!
Jim . . . I am loving your videos. They relax and inspire me. I have been watching these great videos for several months now. But, over the past few weeks, I have been binge-watching everything on your channel. I have watched over half of your turning videos. I dread the idea of getting caught up. Haa Haa!!! Thanks, and God Bless!!!
Wonderful! Thanks very much!
I’ve never seen this done before. It’s so cool. The big bowl looks like pine trees to me. My father used to use his lathe. When he was restoring his 1925 Chevy he had to make some new wood spokes for the wheels. I used to love watching him. He was really good at woodworking. I have a secretary desk he made for me. Not bad for an 8th grade education. He’s been gone now since 2014. He was 86 when he passed. Your work is amazing.
I’m sure he was! Thanks for watching!
I love how the pith looks like a flower. 🌸 Especially the smaller bowl. Stunning bowl set, Jim!
Thank you very much!
Every new piece you make, turns out to be the best one you ever made. I am just binge watching these videos! So clever and gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you like them! Thanks
I've been following your work for 2 or 3 years. You create such beautiful pieces! This bowl set is just gorgeous and is among my favorites of yours!
Awesome! Thank you!
I'm not usually a fan of red (in general) and mostly like the blue/green/teal/purple color schemes best, but this set is just beautiful!! I also fell in love with that white lightning going through where the thermal cracking happened. I could get lost for days just sitting and admiring all this set has to offer! Again, beautiful work. I love it.
I totally agree! Thanks
Love the way the cones came out and the white in the cracks. Nice set.
Thanks so much!
Very nice bowls, Jim. I love how you fill the thermal cracking. It creates a beautiful effect. You never have to fear thermal cracking again. 👍
Very true! Thanks
The white adds a nice touch the way it matches the crack repair. Great work!
Thank you! Cheers!
WOW!!! I haven't been able to watch much on KZhead and was happy to see how quickly your viewership has gone up. That's awesome. I love your work. I don't think you've turned out anything that wasn't top shelf gorgeous.
Welcome back! Thanks
The money bowl is just amazing i love all the elements. The color and the mulberry really go well together.
Agreed. Thank you very much!
Hey Jim, we were traveling and couldn’t get to this until now-this May be our fave! Beautiful job, mixture of colors, cones and wood-and final appearance! …we want one..we want one…WE WANT ONE👍👍😁
Awesome! Thank you!
You really caught the BC feel in this one!
Thank you very much!
Strawberry Shortcake is the perfect name for these pieces. Beautiful work. Thank you for explaining your work.
You are so welcome!
This might be my favorite so far! Love them! I’m sure someone already said this but if not, the gold leaf sinks because it’s heavier than the epoxy. Especially deep cast so it will always be at the bottom of your pours. The only way around it is to pour in layers or, I’ve made cubes or balls of it, small ones with art epoxy so it doesn’t sink, then put those in the big project. You can’t tell it’s different epoxy especially in busy projects like this. Or you can mix it in as the deep cast cures. There’s several ways to do it. Or just let it all sink! That works🙂
Good info, thanks!
Love seeing your projects each week as they inspire my next project. It’s how I start my mornings. Thank you for teaching me.
You are so welcome!
This bowl set is just beautiful Jim. Love the thermal cracking set in white and the cones in gold (at least they appear gold). It reminds me of a forest fire. Keep on turning!
Thank you kindly
(Designer Epoxy) those bowels look amazing
Thank you! Cheers!
Gives me a 70s vibe, love them!
Totally, thanks!
Always love the way the cones look after turning. Great piece!!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
