  • Holy shit, the fights with Vergil are set up the exact same as the fights with his Nelo Angelo fights in DMC1. Both have the first one where Dante loses, the second one where it ends in the characters separating, and the last ending with Dante fully victorious.

    • I do have a fondness for that scene, especially as the years have gone on, but if we are being really, that isn't top tier dialogue, and the real reason we love it is because of how cheesy it is

      @Foxcade@Foxcade6 жыл бұрын
    • I actually think he was talking to his mother in a way, not solely to Trish. the character developmeant just didnt hold up to it. If Trish was a 3 game antagonist turn sidekick with allot more dialogue and scenes ... well remember when Ash got turned to stone in the 1st pokemon movie and Pikachu trying to wake him up.... I tried to imagine something like that going on behind the scenes. Immagination fills the gaps...

  • Yes, I am aware of the audio problems with the intro, which is why I have the annotation at the start to warn people to lower their volume. KZhead won't let me fix audio issues in post, so unfortunately this is the best I can do to fix it. I'm really sorry if it caused some unpleasantness with the audio spike. :/. This is an older video where I forgot to balance the audio on the intro, which was edited together separately and has a different audio levels to everything else. My newer videos have less of these problems since I learned from it, so maybe check those out instead :)

    • For anyone who wondered why Trish was "Somehow brought back to life" as he states at 17:32, watch 18:01 - 18:05. Dante Cries. And his Tears land on Trish. Why is this important? devilmaycry.wikia.com/wiki/Orbs -> White Orbs are magical white stones consisting of the crystallized tears and spirit of demons.[9][10][11] In each game, they will revitalize some of the player's Devil Trigger as soon as they are picked up, and also count towards their Red Orbs. They can be found by defeating enemies and breaking objects, but are uncommon. And why is this important? Trish, despite being a semi-human creature, is technically a devil created by Mundus. What do you suppose a "crystallized tears and spirit of demons" that refills devil trigger (Devil Power / Magic Power) in dante, will do to an actual full blooded Devil? Heal them. His tears are basically Devil brand Energy Drink. Of course, White Orbs aren't actually IN Devil May Cry 1 I don't believe, so you have to play other games to figure this...foreshadowing I guess technically? out.

  • This is still my favorite DMC game. Something about the combat dynamics always compelled me to find the most efficient method to dispatch a certain enemy, like the demons known as Shadows. Though DMC3 had a much more refined combo and style system, I felt that some of the monsters lacked the depth to make a truly engaging combat sequence, ie. Dullahans and Soul Eaters, or chimeras and chimera seeds in DMC4; there is no fun or stylish way to destroy those enemies with a high style rank, they detract from the entire experience for me, unlike DMC1, where every single encounter is a joy to play.

    @night1952@night19525 жыл бұрын
  • I know that at first it looks like the culprit of bad platforming is the lack of a controlable camera but it's a bit more complicated. 3D platformers actually have to pull off all sort of tricks to make the gameplay enjoyable, like dropshadows (that little circular shadow under the character that has nothing to do with the correct shadow casted by them), predictable camera movement, a certain delay or tolerance so the character doesn't start falling immediatelly after leaving a platform but instead "floats" in mid air for some frames, and of course fine tuned collisions focused on a general "feel" rather than accuracy. The reason that many games from other genres feel awkward or frustrating when doing the occasional platforming segment is that the mechanics are made to suit the other needs of the game and can clash pretty badly with trying to land on floating chuncks of floor that are pretty hard to visually position in the z axis. The simplest way to aliviate this is by adding a dropshadow when necessary, keeping the camera steady or moving in a straight line, and making those shroom shaped platforms that give a better sense of depth to the player (giving a dropshadow to the moving platforms also works).

  • This was a really great video. I finished this game not too long ago and the points you elaborated on were really good in making it clear how Devil May Cry struck such a chord with me. One thing I do think I should bring up is something that felt like a lost opportunity in terms of enemy encounters. I've only completed normal mode so far so it might be different in higher difficulties, but enemy encounters seem to largely consist of multiple amounts of the same enemy, with only advanced versions of that enemy mixed in. Because of this, the game starts becoming easier and slightly monotonous as you're able to apply the same tactics for these encounters. While it does feed into the aspect of getting better at the game and honing your skills, I feel like an interesting way they could have increased the challenge was by having more mixed enemies in each fight. With this it could mean shaking up your strategies in order to account for the multiple different threats, and can lead to stuff like prioritizing which enemies to take out first and moving to more advantageous spots during a fight. This isn't by any means meant to be a criticism of your video, or even something of a major flaw of the game, it was just something that's fresh on my mind after playing it.

    @JellyMayCry@JellyMayCry7 жыл бұрын
    • Hmm, that is a pretty good point, and something I noticed a lot in DMC4 recently. Some of the other games in the series do mix up the enemies a bit, but never to a significant degree. In a way this does seem designed though, since a lot of the lesser demons have strategies that work against each other, and work make it more frustrating to fight a mix of them at the same time. Shadows are already enough of a problem without having to worrying about a couple Nobodies or Blades. The Chess battle in DMC3 is a good example of this, because each type of chess piece has a different attack pattern and it can feel a bit chaotic. Fun at times, but chaotic.

It fits perfectly, Trish resembles Bounty hunter Jane and I know Kamiya didn't involve with 3th game but Lady is the name of female android companion of the Cobra too. Anyway nice video, my firs DMC game is DMC3, I resently got first game in HD collection. Yep, it's outdated but charming as hell. All that Resident Evil atmosphere, cheesy dialogs, high action, fast gameplay, it's still awesome.

It was nice going back to play a game that came out when I was growing up. What gets me is how I never once tried DMC. Bayonetta, yes, but never DMC until DMC 5. • Hey again fox you don't have to reply but Wich franchise do you think is superior in terms of gameplay and rewards? DMC or gow? I personally think DMC because as punishing as it is I felt more like a badass playing and beating boss is in it rather than gow why is that?

    @rogueguardian@rogueguardian5 жыл бұрын
    • It's tough to equally quantify them but I personally like DMC better, as the visual aesthetics and gameplay are more engaging and the main characters are much more likeable. It's hard to have any sympathy for Kratos since he regularly murders innocent people for almost no reason other that "Its cool"

    • Foxcade I also should say I have a personal hatred for Kratos as a character while the games are fun to play I can't get that engaged because of the main character plus the qtes can get repetitive I've played the recent god of war and it's great but that doesn't change my hatred for him in the previous games Wich is why I love DMC more (Even 2) Dante has a cocky badass attitude compared to Kratos
