This song has a pretty deep story behind it. It all starts in a village north of Italy (15th-16th century). And in the village, is a small isolated castle, and in the castle, was an ugly guy. No one knows anything about the guy. This guy was so ugly, that he had to hide in the shadows. He came from a powerful family, but he was shunned away. He eventually fell in love with the gardener's daughter. The only thing that gave him joy, was gardening. But one day, a girl came to the man's garden, and stole flowers. The guy was furious and spied over his flowers at night. Then, she came back and stole some more flowers. It kept on happening for a few days, until the man got curious and in the night, he pretended to sleep. He saw the girl again, but this time, when the girl left, he covered himself with a blanket and followed. By following her, he found out that she was poor and ill and the only way for her to survive was to sell the stolen flowers. Seeing here like this, he wanted to help her out in every way. But he was too afraid that she would be scared of him. He could only keep on growing flowers. He suddenly has the idea to create a non-existent flower, that she could sell at a more expensive price. After several tries, he finally created the perfect flower. He was excited, he planted them and grew many of them. He waited for the girl, but she didn't come. No matter how long he waited, she didn't come. Then he went looking for her, but he realized what happened. He was too late. She died. Man, RM really did a number writing this, just shows how beautiful BTS' penmanship game is.

Besides the fairytale story, this song fits into the Love Yourself theme: you can't really love someone else until you love *yourself* enough to remove the mask and show the other person who you really are. TTU is from the LY Tear album, which is about broken love. Tear is followed by LY Answer, with the song, "Answer: Love Myself," one of BTS's most healing songs, which makes me cry - it's so comforting.
This is hitting different rn for me, bc while I think most people are looking forward to the day when we're no longer required to wear masks bc of Covid, I am actually terrified of that day. The song was written by Steve Aoki, RM, Slow Rabbit, and 3 others. It is based off of a story called 'La Citta di smeraldo'. It basically a story about an ugly disformed man, similar to The Hunch Back of Notre Dame. He sees a girl in the garden stealing flowers and is at first angry but then falls in love with her. But he is afraid for her to see him in the light. Steve Aoki uses it a lot in his shows and it's awesome. Not every song BTS does is about their past or how they have or are being treated. Most of the group songs are not about them at all. They have done some songs about the haters but mostly about bigger issues like self love, social injustice, bullying, etc. RM and Suga have done songs about the underground rappers calling them sell outs and not real rappers but that's about it. If you would watch a guide about BTS you would learn a lot more than trying to figure stuff out. I would suggest The Most Beautiful Life Goes On: Story Of BTS 2021 updated by Asian Theory, or This Is BTS: Introduction pt1 by Xceleste. But since I will not make a "donation" request I'm not sure when you will, if ever, see them.

Although there is a story of a man, I think they are also (figuratively) singing of their own fears as performers. It's their job to show us attractive and cool aspects of themselves but as they have confessed several times, they actually often feel very afraid whether the fans will still love them if they show their poor side, or the reality as human beings. They are also afraid of disappointing armys since sooooo many eyes are on them and haters are always ready to pick up on them with anything. This is what makes me sad whenever I listen to this song
Even lately, when they weren't sure Butter would reach #1... and were stunned at the PtoD/Butter switchoff. :sighs: I really want to tell them that however high they may feel they're flying, I don't think most of ARMY really sees them as being these out-of-reach, perfectly idealized, idol/demigods. To me, and I think to a lot of other people, they're no higher above us than just the stage, almost in arm's reach- figures of respect, yes, and admiration, but also figures of friendly amusement and relatability, not distant awe, intimidation and deference. And we're not the ones who expect perfection of them- they are!

Namjoon wrote this based on a story that happened long time ago, im not sure if it was a fairytale or true story but theres a story that inspired this song and it was sad, sad but beautiful. Its damagingly beautiful.
It was a story written by BigHit for the storyline. This is one of the few songs (Maybe only?) that is purely based on the storyline that runs through the MVs. Really cool!

The song is base on the Story of Smeraldo Flowers “la città di smeraldo story” on a small town in Italy. Its a sad story about a girl and a man with a horrible face.. To make it short the girl died and the man wasn't able to thank the girl and confess his feelings. Hence, the title, "the truth untold" it could also mean "the sincerity that couldn't be delivered"/sincerity undelivered.
The DEPTH OF ANGST in RM’s writing is ASTONISHING. There is a cry welling up inside of me, a guttural tightening, wrenching within, a throat choking gasp, an attempt to stifle the sadness, deep loss, mournful, dreadful, inescapable, horrific moments of my 62 yr old life. THIS. Oh, RM how could you capture what I feel?
I also got goosebumps when I first heard Jimin's part, he's got such a beautifully emotional voice. But my favourite part is when V sings - cholahae I'm so afraid Just WOW!

"This is emotional." Whew. You speak truth. Next to listen to...Jazz. Another emotional song by the 4 vocal legends. Find "House of Cards". It's my favorite. Jin's few lamenting lines in the song steals the show in my opinion. After hearing him sing that I was more able to identify his voice in the other songs. Then, duh, Big Hit figured out he could really sing and gave him more lead lines in other songs.
This song is amazing live. The lyrics are based on the legend of the Smeraldo flower, which is a part of the BTS Universe. The legend says that there was once an ugly man that hid himself in a castle, and his only joy in life was growing flowers. One day, a girl came to the castle and stole flowers from his garden. At first, the man was angry but the more the girl came back to steal his flowers, the more he became interested it her. One day, he left his castle and followed the girl, and saw that the girl sold the flowers she stole from the garden for a living. He felt bad for the girl and wanted to help her, but he was scared that she would judge her for his appearance, so he hid himself in his castle and spent his time creating the most beautiful flower in the world (the Smeraldo) to give to the girl so that she could gain a lot of money from it. But when he finished creating the flower, the girl was nowhere to be found for she had passed away. You could see parts of the story being told in the song, which is written in the point of view of the ugly man. I guess you could also say that this song is about one's insecurities and hesitance of loving in fear of being judged for who you are. I hope this explanation helped!

Bonus info, you can see the Smeraldo flower in the MV of Blood Sweat, &Tears. When Jin (I'm pretty sure it's Jin) is standing at the dresser looking in the mirror, you can notice a vase of flowers next to him on the left. If you look carefully you will see that the reflection is a different flower. The reflection shows the Smeraldo flower, not the white flower that is in the vase next to him. I love the intricacies of their lyrics!
@@libbyharper9293 I don't think that's the Smeraldo in BST, & not just because it's a year pre Love Yourself era. 1) I thought the ones in BST were small & purple, & 2) there's a symbolism that has to do with the colors of the flowers or type of flowers that ties into the refection not matching & the temptation theme/ Demian Story. The Smeraldo story was first introduced as part of the lead up to LY Her, and a large blue flower is first seen in the Jin promo poster for the Highlight Reel, then seen as the flowers Jin purchased in the Highlight Reel, and last are clearly shown inside the glass lamp(?) Jin is trying to protect before they turn to dust. (Edit: Upon checking the video, the flowers in the lamp are pink so they aren't the same as the blue Smeraldo flowers used for highlight reel despite the Smeraldo flowers being mentioned in the song lyrics.) Maybe there's still a connection to BST, maybe not. The theories & explanations I saw may simply differ from yours, and there's nothing wrong with that.

@@alokitaverma9100 there was a smeraldo blog being up since 2017 when love yourself started. Its being confirmed when jin uploaded his picture with flower on twitter with caption smeraldo. I think the blog is currently inactive now as love yourself era ended n Bangtan universe seem in hiatus.

This used to be my favorite song before I heard Your Eyes Tell. And there's a particular live version that's my favorite and that I hope you end up reacting to. This song includes the entire group, so I think you'd appreciate that, but I have never heard the vocal line sound as beautiful as they do in Your Eyes Tell. Their voices are incredible, and the way they go back and forth is almost too much to take. God, I love that song.

Omg, when this popped up in my notifications....... I love this song! One of my fav BTS songs. (I learned it on the piano, my first of many BTS songs I want to learn, lol.) It's based off a fictional story, you should definitely look up the meaning online. Also, definitely watch it live! The vocal line SLAYS it. Like it's so emotional, heartfelt, the ad libs are crazy amazing, and it's just so good. I honestly think the live is better than the studio version. (I feel the same with like all BTS songs, lol. They are killer live, as you well know)

Even if they perform the same song it is always different from the last one..They also write/compose/produce their own lyrics/songs..They They don’t stick to one genre and they are best when live!
