  • Great stuff, Lila! I learned the 3-point "Rembrandt" setup in film school as well. But fashion photographers and cinematographers have been using the "butterfly" setup for ages and it was a real eye-opener when I learned about that. Watch old romantic films from the 30s and 40s. The famous Marlene Deitrich portrait the was copied by Queen is an exagerad version of the butterfly setup. I've done a 'tiny' amount of fashion photography and straight-on light just above the camera is always a great choice - looks great on everybody. I also add a small bounce underneath to put a little light under the chin and neck. That's not generally practical for the average YT setup at a desk, though. Your setup looks great!

  • Obsessed with the all black walls lol! A Pro tip on glasses and reflections: Something we'll do often times is just tilt the glasses down slightly. So the backside is not sitting on your ears exactly but just slightly above, while the front is tilted down. This gets rid of all light reflection usually :)

    • @@lilafromyoutube what can i do to make my ring light softer? maybe place a light fabric on it to cover the ring and soften the light?

      @hnia0@hnia0 Жыл бұрын
    • @@hnia0 you need space between the light source and the diffusion, so placing the fabric directly on the ring won't do. As an option you can improvise a frame for the fabric to be attached to (with a hole in the fabric for the lens to go through if that's what your setup requires), then a way to rig this frame some distance in front on the ring (it can be a separate stand or some extension allowing to attach to the same stand the light ring is on or the camera tripod). The amount of diffusion will depend on the thickness of the fabric and the distance from the light. Diffusing will always take away some of the intensity of your light source, you might want to take that into account. Experiment.

  • Gizmo! I love the colours you chose for the background Lila! I'm slowly adding more lighting options to my kit, and have been saving up to get something like the 120d II or 100d since those should be powerful enough for both photo and video projects. My first Aputure light was the MC RGBWW LED. That tiny light really opened up a bunch of possibilities while in college and added pops of colour in an otherwise drab background. I'd love to grow my kit with more Aputure lights and those tube lights have been in my shopping cart for a long time. 🥰 I also love how you spoke with other female KZheadrs about lighting and included tips for glasses wearers (Mine always seem to catch reflections 😱). Keep up the amazing work and thank you for being such an inspiring person Lila!

You have a key to the right. A fill light that is softer to the left. An a backlight to give you that cinematic highlight, Wich I think she over does with where she placed her backlight

  • Hi Lila~ I stumbled upon your video! I like how you make this video easy to understand, and I feel rather inspired. I haven't actually started yet, as I'm trying to sort my room out. I'm thinking of working at the ┏ corner of my room, with me talking directly to the wall, and have space behind me just like in your video. I wonder how the face lighting setup would be in this situation, and what products would you recommend for a complete beginner with limited budget? :3
