  • Great video! I have a question about that Neewer 100W point light - how does it compare to the Godox SL series? I'm still yet to buy the main workhorse light and I considered Godox SL300 before, but this little fella seems to be much cheaper (I could basically buy 2 or 3 of them for the price of 1 Godox). So - is it enough for everyday commercial application, or it's better to invest in something stronger, like the 300W lights I previously considered? Thanks! PS: Agree about the tube lights - for me these were the real game-changer :D while it's true they're not good as the first and only light, they're irreplaceable for getting an instantly motivated light, especially as they're so easy to compose into very different scenes and scenarios. I have 3 of them and will probably get even more :D

  • Very nice video, and helpfull, thank you, but there are some minor things to mention... Panel lights will usually have less output than songle chip lights. And, the light spill from them is a lot more difficult to control. RGB lights are great but (when used in rgb mode) will have significantly less output than bi color or daylight lights. Neweer lights are great but the 70w light will have 33000 lx output only with reflector on, usually 60-79w lights have open face output of 4-5000 lx (and that is important, since that is the way you will be using them with the modifier on...). When choosing the softbox, besides factoring the size, it is wise to chose an umbrella type that opens like the, well, umbrella... setting up a non umbrella type is quite time consuming and irritating. Oh and it is also wise to get a skirt for the lantern type modifier. It cuts the light from the sides when used overhead, leaving the walls, for example, darker. Not all lanterns canbe fitted with skirt.

    • @@MrPaulXavier hey there...ok...I got it and I'm testing it. I also got the Godox. The only way to compare...one has to go back...The Neewer is a bit nicer for sure (but it comes in a weak carrying bag that won't last long)- The godox comes in a better carrying bag- but the main thing is the light output. I connected them both to AC power and they are both about the same once I added softboxes and diffusers.. but when I connected them to Sony batteries (something I will do sometimes when I don't get access to AC) I noticed that the power output in the Neewer diminished in comparison to the same setting while connected to AC- maybe the light can't give the same power with battery but I did the same test with the Godox, and I don't see the same issue-same sony batteries and the light output stays almost the same as with AC...hmm....I know large Sony batts won't last more than 30-45 min max but I would prefer if the light kept its light output the same whether AC or battery operated. Will do more tests. The Neewer is $120-150 cheaper than the Godox here in Canada

  • For Green Screens, should we use lighting that focuses just the subject, or lights that also hit the green screen? Or two lights; one for subject, one for greenscreen?

    @landbirdo@landbirdo17 күн бұрын
    • The main focus is just having the green screen be evenly lit so that the color doesn't change. For example if one half of the screen was bright and the other was dark that makes it harder for your computer to key out or replace the green screen. So however you light it that is the main focus.

  • Bout to buy your offer NOW for lighting and color correction or presets or whatevs. I am using natural light which varies from day to day. I look washed out in some film and others not so much. Even though my channel is going to focus on marketing/funnels/YT I've heard you mention real estate photos here and there. I will likely vlog my house flips on there so the audience can get a different side of me.

  • What about the variation of the panel, the flex panel? It can be taped to the wall if you can't fit a stand at all. Some have metal frames that can be bent to control spill. Both Godox and Aputure have interesting lights in this area. Curious about your thoughts on these.

    @seecraig@seecraigАй бұрын
    • Definitely super valuable tools! I've used the aperture flex panel and I think it's great.

      @MrPaulXavier@MrPaulXavierАй бұрын
  • Another useful TIP: Here is another tip for diffusing the LED panel rectangle light, you can add an umbrella holder adapter that attaches to the stand under the rectangle LED light (I found these on Amazon) then add a shoot through 26 inch white umbrella (both are low cost items). I tried this on two 10-inch (and my other 14-inch) LED panels and it works great needing only one stand per LED panel and not two stands (compared to using a round circular diffuser in front of LED). After attaching the umbrella in adapter, slightly angle the LED panel down toward the center of white translucent umbrella and it spreads across soft light. An all-on-one stand solution that can be moved around easily. Other videographers use this sometimes as an inexpensive (and mobile) solution. Or get a lantern, or softbox as suggested in the video when you have the funds.
