A Premium Adjustable Monitor Arm? | LG Ergo Stand
I prefer clean simple designs for my desk setups. And this LG Ergo Stand is definitely a step in the right direction for that minimalist aesthetic, while still being a highly flexible gas spring monitor arm.

Hopefully they would sell the stand , as a stand alone . Pun not intended 🌚
😂LOL
lmao you should do Stand-up comedy
@@teun9093 frrr
You fully intended that, admit it 😂
It's your lucky day. Head over to the Apple store. It's on sale: $999
As someone who is obsessed with ergonomics and knows the struggle, I can't tell you how much I appreciate your channel / content.
You are the main reason I love clean and minimal setups, you're the king when it comes to it
A review very well done: clear and calm voice, video focused on the product NOT on yours face, plenty of information and usefull inisght. Kudos !
Great video, man! I always enjoy your content. I splurged on the 4K model to make working from home a little bit less terrible. So glad I did. Love the arm so much!
Look at this monitor arm - it even came with a free monitor! Thanks LG!
Great demonstration and presentation, no annoying upbeat music or b-rolls. Thank you.
Thanks, David for this detailed review of the stand. I was searching for something like it.
Man, i love the esthetics of your videos so much
🤗 woo! You're making videos at a good pace. I appreciate that!
YES! A NEW VIDEO BY DAVID
I’m not even in the market for a new stand, but I’m still watching - you’re videos are relaxing 😌
Just the video I was looking for, thanks so much
I always miss your uploads for some reason, better late than never though! Thank you
Yesss!!! I am waiting your next video, David! I hope you also show off the city you live in😊
I did not even finish watching the video and I want to purchase this monitor arm. Thanks for this post and review.
Great video. I have been working on it as a UX UI designer for 6 months now. It is great. I highly suggest it.
great content and video aesthetics David!
This is an amazing product! Cool product review. :)
Damn, just started watching your videos and they are great! Awesome setups!
Wonderful job! Thanks for the video
This stand is the BEST!!! I can't believe it came with my LG 32QN880 Monitor, something I would pay a lot of money for, honestly.
How much would you pay?
Very helpful. I need my new monitor virtually touching my desk. Some mounts are NOT height adjustable at all, others only drop an inch or two and end up 5 inches UP from my desk! Thank you!
I can’t wait to pair this monitor with the new M1 Mac mini and my Mac mech keyboard. Thanks, David, for going in-depth on the ergo arm; this upload has sold me on the 32” 4K version🙂.
Did you ever get it? Thinking about getting the same one for my Mac mini.
@@ekphotography No, I'm waiting for the next-gen MX chip. Hopefully those will have more RAM options.
I wish LG would sell this stand on its own for their other monitors with similar mounting plates. I have an LG ultragear and would love this monitor arm over the large stand included with the ultragear monitors
They do for one
@@nichollback9197 Wait what? Do they sell this monitor arm by itself? I have an LG ultragear gaming monitor and would love that arm instead of the stand that comes with the ultragears

@@user-hu9ms8sq2r I wanna buy it, too. But idk where to buy.
This is great, couldn't come at a better time
Great review, SUPER useful to know the top edge max monitor height.
Very nice video David. I was searching for more details on the LG 32UN880-B 32" monitor stand and you provided the most detailed feedback and a great review. Notable in your comments, the distance the monitor arm can travel from the post (28cm or about 11 inches). I have low vision and tend to use a monitor stand that allows me to have the screen quite a ways from the post. My current stand is at about 14" extended. This is impacted by the depth of my desk so 11 inches does make it more challenging for me. You mentioned the stand is only compatible with LG monitors. Are the LG 27QN880-B 27 and LG 32UN880-B 32" monitors compatible with the Amazon Basics stand you mentioned? Would you recommend a stand that will allow me to move the screen closer to my face than the 11 inches the Ergo provides? Thanks
Another clean minimal setup.
thanks for the review! really clear and easy to understand. at the highest setting, what is the distance from the top of your desk to the bottom of the screen? really want something so my neck doesn't have to bend.
Thanks for linking that wallpaper
It's a great stand tho, pity they dont sell the stand separately :(
You can buy it from the LG spare parts shop (190€ in Germany). It will probably fit to other LG monitors as well, but I have not tested it.
@@floking88 do you have a link to this? I can’t find it
@@floking88 Hey, thank you very much for mentioning this! truly
@@piperhalliwell9742 I can't find it either. anyone has a link?

Happy diwali bro for u a Indian festival bro Love from India 🥰
I wanted one of the LG ergo stand monitors but I couldn’t put it on my table so I fitted the bracket to the wall and it’s working great :)
Do you mind sharing why it wouldn’t fit to your table? Also how did you mount it to the wall?
@@AttorneyForCats Yep certainly, the lip at the back of the table wasn't deep enough, as there was a back plate to the table, so unless I cut a hole through the plate (which I didn't want to do, then the bracket wouldn't have had enough purchase on the table.
I think this would have worked better for my setup because of my current arm slam against the wall when I adjust it. Love this channel, kinda work as a community for computer monitor arm enthusiasts!
Best Minimalist Setup under $700. Preferably a big desk and ultrawide monitor. Clean (Wireless Peripherals). Plants, etc... David make a video on this and we got you.
yes please
I'm tired of setups that the monitor itself costs more than my entire room.
yea bro, why $700 dollars tho? Ain't that weird number.
finally a good idea. The video title should be The Best Setup the your Wallet Loves
yes sir
thank u for the info 👍👍👍
Great review! How far is the bottom of the monitor at it's lowest point? Do you know how much lower a 32" monitor would be? About an in lower? Thanks.
Could you please provide more info about the clamp? My desk is 4cm thick and has a 45 degree chamfered edge. I see that the thickness is not an issue (max clamp of 90m ), but I wonder if the clamp is deep enough horizontally to clamp the desk well despite it having a chamfer. Thank you.
3:38 I'm happy to report that I have successfully modified and mounted my M1 iMac 24" monitor to this stand! The height adjustment and tilt mechanism works perfectly! The cable management keeps the cables organized, and now I shall paint it white!
Where did you find the stand? I'm trying to buy it, but seems difficult to find it individually without any monitor. I have an LG 34wn80c, but didn't come with the stand
@@joaoramos32 I got one from LG 27QN880 27" and put it on LG 38WN95C-W 38'', but the up-down tension isn't strong enough to support it :( Just so you know
How did you modify?
@@SeanAdams9 I bought Alamic Straight Brace 16 x 40 mm Straight Brackets with Screws - 12 Pack from Amazon. the length is just right. I screwed one end down into the iMac VESA mount and used a bolt and screw up into the other end of the plate. I also drilled four holes into the plastic cover so the screws could pass through and clip the plastic back on.
Just saw that LG is selling a similar ergo stand separately now for $149! EG800BB
He's back
Thanks for the review David ! Could you please specify the minimal distance that can be achieved between the bottom of the display ( in regular horizontal mode ) to the desk ? ( for the 27" version you tested )
13cm
Nice a new arm! The price. . . . . Understandable, have a good day.
This monitor looks amazing and the ergo stand is sturdy and very helpful. The display is good. Speakers are of decent quality. Works fine with my Lenovo Thinkpad fine. Major drawback of this monitor is, when I connect this monitor with my MacBook Air M1 using USB-C, the USB-A ports behind the monitor are not recognising any devices like USB headphones or wireless Keyboard or mouse (which use USB dongle.). This is a big let down. LG used to be official accessory partner for apple. This is really surprising and disappointing. The same problem is seen with other models of LG ultra fine monitors. I bought this monitor specifically for MacBook Air M1 but now I don’t have an option other than to return this. Other models like hp z27ug3 (this is not available for sale in India for retail customers.) and Lenovo P27h-20 are working fine in this scenario with MacBooks. Note that one can use bluetooth keyboard or mice or headphones to get around this problem. But you will be confined to connecting only one PC/laptop always. If you have both work and personal laptops which you use in different times, you definitely need bluetooth accessories with multi-device support which are very costly.
Rather waiting for lg to sell the arm by it self, like David said if some brand adopts the features of this and makes one will be awesome.
I'm sure people in China are way ahead of you :)
Let’s hope chineese companies see this “demand” rather soon!
Does anyone know of any options yet? I’ve been looking at the dell MSA20 single arm too and the quick release mount looks the same visually, its probably not compatible with my lg 27ul850 thought right?
@@nickymo for lg 27ul850 you would need vesa 100x100 desk mount. Try to search for "vesa 100x100 desk mount" on amazon, there are a ton of them. I personally use "VIVO" and "Mount It" brand monitor arms for my monitors. I hope this helps.
It is possible to buy the arm by itself from the LG spare parts shop, but it is quite expensive (190€ in Germany). As the mount looks like the typical LG mount, I would expect it to also fit to other LG monitors, although I have not tested it.
Can you use a "regular" vesa mount on such monitor? Or are you forced to use a clip arm like the Ergo? Is the attachment LG proprietary?
Looks clean! The only issue I have with these type arms is that it's too far forward. I opted for the wall gas arm instead.
Hey thanks for the review, really helpful :) I wondered if its possible to buy the stand itself without the monitor ? I couldn't find any site that only sells the stand... Thanks.
Hi David! I would like to get this monitor stand to use with the LG 34GP83A-B monitor. I love this stand's minimalist, yet sturdy design! Do you know if this stand would be compatible with that monitor? I could not find that info on LG's page for this stand, and am not sure how up-to-date it is
Hi David, thanks for the review. Tell me about your experience using the monitor with surface product? I want use it with a Surface Pro 8 using de USB C port.
Nice review. I wonder though how does the 1440p looks on this 27 inch monitor
Engineering student here! Looking at getting my hands on the LG Ergonomic Stand and designing/machining a universal vesa adapter plate. Hopefully I can get just the arm off of eBay or Craigslist and go from there!
Please ping me when you have them available :-)
@@johnwilliamson3164 In taking apart the monitor arm assembly, I was unable to remove the mounting plate due to a large pivoting rivet flush with the surface. It would still be possible to mount an adapter directly over this, but would be rather unsightly. Best bet would be a cnc’d plate with two sets of the four screw holes. One set for original pattern and another for vesa or desired dimension. Additionally the counterweights in the up/down arm mechanism may not hold their position with a much larger monitor. Wouldn’t be opposed to giving it another go though :)
Hurry and make one lol
I need this.
LG is missing out on huge revenue by not making this monitor arm universally available.
Hi! I am undecided between the "LG 34WN780-B" and "LG 43UN700-B" what do you think about the model "LG43UN700-B" ? and Which one do you recommend me to program and image/video editing? Thank you for your help and I wish you the best success in all you do! :)
Many Thanks for the video .is this monitor also suitable for programming and Photo editing? (4-6 hours a day)
Hi David! Thank you for the great presentation. My question is, that is it suitable for 34wk650 lg monitor? Thank you!
Great video! What is the monitor arm you are using with the Dell monitor at 04:40 ? I need that!!
Looks like a good design. If I could find something like this for my Benq 35 inch ultra wide I would (ex3501r).
Nice! Keep up the great work.
Great video: I have about 7mm between wall and desktop back. Is enough to "use" the arm support for the monitor? (i can move de desk during installation)
i like it but i suggest that LG makes a laptop (17") + monitor mount and add the gas spring on the laptop mount and redesign the swivel (on the mount) by moving it up by inches (so that the cable managment doesn't swivel when you adjust the mount)
Love it, but it doesn't seem like they sell this separately?
Here we go again!
Excellent
Many thanks for the video. Is the monitor "32" also for intensive office programs and staring at the screen for hours is well suited? (read and write) I can connect my pc and macbook pro 13 2018 and use them at the same time?
Any additional laptop arm that can go with the Ergo? or any suggested clamp arm for laptops?
Nice video, my only question it is whats about with the voice which reminds me a relaxation massage therapist
I was feeling some serious anxiety until I heard this dude narrating.
Great if you enjoy continuous "uptalk" - yuk, sounds awful.
is it possible to use ergo model in multiple screen setups like dual or triple? I have never seen some one does it so I wonder. Thanks
Thanks for your video! I just got mine with the 32" monitor, but it seems to sink vertically on its own from the highest position. Is there any way to prevent this?
These stands also have an option to drill a hole in the mounting surface. Then tighten the clamp from under it....This avoids the stupid Clamp from behind.. So you can mount these anyplace on the surface you like. Then use a second hole to route the cable sunder the table mount. This hides all the cables you would normally see.... By the way..The stand is only on Ultra Fine Monitors. So you know without looking. What type monitor it is...That is why they did that. As these higher end Monitors....
Hi David, I need some helps, I have a laptop with 2 type-c ports (thinkpad l480), and 2 monitors, one monitor had 65w pd and the other has hdmi, I want the laptop to be powered by the pd port and connect all 3 things things together with just one cable, what is the best way to do so?
So far the best video that shows it's size and arrangements. Can you please tell me minimal height with stand? Thank you
additionally, at 3:52 did you modify the inner part of the stand so you can put the monitor even lower? At least for me it seems lower at 3:53 than in the beginning of the video. Please confirm this. Kind of depends on this if I buy it or not :)
Hi David , Can you please give me the measurement of how far is the stand clamp inside the bottom of side of the table, as I have boundary on the downside of my table which is 1.75 inch till inside and 3-4 inch in height Will clamp wrap around those dimensions ??
can't it be used with other similar lg monitors such as 27UP850-W? I like the ergo stand but want the new dci-p3 friendly panel
I have the same monitor and love it but the cable management is limited. I have 2 HDMI cables, usb-c, light bar power cable, monitor power cable, audio cable, etc. running through it so it's super cramped.
How's the panel's color accuracy and image quality? Couldn't find a review anywhere.
My desk is a little bit wider than yours but it looks like you can play with the arm to extend it a little bit further.
Btw. i subscribed because I found in your video my dream monitor stand. And thaaaannnn... I got so down after finding out they do not sell it separatley.
very nice video :) I hope that you will make a video about the same monitor too :)
I was wondering if you can use this with one of the Dell Monitors... Specifically, the Dell U2723QE monitor.
Is the monitor (27QN880-B) that comes with this arm VESA compatible? Just in case I want to use the monitor with a dual arm in the future.
Hi Mate, where can find and purchase the LG EG800BB stand. No one sells it in Australia and LG customer care are hopeless in providing any directions or advise. Any help appreciated.
How long is the clamp for under the desk? Ive got about an inch because there is a back to the desk.
Can you suggest me a VESA monitor arm that can adjust up and down exactly like this one ? Thank you
Dell please release a stand like this and support up to 38” displays.
What stand/mount do you recommend for CURVED 32” monitors??
What about comparison with Ergotron?
yo make a budget setup that's actually good
What stand do you recommend if someone's desk can only accept a Grommet mount instead ?
Are there ANY monitor stands that allow the monitor to go lower not higher? or is it inconcebible?
Did you swap out your LG CX as your main display and if so why? ^^
Just as a quick inquiry - what are the dimensions of the desk mounting - asking cause my desk already has a few "holes" for cable management that I potentially could utilise if the desk mounting kit fits through those holes. Otherwise, due to no other access to the egde at current workspace, I might need to go with the "permanent" screw mount... which I'd rather not ;)
It comes with a “grommet” - few reviews bother to mention this alternative for existing holes in desks. Maybe it’s a 2022 thing. You remove the clamp assembly, replace with the flat, square plate on the bottom side of the hole and use the same screw as for the clamp to tighten from below. The pole plate and the grommet make a hole sandwich.
how deep is your desk? and how long does the arm go forward?
Anyone found a way to buy the LG Ergo arm / stand only? I have another LG Monitor that would be compatible with this but impossible to find it online on my side.
I would love to be able to buy this stand alone for my LG 27GL850 which is a gaming monitor that has the same back 100x100 "vesa" mount. The default stand is very nice in term of pivot (rotation) and tilt but lack swivel and very low elevation to the level of my eyes. So I buy an third party monitor arm with good enough of all the previous mentionned specification but the one thing I don't have is the ability to take the monitor closer to me with the right level of elevation and tilt at the same time. LG please: let us buy this stand! Other manufacturer: Please copy this stand with a built-in USB Hub like the Artic Gen3! Thank you.
You actually can buy this stand by itself on LG's official online store! I just bought it to confirm!
Can it replace the stock monitor stand in LG Ultrafine 5K? I like the monitor itself, but stand supplied with it is terrible - it's wobbling and monitor is shaking when im typing on the keyboard
I like the mobility of this arm, but prefer an asymmetrical look where the monitor can be centered, but the arm is further towards one side of the desk. This arm's straight center column just looks to much like a stand to me.
Hi, couldn’t help but notice this comment... this is actually how I’ve set mine up. My arm is on the right but monitor is still centered with my desk. It’s just a matter of how you decide to set it up at your desk!
Same here. I've been trying to find a good $100-ish arm for a 34-inch DELL ultrawide for ages now, but since I live in Denmark, there are just no good options. If you or anyone else here has good recommendations, I'd be really, really happy (and kinda surprised, tbh) :)
@@elnahir Hi. I’d recommend Ergotron. I got 2 of these for my Dell monitors (in the UK). This is just a sample link from a quick Google: www.amazon.com/LX-Desk-Mount-LCD-Arm/dp/B00358RIRC They have a range so check out the weight of monitor supported, dual monitor setups, etc.
