Guys here is my reaction on the video published by Trevor Jacob. I personally think that it was planned. FAA and NTSB are investigating the case now. I just hope that no one would do the same or similar trick again. That is very dangerous!

  • This is an emergency revocation, to immediately prevent him from piloting an airplane. This isn’t the FAA’s final disposition of the case-there could be additional fines. However, the FAA can’t do much more than impose civil penalties. Any criminal prosecution is up to police agencies in the relevant jurisdictions. This could be federal (the crash occurred on Federal land in the National Forest System) or state or county authorities that go after him. Edit: That said, even if he isn’t criminally prosecuted, I don’t think Trevor Jacob will survive his own idiocy for very long. He shows terrible judgement and poor impulse control. He can plan, but he doesn’t really think things through. Sooner or later, reality is going to give him a good hard fatal kick in the nuts.

  • Hi Pilot, I believe that this story will end in some courtroom, however this pilot who will most likely lose his patent with his gesture (assuming that he did it on purpose to simulate the engine stopping) opened a probable discussion to the about, because if it had been a real emergency, with the classic Mayday Mayday Mayday and had decided to launch because a possible landing attempt in a location with many mountains would have had an unfortunate outcome for the pilot, perhaps it would not have been punishable.

From the “spiritual” language that he sometimes uses, I’m pretty sure he’s been in a drug rehab and/or spent time in Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous or some other 12-step organization. He has poor judgement, poor impulse control, and even though he can make a plan and execute it, he doesn’t really think things through or consider consequences. I’d say there’s a high probability that he will kill himself doing something stupid. He’s basically the type who would try to set a world record playing Russian Roulette.

    • It was an emergency revocation to immediately stop him from piloting an aircraft. The FAA has not made a final disposition of the case. There might be additional fines (the only ones mentioned are for not surrendering his license to the FAA). I am not sure whether or not they can enact a ban against him for longer than a year. In an egregious and willful case like this, he’s been flagged as a hazard. The PPL is a privilege and the FAA can deny him that privilege if and when he reapplies. I’m not extremely worried he will be flying again a year from now. I think it’s probable that Trevor Jacob kills himself accidentally, doing something else incredibly stupid and dangerous, before he ever gets a pilot license again.

  • I have to admit, I’m astonished that anyone would purposely jump out of a perfectly good plane and parachute down to leave the plane without a pilot to just crash. It’s something that would have never occurred to me to do if I were a pilot. It’s completely reckless and that abandoned plane could have crashed into buildings and kill several people on the ground. But aside from that, even the smallest ultra light plane is very expensive to have and maintain. It just boggles the mind.

    • @@johncoops6897 I’ve read a few articles on the story, and the brief bio on Trevor Jacob. The aircraft was described by those at its home field as being in need of significant maintenance. Sounds to me like he didn’t want to pay for the potentially expensive maintenance that’d be required for maintaining airworthiness, used the condition of the aircraft as some type of false-pretext for needing to jump out and parachute “to safety”. Any sane pilot knows there a series of actions, from declaring an emergency, to engine restart procedures, including identifying potential landing sites, that you’d expect him to have attempted, and to have have notified ATC about. In civil and commercial aviation, just bailing out of an airplane is not on the list of prescribed actions due to an engine failure at cruise altitude (I can’t even believe I just wrote that sentence in reference to a real event). I also know, from having skydived, that his claim of wearing a parachute every time he flew, is totally absurd. I don’t know much about the vintage Taylorcraft he was piloting, but I do know that from the left seat of Cessna 172, to the flight deck of the A320 family, wearing a parachute while flying is impractically uncomfortable and silly. The only place pilots fly around strapped with a parachute, is as part of the ejection seat systems in military aircraft. All told, I think the FAA has it right: he’s an attention seeking idiot who pulled a reckless stunt for publicity.

    • @@smakfu1375 He apparently bought the plane to crash it. He bought it, immediately removed the good engine (which still had many hours before rebuild) and installed a different one. • Trevor is on his channel laughing at everybody for watching his video. He thinks it's funny. He thinks his followers are fools for watching him.

  • He did nothing illegal so what should he go to jail for 🤷🏻‍♂️ He did not endanger anybody and when I want to crash my plane I crash my plane .. period. When the Discovery Channel crashed Boeing 727 in 2012 all the world was cheering 🙈

    • there is a big difference. Discovery did all without risks to people, area was secured. Trevor Jacob put in potential danger many residents in houses and camps... He deserves the punishment...

    • Dude? To do this to an honest and innocent aircraft 100% exposes that idiot (does not deserve the title of pilot) as someone who is Morally and Ethically bankrupt. Absolutely he needs to experience some kind of severe punishment. What he did and HOW he did it and why he did it is not ok. Discovery's situation was VERY different on plenty of levels...obviously.
