Watch this video if you want to know what it's like to fly on EMIRATES in BUSINESS CLASS on their iconic double decker Airbus A380. There really is nothing quite like experiencing the near silent take off roll as the A380 lifts off into the sky. Join me for this trip report to see what it's like to fly on the plane I like to call, the Whale Bird.

This is NOT a promotional video. I pay for all of my flights and hotels (and I always tell you how much!) so I can be as honest and impartial as possible. I do not receive any special treatment that wouldn’t otherwise be publicly accessible, in fact, the hotels and airlines have no idea about my visit and that's the way I like it!

  • When I flew on the A380 Business Class last time, I made it a point to board on the main deck and make my way up the staircase rather than board from the upper deck gangway. Felt REALLY GOOD climbing those steps. My seat was a window seat 23A with the mini bar next to the aisle. It was a very enclosed and private seat. I returned on 24G. No privacy from the aisle, but definitely a good seat. THE PROBLEM with Emirates however is you can't guarantee your seating - especially if flying with a partner. You don't know if you'll be able to get seats together at all. The WORST SEATS are the ones near the galley. You'll want at least 1 to 2 rows between you and the galley/bar areas because they get quite busy.

  • Love this "whale bird " and have been lucky enough to fly in BC out to NZ. to get off that plane after a solid nights sleep was bliss.Agree with you on how quiet it is on take off and landing cosidering the tonnage that its carrying. The service from the crew on all journeys was on point as was the food. Those warm nuts with the champagne and the mezza plate was delicious. All wines I sampled were superb. The only disappointment for me was the BC lounge in DXB - massively busy - in hindsight maybe i was unlucky but if those big birds come in all at similar times....the result is massive lines at the restos which I didn't expect. Will continue flying Emirates as Im racking up points but when i flew SingAir to South East Asia earlier year they were pretty impressive too.Just discovered your channel...Im in scrolling mode . • I find EVA Air's dreamliner seats to be the most comfortable in economy class, closely followed by EK due to its spacious A380 cabin and incomparably better entertainment. However, during a recent flight with EK, I encountered an issue where my seat didn't stay reclined as it should. It would move with me if I didn't apply constant pressure, and could slide back upright. The crew took a look, disassembling my seat in the blink of an eye, but they couldn't resolve the problem in the air, and showed me the only other seat empty on board, a middle seat towards the back. Instead of moving, I tried playing around with the button, gave up and managed to sleep, but I felt a bit let down that the crew didn't offer any compensation or apology for the inconvenience, especially since the seat and seatback started sliding apart at the joint of the structure, exposing an inch of the metal which I noticed after landing. Would you think like me or is this an overreaction?

I hope you will visit Dhaka, Bangladesh next year when the new terminal opens and perhaps try Biman Bangladesh Airlines. • The A350, 787, 777x and 777 are basically the future of air travel. Twin jets with long range. Singapore and Philippines airlines for example operate A350 ULR (ultra long range) which can fly up to 1000 KM further than the A380. The real kicker however is that the A350 can land in places the A380 can't. This means nonstop flights from international airports to just about anywhere.
