  • Here is what was written on his plaque. Isaiah Bradley Isaiah Bradley is an American hero whose name went unknown for too long. Isaiah was one of a dozen African-American soldiers who were recruited against their will and without consent for participation in human testing in pursuit of the Super Soldier Serum. Most did not survive. The few who lived through testing were sent on secret missions during the Korean War. During the conflict, against all odds, Isaiah Bradley rescued his fellow soldiers and 28 other POWS from behind enemy lines. However, fearful of the ramifications of Black Super Soldier, some individuals within the government tried to erase Isaiah's story from history. His family was issued a falsified death certificate and for decades the truth of his unflinching bravery was buried.

    • My brother and I when we first watched "The Falcon And The Winter Soldier," it appeared as if Marvel Studios were working on another typical "Odd Couple" type of hero partnership between them. After Isaiah threw that small metal container into the wall, we both jumped and looked at each other after that scene. And we said, whoa! A black super soldier! At first, it was initially confusing to understand what Isaiah meant after he mentioned that he whooped Bucky's ass. And after it was shown that he was super strong, that scene was chilling. Especially all of the bad things that Isaiah went through. The "Get Out Of My House" made both of us cringe. Amazing scene. To date, TFATWS is my most favorite Disney + series to date. We both said, Disney and Marvel are pulling all the stops on displaying in depth the evils of racism.

  • What really upsets me is when people turn off their TVs because Marvel's "going political". All the MCU is doing is putting the stories and beliefs of Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko on the big screen. These men used their creativity to entertain people as well as use these stories and characters in order to show the world's problems in a fun and creative way. You can't be a Marvel fan and get mad because the creators believe that racism exists in this world and choose to speak out against it in their own way.

I get that for some people, things like racism and politics are sensitive topics; but, they're the elephants in the room. They exist, yet no one wants to speak on it. I'm not at all saying Marvel is "woke" like some people accuse it to be, but to have it to be grounded in the reality that there are people who live like this speaks volumes. Sam Wilson is a completely different Captain America from Steve and while I like Steve as a person more, Sam has a new place in my heart as Cap. He fights for his community and struggles with real-world problems like Spider-Man, but also is an Avenger who carries on Steve's ideals in selflessness, compassion, and his ability to lead

  • Alright whipper-snappers, listen up. When Sam/Falcon was introduced in the 70s, the whole point of the character was to introduce discussions about racism into Captain America comic books. That's why Sam in the comic books is a social worker (more opportunities to talk about systemic racism). Sam even corrected Steve on micro-aggressions way before that term was in wide use. Anyway, Sam was not the first black superhero, but he was the first black superhero I read as a child in the 1970s, so he will always have a special place in my heart and Sam is my favorite version of Captain America. It really warms my heart to know that the MCU version of this character is finally being used for the original story function of the character: to talk about racism in Captain America stories. The fact that they brought Isaiah into it shows that they are serious about this. And they didn't just introduce Isaiah, but also his grandson Eli (Patriot of the Young Avengers). The only black version of Captain America missing now is Danielle Cage from the future.

I looked up on how Marvel Comics came up with the idea of an black Captain America, and I learned that the character was inspired from the idea of a character being a metaphor of America itself, a character that symbolizes the dark side of the Tuskegee Study between 1932 and 1972, which offered black men free heath care, when in reality, it was not health care they got. Does this sound familiar? History repeats itself, fam. It's important to remember history's good, bad and ugly sides.

  • I gotta vent a little. The scene made me sick to my stomach, mixed emotions back and forth because it is all true but mostly feeling heart broken and disappointed, and I'm sure I am not alone with that thought, many of us probably shared the same reactions as the folks in the vid above, because it's the sad, harsh reality about this country. What makes me even more sick though, is the fact that when folks started talking about episode 2, some people unhesitatingly went to Social Media to complain and comment negative remarks about another TV show they "lost respect for because it got Political", and continue to say "keep politics out of shows and sports,". I've simply accepted that those type of people will never change, and if you're reading this and you so happen to come across people that share this mindset that human life and human equality are "Political" please call them out on their hypocrisy, their privilege that they're aware of, and of course their racism. Because Human Life and Equality has never been political, and they know that, they just need an excuse.

People who say “Keep politics out of comics!” might as well have a giant neon tattoo on their forehead that says “I’m the dumbest fan in all of fandom.” First issue of Captain America has him punching Hitler on the cover MONTHS before the US got into WWII. X-Men were created from the beginning as an allegory for race relations in America. There has never been a time nor title in Marvel Comics history that hasn’t dealt with social issues in some way, shape, or form... and anybody that doesn’t get that would probably be better served by just watching pro-wrestling instead,

They fear to be called out racist so instead of saying don't talk about race they call it "political" to make themselves feel better and intelligent. Captain America the first movie and the winter soldier movie were actually political about how the government abuses its Power and there were no outrage about it being political. • @@too2great8 No, not that we've been shown. It's not impossible that such experiments happened prior to Steve becoming Cap, but if so we've not seen or heard about them in the comics. The experiments that Isaiah was part of took place after Steve became Cap. Steve became Cap in 1940, and the Camp Cathcart soldiers were all experimented on in 1942.

I hate that people are getting the timeline wrong too...isaiah was experimented on first and the perfected formula was used on steve.....idk if people see it, but they are also introducing the young avengers in each Marvel show so far.....wiccan and speed...now patriot, soon hawkeyes daughter......might see a different version of kang in the loki show.

  • The KZhead channel DVD Overlord did a piece about this, and claimed that over 80% of the audience dropped out of watching the show when The Falcon was confronted by the police. I have no idea if their story is true, or not, but they sure were committed to wanting fans to be upset that "Marvel has gone woke". Imagine that. There are people out there who want you to be angry that Marvel has the balls to address a real life issue. Let's forget that these are probably the same "fans" who complain when something "unrealistic" happens in their superhero show. It just really makes me sad that so many people want racial discrimination to be IGNORED. You should be ANGRY... not because it's a real thing, but because it's being acknowledged. THANK YOU, Marvel! Shove it in their faces. Hold that mirror up, and let them know that they can't escape their ugly reflections even in a comic book show! That's AWESOME!
