    • Speed is power which is mass times acceleration. If a feather hit you going a 1000 miles per second you're guaranteed to feel it. Bruce Lee had speed that was incredible which gave even his one inch punch tremendous power. He couldn't have that speed without proper alignment which someone critized Bruce for not showing it in videos they saw him. It's nonsense.

  • I saw Bruce Lee in person in 1968 Wash. DC do a 20 minute demonstration of his skills at a Jhoon Rhee National Karate championship featuring Joe Lewis. Bruce was a guest of Jhoon Rhee and honorary judge. His hand speed and accuracy was something to see in person and his one inch and 5 inch punch he demonstrated showed the incredible power he could create in an instant. Joe Lewis said Bruce hit like a heavyweight and he should know. He said Bruce had tagged him a couple times when they sparred. Bruce did not believe in rules or refs. so he did not compete in tournaments. Back then most Americans had very little knowledge of martial arts and Bruce was in a class by himself according to those who know. I just turned 80 years old last month but I will never forget the day I saw Bruce Lee. He is still a legend today 50 yrs. later.

      @greer2402@greer240220 күн бұрын
    • Indeed. I don’t think Bruce could beat anyone. But a man his size? Probably easily. Bruce wasn’t a big man what was he 130 pounds? But he was ultimate ripped level in his prime. But a beast like Mike Tyson? I don’t know. He would not feel his kicks and punches and just cancel him. I don’t know. That’s no disrespect but size does matter. Like Iron Mike and big dudes like him could just charge him and hulk smash. But if he was their size? Different story entirely. Again, obviously, no disrespect he would destroy me in a fight and I’m bigger than him. Only chance I would have it cover my head and charge and try my best to get him on the ground and use my size and weight. And I don’t know how to fight even if I did that would be what I would do and I bet I would still lose. he was an animal destroyer and it would have been cool to see him fight professionally. Also nobody in Hollywood or sports back then was as ripped as he was. Even body builders weren’t as ripped. Sure he was skinny but just ridiculous he was like 1% body fat, which is extremely unhealthy but that’s hard core diesel.

Anderson Silva has also repeatedly said he used Bruce Lee's techniques and even said they saved his life in the octagon. So unless you're a better fighter than GSP or Anderson, you can't really talk crap about Bruce Lee's fighting style!

  • I think I remember seeing an interview of the guys who made the TV series Kung Fu, and they said originally they had intended Bruce Lee to play the lead role. But he came in and, not so much auditioned as just gave them a demonstration of a 15 minute barrage of speed and power moves flying around the room attacking objects to wow them. It actually scared the crap out of everyone and they decided to not give him the job because they thought over the course of filming a whole season he might actually kill someone. They were like, ehhh this is just a tv show, and that guy's an actual real live killing machine, lets not play with fire here. I get it, but oh man we could have had Kung Fu with Bruce in it, shot on film for all time. Thousands of hours of footage. Ugh.

  • It’s pretty fair to say Bruce was a genuine freak of nature, and a prodigious talent in self defence. What i believe is that he would not do as well as some say as a ring competitor and would probably notch up a few KO losses, a champ maybe but nothing hugely remarkable in conventional and heavily restricted competition. The reason I say that is because he trained to injure people BEYOND the rules of any competitive ring sport at the time. Bruce would’ve been like a Lion let loose without any teeth or claws in that era. Only todays MMA resembles the JKD that he promoted and taught. I believe he could’ve been a feared MMA champion gladiator and grail coach. He basically trained himself and others to take lives if a ‘no way out’ situation unfolded. The next best thing was to choreograph all that work for the entertainment industry- the movies.
