I Work at a software company. This bug tracking BS is so annoying. “Working as designed” - close bug. “Unable to replicate” - close bug “Out of scope” - close bug “Adding to future development” - close bug “Problem is understood, but fix will take time, so closing bug so we don’t get dinged on our SLA because that’s literally all that upper management cares about, and we can’t gave a column on a report go red or people will loose their heads” - close bug I hate that clear bugs are completely ignored all because the ROI isnt “justified” enough. Gotta keep growing the platform. Gotta keep growing! Manager: we need to give our customers a great experience. Engineer: okay let’s fix some of the annoying bugs that give a bad experience. Manager: no, not like that!

Except this doesn't seem to be a bug. Comments containing some specific words are removed without notifying you. If you knew your comment was removed, people would complain about it much more and they don't want that. Stuff like what Louis Rossman promotes (including the yt platform we can't say the name of) are included.

They actually removed annotations because they didn't work well on mobile. Which is just as good a reason as no reason.
The real reason is that youtube hates their creators even more than toddlers hate the green slop that is fed to them in movies
This explains the many many times I have seen the icon where it looks like a KZheadr has replied to some comment, but when I look at the replies, there is nothing there.
That also happens to me in multiple channels, but at least in this video I cannot see neither a pinned comment nor replies from Ray

Normal commenters are also having similar issues constantly. I regularly post a comment, only for it to be hidden/removed a minute later. It's been an issue for years apparently, but there's no way to hold google accountable.
True, I had this issue for years and often see other comments like "I've written this long comment, it got removed, I've written a tl:dr, it got removed as well" So goddamn annoying. And to think we used to be able to post links even back in the days. Now, it just removes comments for no apparent reason.

And the most infuriating part is that their "help centre" tells you that your comments are removed for breaking ToS. Are you sure, guys? Is the phrase "great vid" a slur now??

Its crazy that your own comments qith links to your own videos are shadow banned, but random comments saying "This is the video you're looking for" or "Part 2:" with a link to a video don't get removed
I think it's strange that they would close your ticket without resolving the issue with the idea that "it will be fixed in the future somehow". It reads to me as that they cannot reproduce the issue at the moment and are marking it as "invalid" until more complaints arrive and/or find it not important enough to fix to begin with. They state that they don't have time for resolution, which makes it clear that they don't feel the need to investigate further. It doesn't help that they contradict themselves in the sentence before ("Rest assured, we're actively addressing your concern"), which is a straight up a blatant lie because they can't be addressing the issue if they don't put in the time. TL;DR: KZhead support simply wants you to stop bothering them unfortunately.

Amendment: I interpreted the sentence "However, we have no time for resolution" as them not having time to resolve the issue, but I realized that they may be referring to the fact that they cannot give a time when the issue will be resolved. Both interpretations are valid and my point still stands. I still feel it's weird for them to outright close the correspondence if the issue isn't resolved. If they feel like they have enough information, they should mention that before closing as a reason to stop sending emails back and forth.
Whoever wrote that email is fully doing their job incorrectly. You don't mark something as resolved when all you are doing is sweeping it under the rug, I'm furious

My guess is it's the links. KZhead hates comments with links in them because of all the scammers on the platform. I would try reposting the build materials without any links to your discord or patreon to see if that fixes the issue. Basically every comment I've ever made with a link has gotten taken down no matter where the link is to.
That's certainly *a* problem, but not the only one. I've had many posts without any links be shadowed and I still haven't found an answer. Sometimes they'll magically show up a few hours later, and sometimes they'll never show up even though I can see them while logged in. I don't even know if you'll see this or if it'll be publicly visible unless you reply in some way, and even then I might not know unless I come back to check because they often don't send notifications despite me setting it to always send them.

A bug? It's been happening for at least 5 years (when I started to notice it)

It's best to follow people through their website instead of KZhead, as KZhead has shadow8banned, warned, and often times, censor those with hate speech and very restrictive rules that, in my personal opinion, this is balony at best.

The issue might be related to KZhead's restricted mode, it also caused problems in the German KZhead scene as it blocks videos for people without telling the creator in any way and is on by default for some users
I am convinced the issue of when the "x replies" button below a comment shows higher amount than the comments actually under it, is the same type of comment hiding. A higher amount of "x comments" below the description than the actual amount of comments might be too. I just lost the will to do longer comments after a while because of it. and just talking about comment removal can make your comment removed. Thats why I'm copying this comment into my notes to repost it if its removed.
Besides, youtube has such a huge amount of bugs, like the playlist search feature went missing for a couple of years, probably because of an exploit allowing a ton of videos that shouldnt be on youtube. And they didn't bother fixing it so they just removed the feature altogether. Or for how long youtube shorts had a bug where you scrolled to the next video and the previous one was still playing, again for years. Or how long the yt shorts scroll animations were until recently when they just wasted third the browsing time. The list goes on so if you wanna just omit all that just use an app like grayjay or newpipe. I've seen some pc alternatives but i usually prefer an android emulator with one of those two.

Now that I'm trying out the removed comments, on my actual account my both replies here seem removed but on a tor window without logging in those comments seem both to still be there. I am totally lost.
I hate KZhead’s automatic comment removal. And from my experience it doesn’t even notify you when it eventually removes one of your comments Ps your comment survived!

This is ridiculous, you basically can’t communicate with individual viewers at all and the only thing KZhead does is just give a nonanswer after a year of waiting. I wish there was more you could do to pressure KZhead into actually doing something for a change
🤔Reading down, seems there was a pinned comment, but many, including me, can't see it. Not seeing any replies from Ray was mentioned a time or two as well. I can see likes from him on some comments, including this one, but I don't see replies anywhere. I wonder if the people he has replied to can see them. 🧐I am logged in via a desktop browser (🦁) with a 'customized' experience of the platform and the internet at large, including certain 'roadblocks' (🥸🐾) to the transfer of certain data from my system to certain servers. Hope that's about as clear as an umbral occlusion. 😅

Oh great, a problem with youtube I was unaware of. I thought this video was going to be about KZhead's dumb search engine that shows one relevant search result, and then a bunch of unrelated shorts, and 'you might also be interested in' and 'people also watched' crap. Gone are the days when youtube was a viable resource for anything.
What's also interesting is that this has happened to some of my own comments as well, and a few of some others comments. So it's a youtube wide bug, not just one person...
Maybe KZhead is shadowbanning you on your own channel? I've seen it happen before that sometimes after posting a comment, nobody can see it (logged-in or not). They're definitely doing it in some capacity but maybe it bugs out and can also hide comments when they're posted on your own videos, which would be weird but not impossible.
The KZhead comment section is riddled with bugs in general. The number of replies (and likes) is often wrong, comments and replies often get duplicated, comments sometimes just appear blank, when a comment is supposed to have a "read more" button it often just shows three dots and the "read more" button doesn't exist, emails about people replying to you are really inconsistent, pressing "show more replies" often just duplicates the replies that were already shown, etc. I swear the comment section gets buggier every week. Not really a bug, but this still really annoys me: Ever since youtube shows handles instead of usernames for comments, old reply chains are really hard to keep track of, because they used usernames when replying, so you have to click on the channels to see their usernames instead of handles.
I think the shadowbanning might be true tbh. It does not shadow ban all comments but some of it. I have experience of my replies not being visible when I was talking about conspiracy theories.
Yeah this instantly made me think of being shadowbanned. I've seen it happen on other platforms before but had no idea it could happen on KZhead to a creator of all people.

This odd shadow banning of comments is truly annoying. Not just pinned etc... Just in general. And especially comments not containing anything problematic. And it is also happening in app and has nothing to do with browsers or anything but KZhead being KZhead.
It's not a bug, but a feature! It's automoderation* which just constantly misfires. If you mention something controversial, use several languages, write an unusual comment or even name their competition, your comment will be hidden. The exact behavior has been evolving slightly, but typically such comments can only be seen by whoever posted them _or_ when viewed from a direct link _or_ after sorting all the comments "from newest" and scrolling down until you find it.

100% AI moderation on youtube makes discussions really hard. many of my comments are gone just because it gets too deep into acronyms (which is common when talking about hardware and microcontrollers)
KZhead just sucks… period. The only way we’re gonna have any effect is by stopping them from getting money from such a garbage system. Unfortunately, that’s nearly impossible since Adblock also affects the creator. Good luck man I hope you can weather the storm.
The comment section has been broken for years. The count of the number of comments usually doesn't match the number of actual comments. For example you sometimes see "10 comments" but only 2-3 shows up.
I always assumed those were botted comments removed by auto moderation.

It isn't the exact same scenario, but I work IT for several school districts. Closing a ticket / case without it being fixed is INSANE to me. The Ticket / case is there for a reason, to know its still happening and update the status of it when these engineers get it working or at least progress towards fixing it. This is terrible support on KZhead's end.
I recently commented on a KZhead video and got thousands of likes. It was the top comment on the video. Suddenly, I abruptly stopped getting replies and likes one day. If I logged out of my account and looked for it, it was no longer anywhere in the top comments (I scrolled through them all), but every other comment was. However, if I sorted by newest comment and scrolled all the way to near the bottom, it was there! I have no clue why this happens, but a few days later, it suddenly popped back up in the top comments and started getting likes again. Weird.
This happens to me sometimes too. I post a comment and when I sort by newest, it's gone. Often because I put a link in.
Even worse, if YOU sort by newest, you could see it, but if you check from a different account it's not there

That's the problem with big tech companies. They're doing absolutely anything they fucking want for whatever reason, and there is no any solution except abondoning them completely. Which will probably never happen due to the ways the internet work. Need to remove dislikes for sweet money? Done. Big boss wants artificial delay for some users? Don't mind me, it's done. Even if you don't like something, you're still using it, cause alternatives are worse due to the lack of users, and these alternatives will lack users, because there is not enough users. It's a closed loop.
This is why we need platforms that are opposition to YT, like Odyse* (I can't say the whole thing cause YT)
part of the problem is KZhead is barely profitable, if it is at all. Google's just big enough and gains enough to make it worth it. You'd need a huge dump of money to even get 10% of what youtube does for bandwidth, let alone storage

The site is riddled with weird comment bugs for a few years already, from one day to the next everything went to shit. I see your current pinned comment. My comments sometimes randomly disappear too, usually before the first minute, but also directly after a minute passed. I've also noticed that after I replied to somebody I'm now hooked into that thread and I'll only be notified about some comments, regardless of to who in the thread the comment was directed to. I also noticed a different bug. I get weird lagspikes while I'm typing a comment, but not when I just rattled the keyboard with random characters, only when I type actual words. This must be some kind of web-based telemetry going haywire and I suspect the same goes for all those comment-related bugs.
Aaaand the pinned comment is gone. Really sad situation.

I had a similar issue, when doing a giveaway on hypixel skyblock there were many comments neither me nor anyone could see. Understandably a lot of people got mad considering that they joined the giveaway by commenting their ign, but I couldn't do anything about it. Very annoying indeed.
That happend to me 2 years ago. I was collabing with someone threw there comments, they even responded and after i was done with the video they claimed i never got the collaboration approvemend, so i had to do a debunk video showing that i did got approved. After that the collaboration went smoothly.
I've experienced the same thing, but in a livestream instead where my friend was sending messages in the live chat and I could only see some of them.
To circumvent the issue as of right now, you might be able to put all the materials in a pastebin or something similar, and put the link for that in the description. Hopefully this video can get as much attention so that KZhead will actually attempt to fix this bug, but that's probably not happening given how they handle bug reports.

A similar thing happened a few days ago, I asked what a certain song was. I got a notification with Ray's reply but when I looked at the comment there was nothing. I even replied myself and the comment disappeared
Shadowbanning should be outright illegal
I would love it if the comments section could be filtered by pinned comments, the video uploader's comments, the comments of people you subscribe to, and the comments you made. That would make things easier to find when there are hundreds or thousands of comments for a single video.

Other than your browser's cache etc. being outdated (or its antonym (like the cache is ahead of time and the server isn't caught up)), this issue hardly make sense from a programming perspective. The only thing I can think of is for some reason being logged out means they retrieve data from other data centres, which are not synced. Incredible that KZhead managed to create bugs that are difficult to do even deliberately lmao
So it's not just me having problems, but content creators too, and on your own videos. I've been assuming that it's due to filter settings being turned on by individual channels as certain channels will always disappear my channels while others will leave them visible. And at first I thought it might be a subscription issue, but on multiple channels that I wasn't subscribed to it still showed my comments on some and hid on others. I even played with likes and dislikes and it doesn't seem to make a difference. Check your comment filtering settings on your channel settings page, and if anything is set to filter then we have our answer. Otherwise, it's just KZhead failing to implement a successful gaslighting algorithm for people they wish to silently silence.

I've seen replies both to my own comment and replies I've made to other peoples comments disappear. I would have to switch to newest first to be able to actually see the reply, and now sometimes the replies just disappear entirely. I noticed this starting a good year ago now and it seems KZhead is, as per usual, dragging their feet on fixing the issue. KZhead really needs some proper competition because these bugs and broken systems are starting to become really annoying.
They have done this to entire videos on my channel page. I can see them on my account but If I switch to a different computer an look at my channel page they aren't there.
I would call KZhead support a bunch of bots, but I feel like there's bots that would do a much better job. Like, ChatGPT could handle an issue better than this 100%!

This is what happens when KZhead Shadow bans someone. Restricts their videos from being sent out to everyone, and usually comes with hiding your comments. It's possible this happened to you.

i noticed many of my comments disapperaing and they didn't have any links or profanity. their detection systems for whatever are very broken. also bots, like i get about as many replies from bots, as from (probably) real people. i'm not sure if they have any good plan, like what are they gonna do when smarter LLMs enter the comments with human like text. i mean you could have a button to only show accounts older than 2023, cause those are probably real people. but for newerer accounts , i don't konow a good privacy respecting solution. same for other social media. we'll see how it goes
If I had a dollar for every time ray posted a serious video addressing a problem with KZhead which portrayed as a prank because it’s April first, I’d have two dollars, which isn’t a lot, but it’s still weird it happened twice.

Because this is the real problem. I literally experienced this bug myself when I posted a funny bee comment under the video about chunkloaders, Rays responded with laughing emoji, then I replied to that same comment "Spawning bees". A couple of days later Rays' comment is gone and it's just me replying to myself.
I've seen KZhead hiding random comments, including many of my own, for at least 5 years now When you go through ingocnito, some show up and others get hidden that were shown. Super frustrating. KZhead comments are just terrible for any form of discussion for many reasons, but this one is the cherry on top.
I have no idea why they do it, but I hate when support desks close issues before they're fixed. I've experienced this a few times before and it's very frustrating.

Unfortunately, I can't see the pinned comment at all, with either Top Comments or Newest First applied. That's very aggravating! I hope the team actually looks into it and resolves the issue soon.

I'm having another problem with comments since a few days ago where sorting by top comments instead shows newest comments with some randomness
youtube hides/ghosts comments that are "inappropriate" or that they deem to have any form of swearing in it and its annoying

If they still don't really recognize it as a bug, then my guess is they are trying to save on resources, as in internet traffic or something, by avoiding to load the pinned comments of you because they are full of huge lists and links, which I guess is more data then a normal pinned comment. But that is just a guess. To me, I can always see the pinned comments you post.
Nah, unless the platform is preloading every link and baking it into the comments, they don't use THAT much data, even at their largest (unless you're intentionally trying to break things). Certainly not enough for youtube to be concerned with individual comments' effect on their bandwidth.
One think I noticed about those comments bugs is that: - The pinned commenct sometimes is way below the comment, which is funny, since it contradicts the reason for it to be pinned in the first place. - Sometimes, refreshing the page triggers/untriggers tge bug of not seing replies of comment (iirc I only noticed it happening to replies made by the video creators themselves).
I have also noticed problems with KZhead commenting. I am part of a KZhead Minecraft SMP and someone sent an application video; nobody saw it until recently and I tried leaving a comment to let the person know, but it never appeared, even after multiple tries. I tried switching to the account I watch KZhead on (this one) and tried again, still didn't work. I still haven't mannaged to send post the comment. (thank you for trying to get KZhead to fix the issue.)

I'm sorry you're dealing with this Ray. It's always frustrating when the platform you're using has actually communication breaking bugs such as these. I hope whatever the bug is gets resolved, though my hopes are not high at this point.
About a year or 2 ago I noticed that if I posed a comment that included a link it would just disappear like it never existed. I assumed they just block links but decided not to tell us about it.

ive had this affect me when i go to post a comment sometimes. ill post the comment, refresh, and its gone. i always thought it was KZhead's AI automated detection system for bad messages accidently firing on one of my messages, but it might just be this.
I can see NO pinned comment on this video. I can see Ray hearthed some comments, but no reply from Ray on such comments can be seen on my side. Also sometimes, there is reply for a comment and when I click to see it - nothing expand - no comment there shown.
I can't see any pinned comment on this video as of 2024-04-04, 21:19 CET.

It happens from time to time that the messages sent on live shows appear for me but not for the others and after I give top chat/live chat they disappear without a trace but I discovered that if I have a moderator for someone when they are live the messages appear without problems and if I change the yt account, I don't have this problem (I repeat, this happens quite often on the main account, that is, not at all on the secondary one)

dude I don't know if this is related, but quite a while ago I started noticing that some comments display a button to see the replies but the replies are not there. also often when I post a reply it doesn't show up and I always think it got auto-deleted and I post it again to witness the same thing happen. it's quite weird

That has always been a thing with ray, making serious videos on April fools. This is an even bigger prank
Some of the Minecraft ingredients are probably on KZhead's "no-no" list. They're too dumb to get context to realize it's about a game rather than real life. So they shadowbanned it. But they're entirely dishonest about how that works, thus the gaslighting.
I feel bad for this guy cuz imagine replying and reading so many of ur comments and being a good KZheadr just to realise everything got deleted/never got sent

I've been seeing a similar bug recently where I can't see my own comments if they're a public reply. I still receive notifications from the thread, so I know it clearly exists, and it appears in my channel history, but there's no way to know if other people also can't see my replies. It confused me for a long time, because they're generally helpful answers to questions. Part of my suspision comes from seeing other users comment very similar ideas weeks after I've said something (in the same thread), but mine being the only comment without upvotes when viewed through my comment histories. It's very disheartening, since I want to engage with the community and boost video algorithms.
Sometimes are just invisible for me. Even here under this video -_-
if you make a community post after and crosslink between the post and the description, it would be a good place to put it instead
Use an alt and pin that comment instead.
Conclusion, don't use pinned comments for which purpose the video description is there for. Also, keep in mind that any google product is in perpetual beta state. Don't expect anything to work as it should.
It's working as intended. He's just shadowbanned by KZhead.
