Actually Chile claims sovereign territory down to the south pole, making it much longer than shown in the video, and form 1879 to 1884 during the Pacific War against Perú and Bolivia, Chile conquered all the pacific coastline up to Lima, Perú, achieving a costal length of 8663 km. Also during that time Chile had the strongest navy on the Pacific, patrolling with little opposition up to San Francisco and successfully sending a battleship to stop the US annexation of Panama in April 1885. So Longer Chile could have very well been a reality.

There actually is a route to Anchorage from Vancouver, however it would not fit on the map you have provided, as it takes hwy 97 (BC) up to Prince George, etc. So, it is possible, and when Longer Chile Becomes a country, they would most likely consider this and take over much of BC. @Deva Rafael Yes... although having only 20 km of coastline with other Croatian islands closely surrounding it (not to mention relatively shallow waters) makes having a port there not very feasible. As such, BiH is functionally landlocked, because the nearest usable port is on the Croatian side. Also, if Croatia goes ahead and builds their proposed bridge over their islands that would enable bypassing the Neum border crossing entirely, that potentially spells more trouble for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Actually Punta Arenas is not connected by roads to the rest of Chile. You need to detour through Argentina, because the last highway "Carretera Austral" ends at Villa O'Higgins - almost 500km north of Punta Arenas.

@@Carlos-ne3zf ferrys are only connectors, too slow for long distances. i worked in cargo ships doing half that distance (from guaitecas, south of chiloe to natales) and it was a whole night travel. There are tourist cruisers sailing from muerto montt but iirc they use like 6 days making multiple stops. @Alvin road building is not impossible, it's just not economically justificable. when there's a reason to spend all that money the geography is not an impediment. Norway has similar topography and its all connected
