Mice. They may look cute, but can cause serious damage. They get into our homes or businesses and spread filth, contaminate food, and even chew through wiring that can start fires.
There are plenty of signs to look for amongst a mice infestation. You might see some gnaw marks at the feet of your furniture, or you’ll notice some bags of food have been chewed through. They invade our homes looking for food and shelter. Mice could be hiding in your kitchen, garage, basement, attic, or bathroom, and once they’ve found their way in, they will do whatever they can to stick around.
How do you know you’re dealing with house mice rather than any other rodent, like a rat?A house mouse will measure around 2-3 inches, while adult rats can be 7-10 inches. Mice also have proportionately larger ears for their head size than rats do.
A common question we get a lot is how do I know I have mice. Mice are naturally very oily and they like to crawl against walls to feel safe, so you can look for grease marks along walls and baseboards. Also, keep your nose out for any foul odors. As mice excrete droppings, you can also expect them to excrete urine, which will leave a strong ammonia scent.
Start looking inside your home. Check underneath cabinets in your kitchen or bathrooms, inside of pantries, and behind appliances. Also check your garage, attic, and basement. Storage containers and clutter against the walls help mice feel safe as they travel.
In the kitchen, wipe down your stove top and pantry shelves and sweep the floors. Put away and seal pet food and other dried foods. Sweep dirt, dust, and declutter your garage, attic or basement to remove potential nesting sites. By cleaning up around your house, we’ve already eliminated a major reason for mice to stay here: food and shelter.
For the most effective mouse control, you will need to use a combination of mouse poison bait blocks, snap traps, and glue traps. We use a wide variety of traps because mice are skittish creatures who may not fall for just one kind of trap.
We’ll start by making bait placements with Eratication Rodent Bait. The bait blocks contain diphacinone, a blood-thinning chemical that will slowly kill mice within a few days. We will use Eratication with the Solutions Mouse Bait Stations. A bait station houses rodent poison bait blocks and provides mice with favorable conditions to consume the bait.
Along with bait, we will also use Solutions Easy Set Mouse Traps. These snap traps offer an instant method of killing mice. Unlike traditional snap traps, these traps are easy to arm, sanitary, and its unique pull bar design allows you to dispose of mice without having to touch them.
Finally to round out our mouse treatment, we will use glue boards like the Catchmaster 72MB. These glue boards will help you catch multiple mice per trap in environments where poisons are prohibited or discouraged. The Catchmaster Glue Board’s unique design allows you to set it flat or fold it into a box. Folding the glue board into a box creates a more conducive environment for mice, since they like dark and enclosed spaces, but it’s not always necessary to do so.
Our final step of the process is prevention. It is important to avoid mice infestations by maintaining an environment not conducive to mice behaviour. Eliminate food and water sources by cleaning up around kitchens and bathrooms. Pack boxed foods such as cereals, pasta, or rice into air-tight plastic containers. Maintain a regular cleaning schedule, wash your dishes, take out the garbage, and clean food crumbs and spills.
Be sure to visit our website for an in-depth guide and access to each of our products. We guarantee that these products and tips will help control house mice, and we offer same day shipping to help you get control quickly.

  • This is a really great video, just watch it through. Some of these tips I learned by observation. For example, don't give them places to live in your house. Clean out garages, closets and attics (they may literally be bedding so close to you !). I had MICE LIVING IN MY SPARE BEDROOMS, and the rest of the house was so clean. I was single, and much was vacant for periods. BUT, one thing I did not see covered (I may have missed), mouse proof your yard. Keep wood piles away from the home and neat. Leave lights on at night (slight deterrent). Hope you have a black rat snake in the neighborhood, they are better than cats (don't run them over, protect them).

  • All sounds good. Have been living in an apartment for several years, and have had mice every year. The building management have tried to quell the infestation, have sent pest control to find them and set traps. The mice are too smart to get caught. I use glue trays, regular mouse traps, and poison mixed in with peanut butter. Only occasional catch one or two. I must say, I never see evidence that they are into my food stores. The cupboards are pretty well impervious to mice. But they still come in. Saw a couple last night, which ran across my carpet, not by the wall, and disappeared under a cabinet. I REALLY want to see the end of them. Btw, a REALLY effective way to stop them is to get a cat, that catches mice (they don’t all!). I had one, she caught a few, and was on alert for them. Had to get rid of her as granddaughter was allergic. Good luck, everyone!

  • The mice have gotten too smart for me. They learned to avoid the glue traps we were using and stopped using paths where they were being caught. The advantage is they quit ruining all my cereal and pasta. The disadvantage is they learned they can use open paths because we can't put traps there. I bought an electric trap that was working wonders but the bodies soiled the metal kill plate and now we can't get it clean enough to stop setting itself off. I hate mice. Constantly chewing, gnawing and scratching, making noise at all hours of the day and night. It's true what they say, the older you get the more you sympathize with Tom.

    @MrV902@MrV9023 жыл бұрын
    • The older you get the more ?... You can use a bucket with water in it, drill a small hole at the top of the bucket and place a metal rod through the hole. Use a plastic bottle or aluminum T can through the metal rod (some use PVC pipe) and peanut butter on the bottle or can. As long as it spins, the rodents will fall and drown. This can be used in an open path. There are youtube videos on how to set this trap up for more visual how-to instructions.

  • So I was chilling in my apartment today and heard a weird noise, and after a few minutes of trying to figure it out I found the culprit who immediately ran down a hole near the wall when he noticed me. At first I freaked out, but after I gained my composure I came up with a plan. I'd like to share my tip not mentioned in the video. I grabbed a big f*** all butcher knife and hovered over the hole. Within minutes the little guy popped out and cautiously looked around. I brought the knife down in a stabbing motion in his head. This didn't do the trick but it stunned him in a defensive posture. I then used a chopping motion to the neck with extreme force which murdered the little f***. I bought a two pack of snap traps and a poison trap, but so far haven't seen any other activity. Hopefully any of his friends and family were watching and saw what happens when you run up in this house. P.S. The whole ordeal was terrifying and I think I may have ptsd from having to murder an animal today.... = (

    @ceewoody7310@ceewoody73103 жыл бұрын
    • If there is no other food source such as crumbs, etc. in the house then mice should go after the bait on glue traps. Glue traps should be placed along walls or where mice have been spotted. Peanut butter works well as bait. Mice are more active at night so some patience is advised. With that said, would a hungry mouse really be able to pass up a dab of delicious peanut butter placed in the center of a glue trap, especially if there were no other food it could get to in the house? I don't think it would push away the trap then. It would go for the bait out of hunger alone and then it would be game over for it.

  • The black T-rex traps work good. Take some sticky jam or corn syrup.. place a dash in the reserve bowl.. (optional: let set for a few days for jam or syrup to harden to create more tension with the peanut) take half a peanut, place it smooth/round side up into the sticky jam/syrup. That way the mouse has to apply pressure to get the peanut. With the smooth side up, it may take a few tries for mouse to get the peanut.. this method usually works.. ALSO, it is important to take a small cardboard box and cut door holes on all sides... Mouse traps in the open are less effective.. you want it so the mouse feels safer inside the box while going for the spoils.

  • I got a house mouse. He came in during a really bad rainy day in January. Climbed in through the window. I was sitting in bed with my laptop and I noticed something move really fast near the door. Once I'd looked over, it was gone. But I could tell - it was bigger than a spider, and that made no sense, because the way the lights are in the room there could be no shadow cast either. As I laid there, my brain just kept coming back with one single explanation : MOUSE. So I got up and walked over and looked behind the desk - sure enough, there he was. The mouse. I sighed, moved everything off the floor up high, so he had no place to run to. Then I emptied the desk. Then I MOVED the desk. NO MOUSE!? I looked around, confused .... but there he was, near the door. And as I watched, he simply ran UNDER the door jam. OUTSMARTED! BY A MOUSE! So I painstakingly put everything back, grumbling, complaining, and got back into bed. He arrived a few minutes later. Came to look at me, to make sure I wasn't chasing him anymore, then he moved into one of the drawers in the desk. Whatever. Too fast for me anyway. So I started to feed him. Biscuit a day, water from an egg cup I filled and left near the drawer. He's been here nine months now. Totally moved in. He wakes up at 2-3am, eats his biscuit or cheese, drinks, comes over to look at me .... then fucks off under the doorjam into the house for an hour. Probably looking for a mate. There are no other mice here. I left the door (front door) open for him for HOURS to persuade him to escape. He's NOT interested. Just comes back every night at 4-5am and goes back to sleep. Stupid mouse. No wife, no kids ..... all he does is the same routine every fucking day! My kids are entertained by it all, so I figured .... whatever. Live your life. I read they only live 18 months or so anyways. As I write this, he's sitting there in the corner on the carpet, chewing a block of cheese, starring at me. Idiot.

  • I have pet Sparrows and I went on vacation for a 1 week and left them plenty of food. Apparently I had mice because when I came back all their food was gone and they were starved. It was 2 weeks worth of food and unlike dogs they will not eat constantly so the food should have lasted. I could see all the droppings. It took a year for me to find a solution because no matter how many I caught, more of them kept arriving. Place your bird cages at least 18" or more off the ground on something with smooth metal poles for legs or anything else mice cannot jump to reach or climb. Also surround the lower portion of their cage with something to prevent food from falling out and onto the floor or buy a cage that already has this built into it. Keep your home free of open food and crumbs, clean and sweep often and the mice will move on.

So if you see the Victor ones with the all-metal trigger, grab them, they work the best. Bait with chocolate.These traps are the most humane. Kills them instantly, gets them on their neck. My neighbors cat died from consuming a mouse with blood thinner in it and it's a problem with foxes in some areas whole fox families are killed and die a slow death because they consume a lot of mice that are poisoned. • I live in a condominium and our building has had mice issues for years and pest control doesn't seem to help. I couldn't sleep, I'd hear them all night, they were also damaging my couch, clothes and other things so I took it upon myself to do something about it.. I bought the soft bait and that didn't work by itself so I would put gloves on, I open the small packages it's in and I mix a very small amount of peanut butter in it and they want the peanut butter so they have no choice but to eat it. I tried it with the hard bait, the first time it worked and they ate it all but the second time they just nibbled at it only eat the peanut butter on the outside so that's not a good idea. Also I don't recommend if you have pets that walk around the house/apartment and if you have small kids that can get to the poison. Some of the mice won't die within the walls and they will walk around very slowly before they die. If you smell a dead one then it's close to where you are, I never smell it when they die within the walls and I realized every time I would smell them was because it was close to me under the couch or under my bed.

  • I’ve used the non toxic mouse traps that keep mouse alive and allow for catch and release. Same for rats. It’s def more effort…but I can keep a no toxic no poison environment and allow the wildlife to reestablish elsewhere. I’m a softie…so I catch them and release in wild with a large food supply.

    • How sweet to allow them to continue to multiply at warp speed in the wild and return to house for more catch and release fun.. I'm not so kind hearted .

    • i get that harming a mouse is uncomfortable to you. But they can breed and infest different places. It is in a way selfish, to let them go and make others deal with then

  • I set poison bait in a bowl and over the course of a week, the bowl was emptied and the mouse unaffected. Next I set snap-traps and it managed to pull the bait off the pin without triggering the traps. Later, I strapped the bait to the pin with a tight loop of thread. Once again, the bait vanished, leaving a loose loop of cotton behind and an unsprung trap. I eventually caught the Hairy Houdini rummaging in a trash bag and sealed the top before putting it in an empty wheelie-bin. It escaped the bag, but not the bin. The night was frosty and I guess it died of exposure as it was lying dead at the bottom in the morning. Now, I seem to have a regular infestation. I've caught 3 in 3 days using glue pads, but there was one playing tag with me in my bedroom most of the night before escaping and there seems to be more under the floor. I think maybe a small thermonuclear device is called for...

    • Yes get tbe thetmo device. Glue pads are so cruel, I hate mice,but even they don't deserve to be terrorstricken and suffer a painful death

      @laurielovett8849@laurielovett88494 жыл бұрын
    • @@laurielovett8849 If they don't want to be terror-stricken they shouldn't go invading the lifespace of a larger predator and keep on trying their luck when challenged. And they didn't suffer a painful death, they got walloped with the heel of a shoe and never knew what hit them. In the end I systematically caulked off all of their conduits using a mixture of "Hard As Nails" adhesive and steel wool. All seems okay now. No mercy for mice - or spiders, since a false widow bit me in my bed...

  • We had family of mice living under fridge. It was warm, secure place with water (that conteiner, where defrost water goes). They had babies there and so on. It was hard to find, you have to do whole refrigerator maintenance, take out panels and empty that water container. But best result we got with split system, mounted on the wall. Well, wall was vibrating, mice flee!

  • Started to do some home repair a few weeks ago after a pipe burst in my kitchen a few months ago (In Arkansas so Insurance is kinda backed up from the Tornado damage last spring). Today I saw a small black mouse scampering across my living room floor. Have any tips to deal with mice while having a home in need of repair? Carpet and floor is pulled up and base boards were removed, so effectively sealing up those nooks and crannies might be difficult until my repairs are complete.
