🔥 EX-ARMY UNIMOG takes on the OLD TELE TRACK (Cape York, Australia)

Jase is taking his 12-tonne ex-Army Mercedes Unimog on the infamous Old Telegraph Track in far North Queensland. Simon is along for the ride in his modified V8 LandCruiser, hauling a 7-metre trailer. Together they face tough terrain, emergency bush mechanics, and even a good old fashioned vehicle rollover.

  • Drove these for several decades. Unstoppable in the right hands. But its not 12 tonne, thats GVM. Its 5.7 Tonne plus about 1.5 tonne of gear on the tray if all those 44's are full. That's almost the same as the insane weight of the LC/trailer combo. But the mog is cruising it whereas the LC will be working its arse off...and most probably sucking more fuel than the mog!!!

  • If you know that the truck is wider than the tracks, then you know you are going to be causing the tracks unnecessary damage. Why would you do it?

    @Normacfan@Normacfan Жыл бұрын
    • Most all terrain vehicles are truck width. Its just that here in Australia, we are backward due to the transport authorities being anal retentive and very ignorant to change and do not permit any of the really serious all terrain vehicles to be imported, so we have learnt to think that the toy's we have like Toyotas, Fords , Datsuns, etc are real 4x4's. Top end all wheel drive vehicles are in the million dollar plus plus range. So for those lucky enough to have even a poor mans small 4x4 such as a Unimog, why not let them have their fun in the sun.

  • Seems those guys are overdoing the drama as they often pick the less sensible track options, so it is not advisable for novices to attempt that strategy for outback journeys, but then it is about entertainment for people, most of whom may never try to do any serious off-road driving.! It remind me of Bear Grylls and his high octane show of survival in the wild, where much of what he do is not something any novice could, or should attempt, as the main objective is creating excitement for entertainment and people should realise that.🙄...

Another Mad c--t Foster would drive the Unimog 8th gear in reverse load of old Tea tree dried roots with blokes on the back as if they did a U Turn off the track the old tree stumps would puncture the sidewalls and we had to clear a drop zone.
