Had a 1960 corn-binder 4wd, 6 cylinders, tall skinny bias-plies, a high lift jack, 50 ft of chain, a shovel, and firewood for blocks…and NO ONE , or fences, for miles and miles. Encountered flash floods, crossed creeks too deep, stuck in several feet of snow and dug ourselves out many times, -15deg once. I look back and think how recklessness, it could have gone so wrong. I am fortunate to be alive. Wouldn’t trade those experiences that anything.

  • This is the benefits of a purpose designed vehicle. Unimogs have portal axles with gears to lift the diff casing well above the centre of the wheel. They also have a chassis which will flex, as well as centre diff locks like most 4wds plus front and rear lockers. This means or four wheels will continue turning as opposed to losing traction if two lose grip as with a centre locker

  • I actually didn’t know mogs could come without lockers, every one I’ve ever had has had front and rear lockers standard, and my current one even has the creeper gear, maybe it’s just the 416?

    • Nope U 416 has also Lockers front and rear. Maybe he didnt know that he had them or they were removed during the Modifikations

  • Unimogs are amazing. I've been driving a 435 special rescue fire truck version. BTW. Unimogs where not Mercedes in the beginning. Universal Motor Geraet for agricultural use, operating machinery and harvesting.
