As a hunter and a friggin duck farmer; i can confirm that the duck is dead. Anyone saying otherwise has not seen a half dead duck and doesn't understand biology, it's just nerves firing off. A few reasons ⬇️ 1. Relaxed shoulders 2. wings aren't flapping 3. relaxed neck 4. Ducks have extremely high blood pressure, if that thing was alive that hole would be spraying blood everywhere
For anyone concerned about the movement, thinking the duck is still alive, here is a little known fact. All of the muscles in any animal, including humans, are naturally loaded for movement. The brain actually inhibits any unwanted movement and only allows the muscles to move as commanded, through nerves, by the brain. For a short period, after death, the brain no longer inhibits those motions and so you see the muscles continue to move. That is why, even with a head shot game animals "twitch" or spasm, because they are disinhibited from movement.

Yeah, they teach this in schools. Guess what? They teach the opposite in Europe. You are misled.

@@carrot7590It’s been bleeding but there’s zero blood on it’s body ? That makes sense 🤦♂️
Nah that thing definitely still alive 😂
People SHOULD speak with confidence that there is no reason to be confident about it being alive. Saying “this isn’t inherently bad or even suspicious of any moral offense” is different from saying “there is definitely nothing wrong here”. This is not a 1:1 “both sides” issue.
The amount of people in here that have never hunted talking about how it's disrespectful is wild.
Right
I bet they thought meat magically spawned out of nowhere at the grocery store.
I was unsure, so I asked my dad who actually hunts. “That’s one dead duck… twitch maybe but if that wad hit it… a bunch of steel bb’s were ahead of the wad!” Just a bunch of comment warriors who don’t know what they’re talking about.

@@matts1804exactly my thoughts he must have shot it with a cut shell. every time I've used a cut shell the wad didn't fully open like that
To all the people out here, who probably have only hunted ants that duck is dead, many animals in particularly ducks and chickens and such will twitch after they die, the movement is only from signals being sent by dying nerves. The animal is no longer with us.
For those saying put it out of its misery, it is😐 it's body is very flimsy, if it was alive it would be moving more, making a noise and its body wouldn't be swaying like it was, the legs moving are just nerves, yall should see a chicken when you cut its head off, it's body will sometimes still run without the head on💀 that duck is gone, so yes they have respect for it
Nice shot for those who think this duck is alive your wrong this duck is dead asf and it’s moving because its nerves are still firing but this duck is not going to get any deader
i've had a few shots where it left a hole just like that and i could see the wad bounce off. but never stuck like that. cool beans.

My phone definitely knows what I’m thinking.. I was just thinking this morning..“I wonder if my any of my wads have ever hit a duck yet?” THEN THIS!!!!!
I feel like my phone does too. Even when I don’t say things out loud, only think them in my head.. somehow something will pop up on shorts or somewhere else. Even when I type a google search as I am typing it it will pop up as if it already knew what I was going to ask. So weird

Guys, the duck moving its legs is just the nerves. It happens in humans too. Sometimes, after people die, their fingers begin twitching because of the nerves. Since this is a smaller animal, it happens in a greater magnitude

It's just twitching, if the duck was alive it would be flapping and spraying blood.
What did you do to that poor widgeon how close was he?
Dude, that's f****** awesome.😂

Question wouldn’t the wad be spread out the opposite direction inless you packed a shell the wad should be spread out and facing into the duck with the wide side in the duck.
The heavy plastic side flips around because that side is more aerodynamic and because all the weight is on that side.
No things twist and turn when flying through the air
I guess my wads fly weird then

Muscles do not twitch longer than 30 seconds after it dies. All electrical signals are discharged by that time.

The wad is inside the outer shell it holds the pellets and keeps them separate from powder.
Head shots my man, head shots! 😂 Thx for sharing, my season is over till next Nov.
Its ok he has to save ammo for everyone saying finish the bird off
It's nerves
The duck is not suffering, it’s dead. That’s a wad that got jammed in the ducks chest. This can only happen if it was a relatively close shot (5 to 10 yards) and the bird was flying towards the blind. The truth is that he missed the duck by shooting too far in front. You see any experienced Trap or Skeet shooter will tell you that the wad trails behind the lead or steel bb’s and in order for the wad to be lodged in the bird chest it happened at close range. On a totally different note this video does nothing to advance the perception of hunters.
How did you think this was going to go.
Un respectful hunters are the worst
Uneducated hunters r worse and that was zombie nerves I’m not gonna explain how nerves work when you have google for that
@Lewy Newman I'm not talking about the twitching, I know it's dead, I have a problem with how he's holding it like a sack of garbage and just leaving the shot in there. The last deer I shot a few months ago I teared up and knelt down with her and was petting her and thanked her. I have respect for the animals I harvest, from the looks of it, this guy doesn't. And you're full of shit by saying un educated is worse than disrespectful and you know it.

Im not a hunter so this really hurts to look at. At least I see a lot off Hunters in the comments feeling the same way. Seems like most people are respectful.
Bro none of these people are hunters the duck is death the nervous system is making it twitch if you've never killed something you wouldn't know
@@wethepeople8092 When i worked at a farm i killed a chicken. Didn't really like the experience ^^. But you could be right are you a hunter yourself?
If you ask me it's just nerves kicking
It amazes me how many people think that duck is still alive. Those are nerve synapses firing shortly after death. Ever heard of the phrase “a chicken with its head cut off”? That’s because the same thing happens to chickens (sometimes with other animals but not as often). When you kill a chicken, especially by breaking the neck or decapitation, those nerves are no longer being controlled by the brain. However, there are still electrical and chemical pulses that will happen in the muscle or nerves that cause expansion and contraction of muscles. Hence the saying about a chicken running around with its head cut off. This is because even though they’re technically dead, their body is still expending the last of the energy that has been stored. Same thing with this duck. If it were still alive you would be able to tell. It would be trying to move its wings, trying to make a lot of noise, and likely also wiggling it’s body trying to get away. You see none of that except for the legs moving. Dead duck.
My question is was that whole side of the breast meat salvaged
Maybe the poor bird was sitting on the pipe

Do you not know the point of hunting?
Go a year without animal products
Half of the comments reasonably concerned, the other half asserting that this is completely fine without much real evidence to support the claim.
The evidence is practically a slug sticking out of it. It obviously died on impact. If duck hunting uses birdshot (tons of small pellets) then a slug would most definitely kill it instantly
