Athletes are like breaking the old 'molds' and it's not like that's easy to do. Kinda like how players take the court, holding hands with a little kid. Rybakina is good at it. Cute kid.

  • Rybakina was so rusty and it was very obvious in the 1st set which she should have won. One thing I have noticed and which she should do more and more in matches is to fire more forehands down-the-line. Her opponents are currently waiting for her forehands to go crosscourt. That's what Jabeur did at Wimbledon to beat her and that was also the strategy of Brady in this match. She should do medium strength down-the-line forehands with plenty of margin during forehand to forehand rallies and she would have many winners off that shot in future matches.

  • Rybakina took her time getting going and was a little flat footed at times. She hasn’t played to her level best since late May 2023 when she won the Italian Open and has since dropped from No. 3 to 4 in the rankings. Hope she goes far in this tournament and keeps improving to set up a semifinal against Sabalenka.

      @RamZar50@RamZar509 ай бұрын
    • @@RamZar50 Technically it was her sickness at Roland Garros that cost her the most points. She could have made it to the final at Roland Garros and maybe even won it to catch up to Sabalenka, but instead she withdrew after winning the 2nd round and gained zero points from playing a major(which is devastating). Iga gained a few more points for winning Warsaw this time but Berlin was the same result for Rybakina and Sabalenka and Sabalenka lost to the same person as Rybakina a round later in Wimbledon so Sabalenka barely got more points from Wimbledon than Rybakina and Iga lost in the quarterfinals too so Wimbledon was a wash. The real points that Rybakina needs to get to claim number 1 are in Montreal, Cincinnati, the US Open(where she lost in the 1st round last year), Guadalajara(2nd round loss to Pegula), the indoor events, the Asian swing and finally the WTA finals where she has never gained any points because she has never been in the top 10 before this year.

  • I find no improvement in Rybakina’s game

    • There is actually some slight improvement. She hit a drop shot winner from the baseline in the middle of a rally to give herself the lead in the 4-3 return game in the 3rd set, she hit some good shots on the run that actually put her ahead in a rally that she was losing that she couldn’t do months ago. Rybakina from even just earlier this year would have lost this match badly. She hit a ton of errors in this match(mostly easy shots that she needed to make in order to win matches earlier in her career) and yet still held serve pretty comfortably in most games against a dangerous versatile opponent.

    • @@westonmeyer3110 she also hit some down-the-line forehand winners in this game which she should do more often as opponents are now camping on their forehand wing waiting for her likely forehand crosscourt. Once she does this shot efficiently then this will open up her forehand crosscourt.

    • @@nonymcat5709 With her power she could hit a winner down the line nearly every time. She wouldn’t even need the cross court shot to finish the point.
