  • My big sister has tourettes and i seeing the fear when Anita was talking about being near cliffs with friends really hit home because Dea has pushed me down the stairs and punched me and is always so upset, even though we know it isn't her fault. They are funny, and brings a lighter moment where you can just laugh along with them rather than of them! Make tics something you all can bond over, and think positively of! Her tics made me laugh and feel kinda happy. They were entertaining! Positive. To be honest, i have never before this video seen a tic and actually thought it positive like this, and just enjoy what i saw. Im glad. ----------------------- I myself have Tourettes, and two particular tics appeared and became kinda more frequent as most of the video went on. My left eye gets sorta irritated, and i tend to roll my eyes, mostly pick/rub on that part of the eye to try lessen the reactions i have there. As well as a sound i make with my throat, but not my throat clearing tic, just some sort of a vocal tic. So i have a history with Tourettes, and hope this video will be very helpful for me! It was very nice to watch.

  • Oh my god. I have ADHD, and I’ve had Tourette’s for about 15 years and it’s only ever been more minor things like blinking/eye rolls, little chirping sounds, that sort of thing. I was feeling these different physical sensations that I had to try and get rid of or I couldn’t focus on anything else, like an itch needing to be scratched really, really badly. But it was never super disruptive to my life, more just embarrassing growing up because it took a while before I developed ones that were easier to hide or do quietly. A couple of months ago the twitching and shifting got really bad. It became so unbearable that I could. Not. Sleep. Like when Samuel was talking about how distressed he felt as a kid when he couldn’t make himself stop? A few months back it got so bad that I felt like I was losing my mind every night. I would put my phone away to try and sleep but then my brain had nothing else to focus on and it was like my body was on fire with how many sensations I was suddenly experiencing. I was hypersensitive to every wrinkle in my sheets, to how a toe felt, to the way my ear lay on my pillow. There were a few nights that I literally cried myself to sleep because I was so sleep deprived and mentally exhausted. I was finally prescribed some medication to help the racing thoughts at night but if I don’t remember to take them early enough (curse you ADHD) then it becomes extremely difficult again. Very much a “don’t think about pink elephants” sort of situation where the harder I fight it the worse it gets. Also idk if this is a normal Tourette’s thing but similar to Anita talking about how her tics don’t really happen if she’s distracted mine flair up SUPER badly if they’re pointed out or discussed. Watching this video was really helpful mentally, but holy shit I felt like my body was going berserk Anyway, wow. Just kind of shouting this out to the void lol

  • I would enjoy an "I spent a day with people with auditory hallucinations" video. I feel it would be an informative video, since I was recently diagnosed with auditory hallucinations. They suck - hearing disembodied things where you can't find the source makes you paranoid and checking your surroundings. Interestingly enough, auditory hallucinations don't have to be related to schizophrenia. PTSD, depression, and anxiety (which I also have, mind you) can also play a factor. I remember they started out of the blue and I was scared - December 17, 2021. Been dealing with them ever since, even with my new medicine.

  • Very validating. My breathing tics are so bad that I went to the hospital just so they could put me to sleep to give my body a break. I begged for sleep. My daily tics are annoying and I get made fun of by people in school. Just today people were airdropping pictures to me and trying to bother me and I wanted to just sink into the floor at that moment. The physiological effects this part of my life has had in me has been severe, and I also have imposter syndrome so when my tics are less bad I’m thinking, “There’s no way I have it, I’m being dramatic and I’m just a lazy slacker”. When they are bad any doubt in my mind is silenced but it is a constant struggle and the road to even get my own parents to believe me has been rough. I had to fight to go to the doctor to get it checked out bc my parents were really against it but now many situations in my past have been validated and I can live my life better, at least on the social end, the tics are still annoying and painful AF

We literally have natural electricity that comes from the universe and runs through our bodies just to keep us alive, so sometimes it causes malfunctions within the neurological system and we get gifts like you. 😍🙏🏾

  • Since we're all sharing here, I also have Tourettes. At one point in my life I was working for a family business under the promise that i would get an apprenticeship for hvac. I was onsite cutting pipe on one side of a large warehouse, while a coworker was working on the opposite side I don't know how he could hear me but apparently my tics set him off because he stormed all the way across the warehouse while i was running the pipe threader (very loud machine) and he proceeded to yell at me for making the annoying noises and for obsessively clearing my throat and blowing my nose among other things. I didn't feel like going into a huge explanation for why i do the things i do because we were both on the clock my lack of an explanation ended up with me being taken aside by a supervisor who asked me to go somewhere else to do what i was doing so as not to annoy coworker. Anyway i'm used to these types of incidents I didn't want to make a big deal out of it, but it ended up being used in a power play by a rival supervisor who was nearby who tried to reframe the incident as me being punished by the other supervisor. So I was hauled into the office with the owner, and supervisor 1 and 2 who argued amongst themselves about how i was treated on the worksite all for the purpose of getting supervisor 1 fired or disciplined or something. The owner knew I had Tourettes previously, so the question ended up being, did supervisor 1 harass you for having this problem, and I said no he was just trying to find a compromise it was "coworker" who was harassing me. I didn't like that I was being played like a political pawn It wasn't long after that I was laid off because of low work, and I was genuinely glad that I was.

My mom could also tell that I had ADHD when I was a kid, she had it too and she'd studied neurodivergence. But she didn't take me to a doctor 'cos she didn't want me to feel different and get bullied.
