One thing I forgot to mention about sound. Both these headsets sound better connected straight 3.5 and not usb, even if u adjust an eq. Weird but true. 👍
Good to know. That is weird. How does red mute light work over 3.5? Is there a coin battery in there or something?
@@Juice_VI no idea, I was curious about that as well.
There’s a capacitor in there that can hold just enough charge to power that light without a battery
@@user-vq1sm8pd7j Thanks!
How does it sound when you use the Cloud 3 with the Cloud II dongle? Any difference?
I asked you about this (and maybe other people too), and you replied with this great video, thanks! will catch a cloud II!
Been waiting for this! Mine are on order!
Cheers for the review, i do like the look of the Cloud 3s and the mic was really good.
The way u explain everything really helped me make my mind up about which mic I should get . I’m mainly looking for a good mic for sound purposes , and I’ve seen you review the Alpha as well which is my decision because of your reaction to the sound .
Been waiting for your review,. Thanks! I'm sticking with the Cloud 2. Great reviewing as always
Thank you for your honesty, as serious gamers we need this info!
*It's been 84 years....* I've been using my Cloud 2 since day 1 release. After all these years I can finally have a upgrade worthy of that 120 euro price
I just bought them in czech retail store for 80 Euro - I think that they maybe wrongly priced them because other store have them for at least 118 Euro. Hope they will be as good as OG Kingston Cloud 2 but I keep my hopes low since I already tried Cloud 2 Wireless before and it was dogshit, high white noise and sound quality was not exactly good....kinda sad that HP ruin this brand.
@@seifertak Yeah but those were wireless, thess are wired and sound quality should be top notch. From what I've seen on KZhead reviews everybody says it's really good.
Been Waiting for this review for so long
The most honest reviewer 👍
Thank you so much for this. I had a struggle debating to get some wicked cush and slap on my steel series that i got a month or two ago. Imma be honest either i have dumbo ears or my head was large but those steel series pinched and made my head sweat like being out in daylight. Went back to hyper x 2 and never looked back. Dropped a few times think the amount of drops have messed them up. Bet im getting another hyper x 2 because of you 😇
Great video! But if I’m on Xbox series S I can’t use the surround sound or the panel which is a real shame. on the cloud 3 does it work or is it still the same?
I’ve been using the HyperX Cloud Flight wireless for a long time and I’m surprised hyperx hasn’t done the swivel on their higher end models. The only issue I’ve had with the flights is the ear pads, but that’s expected to wear out.
Mate you just saved me some cash. I play solo more than anything so mic quality for multiplayer isn't important to me, but sound quality is prime. So I'm gonna hold on to my Cloud 2 for dear life and make a point to look after it better especially hearing that the newer batches have poorer quality than the og ones.
Have you tried plugging the 3s into the 2s usb sound dongle? If so does it help the sound profile?
Aside from the falling off faux leather on the headband and ear cushions, my cloud II has been going strong for almost 7 years. Tried other headsets but they doesn't sound as good as my cloud II. Looking for upgrade for wireless headset though, is the logitech g pro x wireless or hyperx cloud wireless are comparable to the cloud II?
Yes, the cloud ii sound is exciting 😀 it was the first thing I noticed first time I used it. I guess it is always a matter of preference, I'm sure audiophiles will prefer the sound of cloud iii. In your test the micro from the cloud iii sounded very good to me.
From my experience, "Audiophiles" have no idea what good sound is. I've bought a pair of "Focal Elegia" because many people in the "audiophile subreddit" recommended them to me. They were the weirdest, most shitty sounding headphone I've ever used. I would rather use a 50$ no name headset. And be aware the headphone originally costed 800$ and I bought it for 400$. So yep, idk whatever those "Audiophiles" are smoking. After that experience, I only trust "Audio nerds" like Techne. He actually knows what he is talking about compared to all the "audiophiles".
No, audiophiles won't use anything that's not Audio Technica or Sennheiser
Still loving my clouds, been my daily drivers for a couple years and will be for years
Are you sure that the cloud 2 ear pads works on cloud 3? and where can i order it ?
Techne what are your opinions on using apple earpods (wired) for gaming?
Wow. That microphone got so much higher quality comparing with Cloud 2 and Alpha.
Thanks for video! What is better, Logitech G Pro X or Cloud 3 for fps gaming?
Are the boom mics interchangeable? By that i mean using the mic from the cloud 3 in the cloud 2 headset and would that make the best of both worlds, sound and microphone.
I have a question: Can you change hyperx 3 settings on ps5 if you change them from a computer?
Are the cups the same size? Have some wicked cushions here that I might want to use on the 3.
is this better than the logitech g pro x2 in term of imaging separation footstep. etc. specially in warzone 2
thanks for being honest!
I bought these a week ago. They are good. And mic is very good. Prior to this i was using vr3000 earbuds. On this, due to closed back nature and bigger drivers, I can definitely hear a bit more of game sounds without needing to crank the volume up like I used to on my vr3000. The clamping force does start to create fatigue if worn more than 3-4 hours at a stretch. Maybe it'll get better with time. Maybe you will not get fatigue if you have flatter ears that are more flush with your head. Overall, will still recommend as good purchase.
Hey bro please translate this, i saw a review said this headphone not good with iphone sound is very low and mix every sound of footsteps, gunfire, door.!? Can you use this without pc!?
is it good for valorant?
Cloud 3 completely destroys the Cloud 2's mic
I wouldn’t say destroys, but yes it’s better.
@@TheTechne on your video recording, the difference is night and day. The cloud 3's sound almost similar to your recording mic - I was very surprised.
@@jabbarismadi5607 Depends what you listened on. If it’s on your phone or tablet etc it’s not a fair comparisons. Listen with some good headphones or speakers

Can you test the Cloud 3 on the cloud 2 usb, I've noticed they seem to be louder than the cloud alpha usb
i want a better microphone for my hyperx 2. Can i take the one of the hyperx 3? or any other ideas?
I've had logitech g533, g933 and had to returned them multiple times to warranty.. I love the brand and its models but im looking into hyperx nowadays... i love the wireless feature, can't really live without it ;) Would a cloud II wireless be a smart choice? been reading pretty good and pretty bad comments so I cant make up my mind, could someone give me straight opinions? Yes, No, why?.. I'd really aprecciate it!
Great video as always bro
I have a pair of Astro A50s that i might be lookin to replace. I had a pair of the HyperX Cloud II's and had no complaints. I've been waiting for you to drop this video! Love your content! You're one of my goto tech reviewers.
Thank u so much
Which headset did you end up picking up?
@@ChryslerS300 I ended up getting BeyerDynamic TYGR 300R’s. Not too bad!
HyperX nailed it but they have 1 con for me at least they still didn't make the 3.5mm cable detachable just like on the alpha and alpha s. Everything else is good imo.
I wonder what they’ll do with a new cloud alpha 👀
What’s the point tho the cable is always out of stock and in my region it’s not available 😢
Cloud alpha 2?
@@paulmartinez34 yes my cloud alpha cable isn’t working properly anymore
@@bb3dr Soon 4 years I think since I bought my alphas cable been fucking with me past few months and if it's not sitting on desk I lose sound. Microphone started to die like a bit more than half year ago so I just bought quadcast it was on sale for like 40euro. But they are still as brand new if cable is on desk
I've owned 2 sets of HyperX so far. The breaking point for both sets were not the hinges. It was the connection point between the metal band and the middle part. That plastic coupling piece always broke.
the thing i hate on hyperx clouds is the plastic in the end of headbands, here in my tropical country the heat ramps up and making those plastic very fragile and crispy and completely destroyed tthatt i have to taped my hyperx cloud 2 i did bought another pair and same results occured
I have a Razer Kraken Tournament edition. I’m so not happy with Razer Synapse 3, is this headset using any software? Would it be a upgrade to Cloud 3? Or would you still recommend buying the 2 from Razer?
thank you for your detailed review. after watching 4 videos covering the same items yours pushed me to purchase ❤
awesome! so glad I was able to help out
@@TheTechne what killed it for me was the sound difference..and not in a good way! i had the first hyper X cloud series for almost 3 years until my cat chewed through the threaded cord lol I just felt cloud 3 isn't awesome enough for the extra $20/30 (on sale) what also worried me was that the headband isn't threaded like the other two...and I really want these to last long. definitely hit that sub button 🖤
does cloud 2 have detachable cable. so basically they are forcing you to buy wireless edition of cloud 3 to have detachable cable as option'?
You're the King of Tech Reviews
Hey @TheTechne, looking for a new headset, been using Cloud Alpha's for 4 years. Should I get Alpha S or Cloud 3?
What about the Sound Stage, and how did the 7.1 surround compare? You've mentioned nothing about the 3D sound portion.
That sound quality sounds awesome
What year model cloud 2 do u have? After HP bought Hyperx in June 2021 quality went downhill.
Great video. I think Cloud II mic sounds better. I believe Cloud III Wireless version sound the best.
Hey techne what headset do you recommend for bigger ears like me
Is the detachable mic easily detaches when you move it? I got this issue with blackshark headset of Razer.
Of all the hyper X headsets, which one do you like best for the price range $119 and up for gaming sound
Hi there, I'm a big supporter of hyperx cloud, just wanted to know which headphones work best with the Xbox one s, either wired or wireless in your opinion thanks Gary
Thanks for the honestly, I will stick to my OG CloudXs, too many channels just jump onto the "best 99$ headset" bandwagon. When I saw these I thought these looked okay but I wasn't blown away...no detachable cable, no swivel. Not that much to make me upgrade. Especially at the higher price. Especially since the CloudX is just the Cloud 2 with an inline volume and mic mute, so there REALLY isn't anything to upgrade for.
My Cloud II started sounding a bit weird i hear static when a put volume over 50% so do you think its worth upgrading i had them for like 2 years.
is there a wireless version coming?
i had cloud 2 for like 5+ years, switched from red to gray since red was old but i maybe buy cloud 3 since it's not much and the mic is amazing but i also maybe just buy hyper x quadcast mic so i won't need it :D
is the clould 3 cable longer then the cloud 2 cable without usb i need something long for pc without usb
Is the switch between the cloud 1 and 3 worth in? in terms of audio and mic?
i think my cloud 2's are around 4 or so years old and i just recently dropped them enough to finally break the headcup from the mount. its kinda back together but if the 3's are anything like the 2 ill prob buy em.
Nice review dude!
Would u chose the Alpha over the 2s still?
I’m going to buy cloud 3 for streaming (Can’t afford a pc so i have to stream via mobile) is cloud 3’s mic is enough strong for noise isolation (i mean it’s enough strong to avoid background noises? )
Should I get the Corsair HS65 over HyperX Cloud II?
Im just looking to upgrade from my steelseries arctis 7 wireless. The mic quality alone sells it to me compared to steelseries' mics.
Hey so I’ve been with the astros a10’s all my gaming career and I’m trying to find something new that sounds just like the a10s because that’s what I honestly like but I’m looking for a better mic anyone have any suggestions?
Hi, how is the mic monitoring of the cloud iii?
My cloud II have broken the plastic part that attach to the head band.
Thanks for your review. My wife and I both have the Cloud II, but the cushion on the top is crumbling and therefore we will sooner or later need a replacement. At least in the past for some parts of the head set there was a replacement part, but I think not for this cushion at the frame (bracket). 😒 Now I saw that there's a new HyperX Cloud III. First things I've recognized is: Cool looking HyperX at the frame is gone, cool looking red string is gone. How about 7.1 sound simulation? Haven't seen anything regarding this! And the brushed aluminium, where is it gone? So it looks like the Cloud III has a microphone which is a lot better, it finally has a light showing if the Micro is active or muted. Both are must haves! But at the end, if it hasn't the cool look anymore and the sound quality decreased - and I think I understood your point here exactly - then what does it help? We like the sound of the HyperX headsets because they sound like they should be, not having extreme bass, which I dislike, and the hights are fine. 😁 The Cloud III costs at least 116 Euro in germany, Cloud II half the price, 64 Euro, sometimes less. Shame on HP! In my company they exchanged the Lenovo notebooks with HP. The HPs look good, made of aluminum. The display is a lot better. The battery last a much longer time. The AMD CPU is great. So the technical aspects are perfect. BUT: The touchpad is not reacting in the upper left and right corner (I've tested that with at least 3 devices!). Where you hold your hand when you use the touchpad, there's a sharp edge. The keyboard is OK, but the one from Lenovo was much better. I do have trouble with my Password Manager. Typically CTRL+F12 should insert the password, but HP made some tweaks with the F-keys and this seems to conflict. The INSert key I had been searching forever in the beginning. They are there at 3 places, but not where you expect them and they behave a bit strange. These are things that could easily be improved. But looks like HP doesn't care. ☹ And I think with the HyperX it's the same. It moved from Kingston to Lenovo and with this it looks like the HyperX headsets are not as good anymore as they had been.
Do you think you guys will purchase another pair of Cloud II’s even though they’re made by HP now? I’ve had my Kingston HyperX Cloud II’s for over 6 years now and although they’re falling apart just as you stated, I’m worried that the headsets they sell now won’t meet my expectations. Not sure what I should do.
@@lkahler1516 I have found a replacement for the frame-cushion on the "green river in Argentina" shop. Haven't replaced it by now but think this will then fit for the next years. I'm looking for a replacement of the cushion on the microphone, but worst case you can just replace this part. So with all the replacements it will fit for some more years. If I would buy the HyperX Cloud II from HP again? Good question! Probably not. There are a lot of alternatives, so I would read some tests and then make up my mind. Problem is, that you can not test the sound in a shop. I like to hear the high tones and I don't like too much bass. But how can I test this? I can only trust on reviews.
@@tallaxlcforlive1133 here in portugal hyperx cloud II costs 70 euro and hyperx cloud III costs 100 so 30 euro more. My cloud II stopped working and they said they could either send me a new pair or give me my money back. If you were in my position would you get a new pair or pay 30 euro and get the cloud III?
Been waiting for your on review on this, I’m still undecided whether or not I should replace my Nova Pros

Bought some wkd cushions with your Amazon discount code too. "Grey 90's aesthetic". Thanks! 👍 Had my Cloud II's for six years. Recently took them apart and replaced the headband. But still thinking of trying the Cloud III. We'll see.
if u will grab them pls let me know how they sound for u compare to cloud II. Thanks in advance. =)
@@pljafki Will do. I did buy my friend a pair of Cloud II's recently and they have been changed since HP took over. The construction is all plastic and the sound card is different. Compared to the original Kingston ones they sounded a little flat. The bass was reduced, dialogue sounded slightly echo-y and the soundstage sounded like it was wider but I could hear like a wind effect as best as I could describe it. I'd be able to put up with them if I'd never heard the sound of the Kingston ones but they are definitely superior. I honestly do expect something similar with the Cloud III.
@@GADG3Tx87 are you saying that it got worse??
@@BiOHZRD97 Yeah. I compared the Cloud II to the original Kingston model and the HP model. The build quality is worse. It doesn't feel fragile it just feels cheap. And the sound is different. There's no real 'oomph' to them. Just a flat all round sound. It wasn't as lively or punch as the original. Dialogue sounded slightly echo-y. Thing is I'm fussy with sound but with the two I noticed a difference. They're not unbearable but if you've got or had the Kingston they feel like a downgrade.
@@GADG3Tx87 ah i see, ive had the cloud 2 and the alpha , im thinking of upgrading to either cloud alpha s or cloud 3 , since people keep saying hyperx is bad now after hp bought them , im kinda worried to buy either of those, what do you think ? coz i mainly play valorant and fps games, so i need that directional audio to pinpoint enemy footstep and gunshot , thats it
I got them both. And i would co say cloud 2 sounds better cus of the bass. But.. Cloud 3 better treble and you hear footsteps better and easier to hear where sounds come from. So for me immersive experiense like single player games Cloud 2. multiplayer Competitive games like fps Cloud 3.
Cloud 3 or cloud alpha s or g pro x which one to buy for mic and fps games like pubg?
You gonna reveiw the pulse fire haste 2
Bought them on july 16th (at the time of writing this it is july 21st), they were my first ever hyperx product and i loved them. I do agree the sound is "boring" or "flat" compared to at least my astro a20s or razer kraken ultimate, but felt great and the sound wasn't ear piercing when loud noises happend (looking at the krakens...). I had to return them yesterday due to downloading a driver update from their software that gutted my game audio, i tried 3 different headsets and it was my cloud 3s. Even reinstalling the drivers didnt help. Not sure if anyone else ran into this issue but id avoid downloading the hyperx ngenuity software on pc if your using cloud 3s. Definitely looking forward to the cloud 2s that i ordered from amazon as the replacement tho!
i feel like hyperx is making their headsets specifically for esports/fps games so the sound is going to sound neutral so you don’t destroy your ears for long gaming sessions. and a flat neutral sound is probably better for being able to tell where opponents are since bass won’t get in the way
Hey bro please translate this, i saw a review said this headphone not good with iphone sound is very low and mix every sound of footsteps, gunfire, door.!? Can you use this without pc!?
@@harshitsiwal It is an all around headset. Meaning you can use it on console/pc/mobile. Tho if your gaming on mobile I'd recommend the razer barracuda x
@@mohdalasfar1361 i bought the cloud 3 and returned it for the wired Alpha. Alpha for me sounds way better especially for single players games. Imo the cloud 3 sound was designed for competitive FPS games and i recommend it for gamers that mainly play online FPS games. the cloud 3 lets everything sound clear but it has no bass at all. for competitive shooters though you don’t need bass but for everything else i think it’s not good.
@@Hypno_BPM so if i only play valorant only and depends on positional audio , cloud 3 is better than alpha s?

Does DTS on ps5 change the sound of the cloud 3 at all?
What's THE best sounding headset/headphone for a balanced gaming but also main audio? I'm in no need of a mic on the thing, purely THE best sound.
Are the sides of the cloud III cans soft touch? I hated when my cloud II got all sticky and melted. I don't like that pop sound when the mic is muted/unmuted. I love how you placed timestamps to rewatch that special portion of the video. Great review. I know this video is a bit old but if any one is having audio quality issues with the cloud 3's try plugging them into the cloud 2's audio cable, the one with the button pad on it, completely fixed all my issues and made the cloud 3's sound just like the 2's
is the cloud 3 better than alpha s in your opinion? should i get the cloud 3? im currently using the cloud alpha , i used to have the cloud 2.
mic diff is craaazyyy wow i might buy it ngl
Small heads up to people who produce music/do anything where you need precise and accurate audio in the headset: I own cloud 2 and just purchased cloud 3, if you want clear and precise audio, cloud 3s are what you need. cloud 2 sound better, but the audio is 'altered', meaning you won't get a true read on your audio if you produce music. i just swapped between the 2 several times, granted i just got them today (had wireless for a day, returned them and got wired cloud 3s), but the sound is definitely more accurate. TL;DR : Cloud 2 sounds more satisfying, but Cloud 3 is more accurate (could be relevant for things like fps games where you wanna hear where the enemies are).
For mobile gaming like PUBG which one is better Logitech gpro x or cloud iii ?
50€ for another pair of Cloud2, or 120€ for Cloud3. This video confirmed I'm getting another Cloud2. Been using Cloud2 for exactly 6 years now and it fell down at least 100 times, no damage AT ALL (except the metal looking hella dented, like Boba Fett's helmet, lol). But some days ago it fell down SUPER HARD and the first "damage" appeared, a crack in the plastic. And now that it's on discount, I can't withstand (usually priced at 60-65€).
Oh not for me my cloud 2 is fucked up but still kicking its like a nokia of headsets lmao
I've waited a long time.... my Audeze Maxwells are supposed to be here on Monday! I'm starting to get giddy! I already have the wicked cushions for them in hand and ready.
Your in for a dang good time man!
So what your saying is the cloud 3 is more accurate sound wise so it's more for audiophiles and the cloud 2 is more for like boomy bassy type because I've had the cloud 2 n they actually have a lot of bass!
The Logitech one is $250 if you have the budget for it then go for it, but if your lower on budget use one of these headsets, or check out another competitor
5 star review, well done, thx
This headset feels so good around the ears, especially for people with big ears like me. Feels very light and sound is great. The only things I do not like about this headset is it takes 5-10 seconds of holding the power button to turn it on and off, and once it is on there is no LED indicator to let you know it is on. But besides that this is a 9/10 headset at it's price point.
None replaceable wire is an instant no no for me, I have 2 sets of cloud alphas being used by my kids and the amount of times I've had to replace the wires over the last few years is crazy. But at least I can and don't have to replace whole headsets every time
same reason i got the ATH M40X over the DT 770 pro 🤷🏻♂️
I think I'll stick with my EPOS H6PRO. Love that headset
Is this good on Xbox? I know some headsets don’t sound as good in Xbox vs pc or ps4

I managed to get one of the old stock Cloud 2's new and sealed, not the new cheaper feeling HP ones and gotta say still love them. I was looking at these and thought they looked okay but by no means worth it to upgrade from the cloud 2's there's so much more they could have added - detachable cable and earcup swivel??. I'll stick with my 2's
