  • I never thought I'd be such a massive Strickland fan. He's so honest, and respect the fact that he's changed and acknowledges the difference between who he was and who he is. If you can't respect a person who can do that, then who can you respect?

    • So honest? I don’t know how people get that interpretation. In my opinion, he just says shocking / obnoxious stuff. Half the time it’s violent and psycho, and half the time it’s sensitive and woke. There’s no genuine Sean Strickland. He even growls his voice to sound manlier. Decent fighter - though severely overrated right now - but I don’t respect the stuff he says at all. Wanting to kill somebody? On what planet is that “cool”? I dunno…maybe I’m missing something.

  • Bruce Lee Quote “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000” I think that’s what we saw here. Sean Strickland neutralized Izzy‘s attacks more effectively than most of us expected. I felt like I was watching Cody Garbrandt versus Dominic Cruz again. There knocked down in the first round was immediately impressive, but the follow up rounds were just crazy. Sean Strickland looked like he had no damage. Good defense/movement with solid one twos and a teep kick down the middle. Nothing complicated whatsoever. I know people hate Izzy, because he kind of like molested his dog… god that is going to be his downfall if it hasn’t been already… But I still would like to see a rematch because I’d be curious if Izzy could put something together against Sean. Sean seems like this perfect antidote to Israel’s power. Take away Israel’s kicks, and now he has the box with you.

    • Izzy doesn’t have the style to beat Sean. His own coach said Izzy showed A his tricks and techniques early because he VERY quickly got frustrated and desperate to land something. He literally couldn’t land ANYTHING significant 😐 And as his coach said he used ALL his techniques. All kicks, tricks etc. NOTHING worked on Sean. Nobody foresaw that of course except Pereira. He knew what was up beforehand with Sean’s style vs Izzy’s point fighting, counter heavy, bait style. There is no technique he can develop to compete with him either. No trick he can employ. Wrestling won’t work etc. i think Izzy retired because he basically felt it in there, rematch or no, he is not beating Strickland. He KNOWS he tried everything he had and couldn’t crack it. A bait tactic like he did against Pereira won’t work on Strickland. He never takes bait like that. And that’s the ONLY trick Izzy had to overcome Pereira who otherwise was beating him again if it wasn’t for that one trick working that one time 😐 Izzy knows he isn’t beating either of these guys ever again.

I even remember Derek Lewis doing the Ric Flair flop in the Octagon and with WWE/UFC under the same umbrella. Profits maybe become more important than a true winner? • In my mind UFC is first a business of spectacle and they particularly shine as a personna factory, they carefully select their champion, Sean Strickland is a great example, Kabhib's UFC career and McGregir intro to UFC are the best examples. First sight you hate the guy, then atfer a few fights in, few clips and you start to like the guy. This is really something UFC excels at, producing stories, or should I say Dana White since it has been like that very early on with UFC.
