  • 9:44 To edit texture drawing or delete some elements in the Texture within Blender: you can save all the colors that are used in the current project as the Color Palette during the work. When you are in the Texture Paint window, click on the Tool icon (the one above with the screw driver) in the menu on the right side in Blender Interface. Then make sure you save the BG Color of the texture as the Color Sample. Later if you need to Erase something in the Texture drawing, just choose the Saved BG Color in your color palette and draw over it with the Brush tool.

    • Thank you for the info! I will definitely give your method a try! I actually found another way not too long ago (Need to make a video about it). Basically what you can do is go to the shading tab and TEMPORARILY change the Color Space of the Bump Image from "Non-Color" to "sRGB". Then you can choose the Color Pick tool to pick the background color and overwrite any unwanted bumps. It works very well and this is the method that I use nowadays. Of course after you're done the Color Space should be set back to "Non-Color" for the Bump Image. Once again thank you for your input!

  • You are really cool for still checking the comments and I am learning so fast! I also taught my self how to use gimp and how to use the useful assets from your website! I have so many ideas for skins!! That being said I tried to do the metal bump thing I got as far as to setting the stroke to curve but when I click the gun to draw it nothing happens. I am probably gonna find why but problems like these set me back hours 😭

    @attepatte8485@attepatte8485Күн бұрын
    • Thank you for your nice words. Don't despair because of issues that popup like the one you mention. I know the feeling and I also used to spend hours and even days on simple issues. This is just part of the learning process and at some point soon you will start progressing faster and faster. So just have patience :) As for your issue, there are several things that I can think of that can prevent drawing: 1. Make sure that the metal bump image is the selected image for drawing. 2. Make sure that the Blend field under the Brush Settings in the Texture Paint tab is NOT set to Erase Alpha. Make sure it's set to Mix (Although other blend modes work but for your purpose Mix is better). 3. Make sure that the weapon model that you're painting on is selected. Go to the Layout (Or Shading) tab and click on the model then go back to the Texture Paint tab and try again. 4. Check that the color is set to Black (Or white, according to what you're trying to do) and not 50% gray. If it's 50% gray then the color won't add anything to the bump image and it would look like it's not drawing. Let's start with those and tell me if any of them help

      @viperskins@viperskinsКүн бұрын
    • @@viperskins every other stroke method works except curve 🤔... Also! Are you ever going to make an inkscape video? It is a very confusing software while having to learn blender and gimp on top of that. I am trying to make engravings on inkscape like you did but it is more complicated than rocket science. 😢

      @attepatte8485@attepatte8485Күн бұрын
    • @@attepatte8485 haha I can imagine that it can be confusing if you're currently focused on Blender and GIMP. It's quite different from those 2 so I can understand your feeling. Having said that, I might do an Inkscape tutorial one day, but the reason I haven't done one yet is because there are many others who do a much better job at teaching Inkscape than I can. Check out "Logos By Nick"'s channel. He helped me a lot learn Inkscape. There are others out there that have great Inkscape channels. As for your curve issue, I'm currently not at home so I can't test stuff out. I suggest that you go over the video again and pay close attention to all the details and my settings. Most probably you're missing something small. Play around with it a bit more and let me know if it works for you, but give yourself some time before losing hope. Remember that eventually it's supposed to work. (Edit): BTW one more thing I've just thought of is that maybe your Bump image isn't shared between the metal and wood materials, and so when you draw it's not showing. When you apply the curve by pressing Enter do you see the curve drawn in the Bump image (The 2D view)?

  • 9:44 I found a way how to delete extra dots in Blender. You see the textures default color is grey? We will paint unnesessary dots in grey. So, pick grey color (.5 .5 .5 for RGB) Switch stroke method back to "Space", reduce spacing back to default and paint over your texture right in Blender.

    @naimovfarhod@naimovfarhod21 күн бұрын
    • Thank you very much for the comment! Funny how I never tried to set the RGB values to 0.5. I always tried to use the color picker but it always gave wrong values, and recently I think I figured out why: If you look at the Image Texture node of the Bump image in the Shading tab you'll see that the "Color Space" is set to "Non-color", and the reason for that is because the image doesn't contribute to the colors of the texture. So it seems the color picker doesn't know how to deal with the values of the image and therefore gives wrong values! Once again thank you for your comment. It was really helpful!

    @Skippydogo@Skippydogo6 ай бұрын

  • i have a question about creating normal maps lik eyou do in this video, when you put your own normal map in the workshop editor doesnt it replace the default normal that has all the baked details from the high poly model?

    @tracyhunt4753@tracyhunt475321 күн бұрын
    • Yes it does, which is OK (In fact that's what we want). The default normal map has details which makes the default texture appear "default". Your normal map replaces those details with the ones you add in your map. Of course that doesn't mean the mesh itself changes in any way. The model's geometry stays as it is. The normal map only fakes details on a model and doesn't make any actual changes to it. In gaming engines normal maps make the game much more efficient, because if these small details of the normal map are actually added to the mesh of the weapon the performance of the game will become very bad. I hope that answers your question

      @viperskins@viperskins21 күн бұрын
    • @@viperskins yes, but if you are not regenerating baked normals and just adding your stamped details your models will look softer and less refined, you would want to either add your new normals on the original sheet or completely rebake the normals from a new mesh

      @tracyhunt4753@tracyhunt475320 күн бұрын
    • @@tracyhunt4753 if you're suggesting baking normals from high poly to low poly meshes then eventually it's the same. That process simply bakes the differences between the meshes. In the end when you upload any normal map it will override the default one. Now you can add your changes over the old one but it will not look good (Try it). If it makes you feel better you should know that all accepted skins (Or at least the ones I checked) have their own normal maps override the default ones.

When I draw my bump image (which is set to "clip"), Blender still repeats the image on the object because the material is set to "repeat." Is there a way to change it so that the bump image only appears once?

    @moskitoblock3323@moskitoblock33232 ай бұрын
    • What do you mean by "the material is set to repeat"? Also, is there a chance that you mistakenly set your image in the Texture MASK section instead of the Texture one?

      @viperskins@viperskins2 ай бұрын
    • @@viperskins Yes, I have inserted the image correctly and followed all the steps exactly as you did. However, I have a problem with the size of the texture. It's difficult to explain, but I'll try... In my material, there is an image template. This image template in the material is set to "repeat." The symbol that I want to draw on the weapon is almost as big as the image used in the material.
