I’ve already sugested this before, but you should try the “Every room is the SAME budget challenge”! Use a random number generator to generate a budget, but make EVERY room follow that budget! 💕💕

I want, so desperately now, for Simsie to do a challenge where she puts functionality over everything. She does another style wheel challenge, but focuses more on getting all of the necessary functions in the house, so the room function will change based on the style. Got a style with no bedroom items, only bathroom items? That huge room that was supposed to be the master bedroom is now the only bathroom in the house. Got a style with no kitchen items for the room that was supposed to be the kitchen? That's not a kitchen anymore. It is now an inside garden area. The kitchen is now on the second floor because the only style with kitchen items showed up for the child's room. Stairs? Maybe it ends up outside, meaning that your sims have to go outside of the house and around to the back to get to the second floor.
Yeah I think it'd be more of a logical, and functional, "challenge" if you spun, then decided what room will be what. Like you spin and get "mission"? Then you do the living room. Spin and get garden? Do the landscaping. This way the house still stays where each room is a different style but it actually has functionality as well.

Do every room is a different trait! For example- childish is a playroom, self absorbed is full of mirrors or smth lol

The tagging system is just one of the MANY things I would literally fix for free. Like they wouldn't even need to pay me JUST LET ME FIX IT

They should just can add an in game tagging and folder system that players can customize... They have that in the sims 3

@@_JustJoe its not necessarily that... the people on the top of the hierarchy get to decide what gets in the game, not the devil. This is so especially in scummy companies like EA.
@@veanell Making ur own folder for the Buy Mode catalog was also a feature in TS2 which came out like... 16 years ago now? So yeah, just one of the many things that TS2 and 3 had that are sorely missed in TS4 lol
This challenge would be very interesting when you did a "every room has a different amount of furniture". So you randomize and can only add a certain amount of objects/furniture.

Yeah that’s the thing; before Dream Home Decorator I never used the tags and didn’t find them necessary but, to do well in that career, they need to be accurately tagged. If not we’re so limited to what we can use
@@lanekatie6877 Before Dream Home Decorator I didn't even know they existed, to be honest! (Shows how often I used to use the filters.) But yes, my own designer character (who's also trying to fix Strangerville at the same time) would ALSO very much like style tags that actually make sense.
I used them all of the time before dream home decorator but I'd love to see them retroactively tag stuff to make thateasier.
I feel like you should try and do a challenge where you have the floorplan and you spin for what the rooms should be, no gobacks no takesies. could end up with the kitchen where you thought the bathroom would go

IKEA has a series of videos called the "Square Metre Challenge" and think it would be a good challenge to try and create a tiny house for a family out of the videos.

Challenge: play in this house as a rags to renovated challenge… as you make money you renovate a room but you have to respin for a new style. Keep going until every room is redecorated and fully functional.

I just did the "No Basegame Challenge"...bearing in mind that WALLS are basegame, and ended up with a colourful mess of stuff under pavillions & pergolas, behind screens, and on top of random flooring painted directly onto the (also not basegame) grass. XD The lot traits (and 1 challenge) are all from packs too, because yes. I have no idea idea how long someone can survive the WEATHER on this lot, but I did at least provide them a legit way to sleep out of the rain, if not the lightning (a tent) and a bonfire in case they can warm themselves at it. :) (And NO POOLS OR HOT-TUBS. Changing into swimsuit in winter temperatures and then not being able to go inside is a very quick death sentence!)

Could you try doing this challenge with the Better Build/Buy mod? Didn't it recategorize the items? You could even build a shell and copy it, and do the same rolls for both houses, one with the mod, one without.

What if you try to do this one again, but you chose the items instead of using the tagging system ?It would be really interesting and the house would proaply be a lot more functional, i think.
If only I could do this. Instead I do the first spin and go “no, I wanna do this room first”. Before I know it I’ve never done the challenge and instead made the house with my ocd brain.

That turned out pretty good, the wheel was kind this time. The last one was definitely nuts, you had to put a grill in the upstairs hallway.

I am once again begging the Sims team to just hire some game changers to spend a couple of days going through each style and colour and make sure they're tagged correctly (and also maybe make each style useable so there isn't one without any wallpapers or windows or whatever)

So this is my two cents on build challenges: * Spin for how many rooms (not too little or it'll be boring, but not too many, because you will inevitably eventually get a kitchen etc.) * Decide/spin whether the idea is to make the house functional or visual If it has to be functional, you will pick a room to decorate, however the spin will decide the function. Get bathroom stuff? Cool, it's gonna be a bathroom. Get kitchen stuff? Great, a kitchen. If you go for the visual, you will pick the function before and you gotta make a bathroom work with kitchen stuff somehow if that's what you get (cheats allowed a'la Plumbella style). Doesn't have to actually function. * A wild card in the end - once all rooms are done, you can spin once more and whatever pack you get, you can use for every room.

Every room starts with a different letter! Spin a letter, search only that letter in the search bar (clicking the top option with no category search), all items in that room have to start with that letter/come up with that search! Don’t think it would work for build, but still sounds interesting!

I totally agree with the tagging issues, I feel like that needs to be fixed In a free update because dream home decorator depends on that tagging.
I always wish that the rooms from these could be uploaded to the gallery if they turn out well. Some of the separate rooms come out so cute, just a little brushing up and people could use the heck out of them!

i’ve started using the style filters when i’m placing windows cuz i feel like the window selection page is sooo messy and it makes it so much easier to find the right window i definitely recommend

I feel like there could be a fridge in the dining room, I've seen that :) I've also seen a fridge in the living room or bedroom, you could still use the items so there would be everything needed :)
This is a home of a family that order food in and maybe bbq on special occasions.
Make a generic floorplan and spin a wheel to determine which room is going to be which. Stairs end up being in the bedroom? Giant bathroom next to a 3×4 living room? The possibilities are ✨endless✨
Challenge idea, make 7 or so different rooms on the wheel, and then a floor plan with the same amount of rooms. Choose a room, spin a wheel, and build that room. 9x7 bathroom? TOO BAD 2x3 living room? MAKE IT WORK Foyer in the dead center? BAD LUCK
I have a challenge for you, and I really think it might actually be TOO hard. So you have a wheel that has all different room sizes. (Including like 1x1 and like colossally big rooms.) you then have to build a house where the wheel chooses the room size. Sounds boring so here’s the twists. You have to build as you go, deciding real time which room is what- no take backs. Plus, I think it’s funnier to not delete the options. If the wheel says I get 3 1x1 rooms SO BE IT. This is when I wish I was a KZheadr lol…

I would really love to see Kayla do the same challenge again but use her discretion on what items belong to each style. Like while the Sims team have done their best with allocating styles to the items, I feel like some items belong to other styles etc, which would also make up for some styles having far less assets than others. It would be awesome to see what Kayla would put in each style without just using what it is listed in the game. 😊 But this is just a suggestion. Love Kayla's content and this was such a fun vid! 😊

I love these building challenges and I personally think you should randomize like a family of sims through story and cosmetically and build them each a room in a house. I think you'd like it as you do always like making backstories for the sims in your builds.

Just an idea. What about a challenge, you build a shell, pick a room, spin a wheel, get a style. Build the room in that style, move to the next room, spin again, but keep the new plus the previous style so the third room has 3 styles to work with etc. You can't change the previously done rooms tho. The more rooms you build, the more styles and options you get, but you're also reminded, that now you have shower but the bathroom doesn't 😌😏
