People in Korea really love practical gifts like this and especially ones that can be eaten. For example, management at one South Korean company presented their employees with food baskets.
The Korean New Year usually takes place in January or February, depending on the time of the second new moon after the winter solstice.
South Korea is home to the most visited church in the world with a parish consisting of over 1 million people a year.
There's an established gift-giving culture in Korea with certain rules. For example, big gifts to teachers or public officials are considered bribes. And when somebody visits your home in this country, you can be sure that they’ll bring a drink, dessert, or fruit.
In Seoul, there's a subway train dedicated to a comedy animated series called “Larva”. It runs on the green line 8 times a day and features two of the cartoon’s main characters in every car.
Koreans are not very familiar with Western traditions, and they don't even have geography at school. At the same time, they'd be happy to tell you anything you want to know about K-pop singers and bands.

SUMMARY
-Expecting women in South Korea are given a special credit card from the government with a $500 balance on it to spend on medical treatment and all necessary supplements and prescriptions.
-Buses run 24/7, but they don’t stop at all scheduled bus stops. You need to be attentive, and when you see the bus you need, you have to signal for it to stop.
-In the majority of Korean supermarkets, there are unlimited samples for you to test.
-A traditional gift at a housewarming party is a few rolls of toilet paper.
-Koreans celebrate “Seollal”, or “New Year”, for 3 days: the day before, on, and after the New Year.
-Each kindergarten has a specific uniform in a certain color so that kids don't get lost in the crowd during fieldtrips and walks around the city.
-About 4 times a year, big churches arrange free visits to dentists and hairstylists for their parish.
-Elementary students have classes from 9 AM to 6 PM, middle-schoolers go home at 10 PM, and high-schoolers sometimes have to study until one in the morning.
-Couples use social media to brag, have cute little celebrations every 100 days, and even arrange romantic vacations almost every month and display their “in-love” status with the help of matching outfits.
-South Korean parents and children like to show their gratitude to a teacher by giving them candy or a cup of coffee.
-There are lots of themed subway cars dedicated to certain cartoon characters.
-Koreans practically never listen to music or watch movies from other countries.
-Modern Korean cuisine is really healthy. They usually eat grilled meat (without oil), a lot of vegetables and plants, and rice.
-You won’t find any trash bins on the streets in South Korea because the people there are super tidy.
-Office workers are now required, by law, to turn off their computers on Friday evening.

  • I'm Korean and I am really impressed with this clip but, there are some mistakes in the clip. 1. Korean people are really used to western culture and Music. As you know, in Korea when foreign singers come and have concert, all the seats are sold out. And in real life every Koreans know the new, popular pop songs. You can probably hear it in the street very often. 2. They also watch lots of western movie. For example, In all of Asia Korea has biggest fandom of Marvel. 3. Korean kids they study a lot but these days they try to not for the kids. Also elementry school(8~13years old) they end maybe 1-2 pm. (the younger you are the faster it ends.) middle school(14-16) they end about 4-5 pm. high school (17-19) the class ends 6pm but they usually have extra study time called "yaja" it means evening free study time. At this time you don't have class but you study by yourself whatever you want! And it finish at 10 pm. Before, everybody should have this extra study time but nowadays you can choose so some students they just go home or go to the academy.

  • Okay... well, Koreans study hard. But they don’t overwork themselves so that they can”t have time for hobbies. They study a lot, and this is why Korea is one of the countries with the most advanced technology systems in the world. Also, they know a lot about western pop and trends, so I don’t know where you got that piece of information. Most importantly: Please do careful research before making a video. So many pictures and the background music was Japanese.

  • I lived in South Korea for almost 4 years and Love It! I was in Daegu City which so far was the 4th biggest city, and the awesome thing about Daegu was that you have the city lifestyle, but if you get to the outskirts of the city you can still enjoy the seclusion and beautiful scenery of the countryside and their traditions. Of course, the best way to travel thru South Korea is with the companionship of a Korean National, but for that, you better learn, respect and earn their real trust. They are very friendly but to a certain point, until you earn that extra mile you get to see and enjoy Korea for the Koreans and not the normal touristy common areas that are really nice, don't get me wrong. But they have so many cultural places thru the whole peninsula that a normal tourist won't be able to visit on a normal speedy vacation. Their countryside and their coastline are so beautiful. Places to go: Gwangju, The Islan of Geoje, Pohang and Busan Fish Markets, Andong Village, Jeju Island, Palgonsan Mountain Cable, Of course, a trip to the 38th Parallel and many other beautiful places. About the food? Don't get me started there. OMG, what an awesome plethora of new and different flavors. Loved the Gamja-tan, the Kimchy Chigae, the Sangiopsal, the grilled Duck, the chicken from Kyochon or any other chicken from other stores, it's totally radical the way the cook it or fry it, the Dolsot Bibimbap, the Stir-fried Beef Tripe & Grilled Pork Belly, their fresh and raw seafood with rice, peanut oil, vegetables, and red sauce was phenomenal. I do miss South Korea and my longing and dear friends plus its flavors and aromas a lot. My mouth and my eyes are watering at the same time. By the way, they know and appreciate Western Cultures and travel to English and Spanish speaking nations on this hemisphere as well as part of their cultural enrichment. They really love Coffee exponentially plus-ultra, K-Pop, their taste of fashion is awesome. One remarkable and really precious thing they have as a Society is their sense of respect for the elders and family, for others and for themselves, they also respect the private property and take pride in everything they do. It's admirable, I never felt unsafe in there, no matter the time of the day or night. Thanks, SOUTH KOREA and my Daegu people for giving me such a beautiful and life lesson experience thru all those years.

For example, we took a cab ride from Inchon to Seoul and the driver turned off the radio. We told him it was okay, that we like to listen to music. He apologized and explained that it was Korean music and we may not like it. Eventually he turned the stereo on and, while not western, it was interesting and relaxing. What I remember second-most is the antiaircraft guns on top of some of the buildings. They are probably gone by now.

Isn't it true that Americans don't know much about other than their own country? And Koreans enjoy watching dramas and movies from all over the world. • I think the entire point is that they're ABLE to do this BECAUSE the Korean people aren't rude and only take a piece or two. If everyone came and stole free lunch, the businesses would have to stop doing it. Or have someone hand it out, like here in the USA. Obviously if you are in a rush and starving with no money and take some extra pieces one time, I'm sure that is ok, but if you abuse it, then it won't be around anymore. Obviously the Korean people are polite and follow the rules for the better of the group, rather than for the better of the individual person (who is filling up his stomach, but making it so no one will be able to enjoy free samples at all, soon... only thinking about himself. I think that's a big difference between Western and Eastern culture. Individual success vs success of the group being more important. Like in USA if you have to miss work, no one picks up the slack for you LOL, imagine? But in Japan if someone needs to travel for two weeks, everyone else will split up that persons work, so the business won't suffer and they can help their coworker. You're lucky if you can get one shift covered in the USA. "Every man for himself").

  • I'm a South Korean and the Thumbnail is wrong. Also, we give support for the pregnant woman because our country is almost the lowest in giving birth to babies. The government wants to fix that. Oh, and not all middle schoolers go back home at 10:00 PM... that's crazy -_-

  • I've been to Korea and I loved it. The transport system and the customer service and friendliness impressed me. On one occasion we couldn't find a restaurant so we called them to get directions but they sent someone to come collect us. On several occasions Koreans go above and beyond to make you feel welcome.

  • I love the new South Korean tourist films currently shown on KZhead advertising, it looks such a fascinating place and vibrant culture. It’s certainly a place my wife and I would love to visit but I think I’d. be certain to brush up on etiquette as I’d not want to fall into the trap of inadvertently offending as their culture is almost polar opposite to that in the U.K. One day I’ll get to realise this dream hopefully.

  • 4:50 Guess it doesn’t matter if It’s not actually Korea because people think us Asians all look the same anyways. Using the clip of the Shibuya crosswalk to give an example of crowds in Korea is like if they made a video on England and used a clip of the Eiffel Tower to talk about tall buildings in England.

    @unfazedgeorge@unfazedgeorge5 жыл бұрын

But 20s~40s listen to western music a lot even more than korean music. And holiwood movie is still more popular than korean movie in korea. Korean move is getting better thesedays tho

They said that the top comment (the one we are writing on) should not say as if we alway listen more western music than theirs. So my opinion is that we listen to western music but we also listen to korean music like 40perc and 60 perc

    • To be honest, like almost every country listens to american music and watch hollywood movies, often even more than stuff from their own country ^^ South Korea actually gives more attention to kpop und kmovies than others to stuff from their own country. And now kpop, kmovies, kdramas and kshows are even listened to and watched by more and more foreigners like me. As you might have heard kpop is getting popular all over the world.
