Boat Ramp Costly Mistake ? The 3 day Launch ! (Chit Show)

People learn at the docks all the time but this is not the video to learn from. Not as crazy as most Chit Show videos but definitely many teachable moments in this one. Comment below how this boat ramp situation could have been done better.
My name is Alfred Montaner host of the Chit Show at BlackPoint marina.

Most people don't have a clue what the USCG does. When they are protecting us, they will kill, When they are watching out for our well being, they save our lives. Can't say enough. All the drugs they seize. Way to go!!

  • Alfred. That is the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. Usually, a group of retired USCG or Navy guys that do boating inspections for recreational boats on the weekend. Up here in Boca they set up at our boat ramp. Of course with COVID they haven't been around much. They are given a gas allowance and they help out boaters. It's a small outreach program across the nation to recreational boaters. They also put on boating safety classes for new and more experienced boaters. Good group with a lot of knowledge. They have no Law Enforcement authority. That group is likely connected to Station Miami Beach.

  • I went to a metal junk yard, bought a 8' long pipe, and bought a 2nd coupler. Had a welder weld it all together so that I ended up with about an 9' extension to my original trailer. I could still drive all around my town, but when it came to launching I just back up, get most of trailer in the water and see the boat float, then tap my brakes. the boast gently glides off LONG before my tires get near the salt water. I look like Cool Joe. (of course I have a long line tied to my bow and the back of my pickup so the boat doesn't get away. Slick as all heck.

  • Hey Alfredo, a couple of observations...you're right about proper trailer adjustment, before they get to the ramp..lol. I did notice a tri-axle trailer and I don't think that boat warrants it. If the trailer is too long and the boat's bow is stuck up against a very forward winch stanchion (as it appears to be in this case) good luck getting it off. Also, can you make a suggestion to the ramp authorities to cut grooves into the concrete of those ramps? How slippery are they? I saw a 3500 Diesel pickup having issues pulling a 24 footer out, at low tide! I'm afraid of pulling my 29ner out with my 1500 gasser, as I do at other local ramps. When I'm not boating or working on the boat, my wife and I visit various boat ramps, just for the "Chit Show!!!", we have a great time. 🚤

    • The ramps at Black Point are public ramps and when the ramps and docks were made, it went to the lowest bidder who in turn used Poured Concrete for the ramps and the docks themselves. Really bad from a boating stand point. No cleats are used on the Docks, but sawed-off telephone poles to secure the lines. :(

      @keithscudder7136@keithscudder7136 Жыл бұрын
  • You should soak down the Runners on the trailer with a hose before he gets on the road to allow them to become slippery. Then loosen up the winch cable about a foot then reverse down the ramp and touch the brakes. Then put the trailer in the water and it should come off a lot easier after disconnecting the winch cable of course

    • Who in the heck winches their boat up, just drive it up right to the bumper stop reach down hook your cable into the eye about three turns cinches it down. Jump down get in the truck and pulled the boat out, I was doing this shit at 14 years old, Trained my wife to back the trailer in straight I would drive it up latch it down and she would drive The boat out of the water. A lot of people like watching boat ramp bumper boats, you can spot the ones that are getting nervous approaching the docks. Maneuvering a boat is just a skill just like driving a car you get better with practice, to these people with more boat than brains seek out someone to train you.

      @micknielsen7102@micknielsen71022 жыл бұрын
    • @@micknielsen7102 I personally like winching boats on. Other guys like to power on but thats not my cup of tea. But it doesn't take much extra time. I prefer to dock against the current (current or wind pushing you away from the dock) Then when you goto put the boat on the trailer you just toss the stern line over a dock post, grab the bow line and walk up to the trailer and pull the boat on using the stern line to get the back of the boat lined up horizontally when coming forward. Once you hit the bunks you just hook the winch and 30 seconds later you are ready to drive off to the wash station. I learned on pontoon crank up trailers before they had load guides where if you drove on you either scraped the pontoons if you had the trailer partly up or the boat would float off the trailer before you were able to crank it up.

I am usually by myself with one friend who stays in the boat. Before launch, I've learned to start the motors when depths allows to warm them up before cast off. If push back by hand, does not work, bump the reverse engines and power off the trailor. Always works well for me.

  • HE SHOULD SELL THE BOAT AND TAKE UP BOWLING! HE NEEDS AN “E Z LOADER” TRAILER WITH ROLLERS, YOU DRIVE OFF AND DRIVE ON IT. HE DIDN’T WANT TO SPEND A FEW MORE DOLLARS FOR A BETTER TRAILER. HIS “FLOAT ON” TRAILER NEEDS TO BE SUBMERGED TO LAUNCH AND RETRIEVE. I STILL THINK HE NEEDS TO TAKE UP BOWLING.

  • Alfred, the coast guard boat you saw going by, is a civilian boat privately owned and operated. Those folks are a group of civilian people volunteering to go on the water and assist the US Coast Guard. They are called Coast Guard Auxilaries.

  • I can't believe I watched it for 23 minutes. Thought something was gonna happen. Can't say you falsely advertised as it was a true shit show but damn. You were hurting for videos to upload that day weren't you. Ever think of offering little advice. I imagine you were born with the knowledge. Got to start somewhere. Atleast he isn't filming some poor guy crossing his fingers that he loses his car and posting it online. Ill have a beer with the inexperienced boat launcher over you any day

  • The blue boat at the beginning was an Apache! as for the guys trying to get that boat of the trailer, it was painful! Boat was floating, it appeared that the boat hook got stuck on the winch... (my guess).. really novices getting that boat off the trailer.. also noticed that the trailer had NO rollers on the bow, just some sort of bar.. not sure about that idea! Another great Chit Show Alfred!
