  • So much work to make a single pencil. The Polychromo pencils are my favorite: strong yet soft and vibrant leads.

  • @mandrakesMD, During the production process of graphite leads Faber-Castell does not use any respirable materials that may cause lung disease.

    @FaberCastellGroup@FaberCastellGroup11 жыл бұрын
    • Doesn't any industrial amount of dust cause issues with lungs in the long run? pretty much regardless of the material, just the fact that it's such a huge amount of dust (in this case, graphite)

  • I decided to make the upgrade to the Polychromos line. My mom get them for me for my birthday. Now I just have to wait 3 weeks xD I have the feeling I won't be disappointed. I never knew one of my favorite classic artist, Van Gogh, Used the graphite line 😊 fascinating video.

  • Now I know why my Polychromos smelled so good when I tore off that shrink wrap on their tin. It's the cedar they used to make the wooden casings.

  • @saltypond, Thank you for your interest. All the artists in the video used their own drawing pads. Generally, for pencil drawings thick A3 paper (at least 110 grams/sq meter) is recommended.

    • my regular faber castell coloring pencils always breaks, the package says "SV breakage", but still, the color leads always break out, its a lie, i paid and this is what i get, but still kinda want to use them because it would be a waste to throw it away, i mean faber castell is the "world's most popular" brand in terms of pencils and such, but has some quality that is not even perfect, since 1700's i remember, and still not perfecting the pencil, i'm from Philippines btw.

    • @@saadodinpendatun5471 I draw a LOT since I was young and let me tell you you are wrong...Honestly, its a privilege that you even drew with Faber Castle they are of superb quality and thankfully at an affordable price as in not only for the rich but not exactly for the poor bc there are really cheaper pencils from china on the market and parents that budget and don't care much buy the cheapest they could find and there is a difference BIG one. I got to use Faber Castle only once I reached HS bc I needed more professional strong pencils so each was important and honestly it felt like drawing with feathers next to the cheap ones I grew up using bc my parents would save on every penny. ALL pencils break that is normal including FC but none of my other pencils with color or not with color were as strong, light and easy and satisfying to use as Faber Castle. My other cheaper pencils ones had a bland color that would even stop as I drew, I could not sharpen them ever without 10% of the pencil going to waste, my hands would hurt especially my fingers bc I had to press hard and then it would break...Tho it could be possible you got a bad batch it happens with every product even food. Give FC another chance they are worth it the only other good pencils that I like are Russian but they cost more

  • Absolutely love factory assembly lines, especially the care taken in making simple but useful things such as this. To answer below, no protective eyewear is needed at F-C because they pride themselves in the safety of their process. So typically German. Also it wouldn’t look good promoting a product used by children with goggles on. Sends the wrong message.

  • I've been using Faber-Castell pencils for a long time now, and I was very curious with how your company makes the Castell 9000, Goldfaber, and the Classic Colour pencils, and after watching this video, it's a very fun thing to see how it is made. But, I got one question: Do you generally use gold leaf in stamping the labels of these pencils? I kind of notice in curiosity if you actually use gold leaf for the labels of these pencils.

    @RealGilbertGan@RealGilbertGan2 жыл бұрын
    • I don't think so, i think they only use gold leaf stamping on the higher end products that they have (e.g. Polychromos)

  • Both have good performance, but the paint work on Mitsu-Bishi 9800 (Japan) pencils is much better than that on Castell 9000 pencils (both made in 2017); after 5 months of continuous use the Castell paint has lost shine and lettering has faded totally. The Mitsu-Bishi paint still shines and the lettering has worn out a little. Both don't use cedar wood those days. HB of Mitsu-Bishi is a bit darker than the B of Castell. I paid double the price for Castell box of 12 vs Mitsu-Bishi box of 12. Observations from India. Our standard pencil is the Nataraj 621 HB (red and black stripes), which is a fairly good performer but the paint job is not up to the mark.

  • I can very much agree with everyone who thinks about the excellent quality of the pencils, but unfortunately I could see several deficiencies that threaten the health of the factory employees. From the beginning of the video, I see workers without masks ... and suppose that they do that work for days, months or even years, and apparently no one has told them that they will end up with serious breathing difficulties. Have you never read the damage to your health, inhaling these compounds? I also see operators without noise protectors and I did not see any operator wearing gloves. This video is old, and I hope those problems have been fixed. All the beauty of pencil manufacturing is overshadowed by these worker health problems. I'm one of those who has put I DON'T LIKE the video.
