More About "LUNGS":
A no-hitter, a wasteland, a stranger.
LUNGS opens with a flashback of SATCHEL at the pinnacle of her competitive life: pitching a no-hitter. But this delusion of the past is short-lived, as we cut to the present to find the world is a crumbling wasteland, the environment now toxic. Satchel is running from a group of savage MARAUDERS led by a sadistic masked man. As Satchel flees the Marauders, she is desperate for a source of oxygen and comes across a STRANGER who offers to help her. However, her paranoia and mistrust lead her to accidentally stab the stranger and take his "lungs," metal canisters filled with fresh oxygen.
Satchel finds safety in an abandoned movie theater, where she meets ABHAY, another survivor. As Abhay treats Satchel's hallucinations, he tells her about his brother Nitesh and how he convinced Abhay that helping others was the key to survival. Satchel rejects that idea, skeptical of Abhay's motivations and insists there are no good people left, only to have Abhay express his sympathy.
But the past catches up with them when the Marauders find them, and Abhay realizes his brother is dead. In his grief, Abhay desperately attacks the Marauders and Satchel must decide whether to abandon Abhay or fight alongside him to survive.

    • @@joshuadavidflanagan Hey Joshua, thanks for your questions! We spent over a year in pre-pro planning in anticipation of filming. We all have day jobs so spent a lot of time planning and finding weekends/day off that would work with cast and crew. Filming took 4.5 days. Our film qualified under the SAG-Micro agreement so the budget was under the 20K limit. I came to NC Jones, my creative collaborator, with an initial script draft back in early 2020. She's a much better writer than I am so she really helped flesh out the characters and dialogue. Otherwise, it was very collaborative as we worked through many drafts. I appreciate you watching the film!

  • "I love dust!" I first found it on regular TV as soon as the digital tuner came out. Anyways everybody I asked did you ever see dust never got a yes, this show really deserves more credit and viewers than it gets. Besides I was trying to find a episode I liked if anybody could help me. It starts out in space with three people real old guy real young guy and two middle-aged in a really run down space vehicle with homemade parts to keep it going and the young man has this plaque that shows a privacy I guess. I could never find it if anybody knows the one I'm talking about please give me a reply. Thank you

  • In baseball terms, strike one that things were so green yet toxic. Strike two that a baseball could be thrown with a velocity by that person that would be especially harmful.....against a catcher's mask. Strike three that the vehicle was freshly detailed because we know bad guys make sure their ride is emaculate...in a dystopian future. As you walk back to the dugout, head hung in shame you hear strike one against the next batter though they haven't stepped up yet....because whatever that was there was no science ergo not sci fi.

  • Sorry but I can't forgive the tight cornrows in a survivor more then a few days plus after 'the event'. Sure a guy with scissors and a shaver might keep to a routine if they have a base of operations, but cornrows need a second person willing to spend a hour plus on even that short stuff with some product. You might as well have people in starched and pressed suits as realistic as that is

  • The plot is somewhat predictable and the last 2 minutes feel rushed, but the writing and acting over the course of the film make up for it. A taut, sparse drama that weaves past and present as one, "Lungs" starts off as your typical humans-are-terrible-people eco-pocalypse thriller -- a genre that, in all honesty, I could use a break from. But it quickly pivots to a tale of grit, guilt, redemption -- and unresolved conflict. The writing draws you into the film's apocalyptic world with realistic dialogue and well-paced suspense. The acting is well above-average for a project of this size and scope. And other than the climax having a ragged cut-and-paste feel to it, the film is shot and edited beautifully and the directing is outstanding. 4.1/5

    • If there is a apocalypse (wich I'd say the odds are at the very least decent there may be at some point), then there will most likely be a POST apocalypse, as there will almost certainly be survivors. And knowing humanity and the things people are capable of doing when they are starving or resources are scarce, a post apocalypse will probably not be a very good time to live in. So...a dystopian portrayal of it is actually the most realistic of all options.

  • Yeah, no. The whole "oxygen is scarce, the environment is toxic" falls apart when you are literally surrounded by trees and shrubs. Not a very realistic portrayal of your concept when you are literally surrounded by green. The entire ecosystem of the planet Earth would collapse for such a thing to happen, so your "bs factor" is way too high right away. Can't stay in the movie at all.
